Scouting the 2012 NFL Draft ed. 1

First I want to say welcome to my first edition of "Scouting the 2012 Draft" by ImBlue. Every week, preferably on Monday, I will take a look at a player who could become the next Miami Dolphins' star or just look at great college players just for the heck of it. Let's have some fun!

QB: Matt Barkley

Height: 6 ft 2 in (Unofficial til combine)

Weight: 220 lbs (Unofficial til combine)

College: USC

Pros:

Can make all the throws

Good decision maker

Cons:

Not very tall (unofficial is 6'2)

Comes from USC (How many of those QBs pan out?)

Analysis:

This guy has a good arm and can make all the throws. He is also a good decision maker, if there is nothing there, he'll dump it off and make it easier for the field goal kicker. He also has good character and seems to be a sufficient leader of the team. However, he also has negatives. He is only 6'2 and he comes from USC. Carson Palmer is up and down, Matt Leinart was a bust, and the jury is still out on Mark Sanchez. Would Matt Barkley be worth the risk?

Conclusion:

There's no telling what will happen in the 2012 draft, but Barkley, if he decides to enter the draft, seems locked for the 1st round. I see him going in the middle of the 1st round. I believe he will enter the draft with USC under sactions.

If the Miami Dolphins had a chance to draft Matt Barkley, how would you feel if they pulled the trigger?
