Chad Henne on his left shoulder injury: "I can rip this arm off, and as long as I can post the ball up I think I can play." #Dolphins

via Ben Volin

No matter what you think of Chad Henne's past, he gives this Dolphins team the best chance to win right now. He has developed a lot in the past year, and continues to get better each week. Hopefully, he will be fine and able to go in two weeks.

If Henne's not ready to go

I feel comfortable with Moore…but I’d rather have Henne.

I'm okay with Moore....

But I do think Henne’s developing, I’m okay with Henne going forward too. Look at the jump he made with a new OC. Imagine a whole new offense, where he’s not dealing with Sparano’s restraints. He could continue to grow.

I had the sentence:

“If the Dolphins can’t get Luck, I’m okay with keeping Henne next year too” before the “Look at the jump he made with a new OC” sentence. I don’t know where it went.

is Henne here next year if Sparano is not here?

he has shown amazing improvement since next year. His WR’s need to catch the dang ball for him though…

That’s right, I’m pointing at you Marshall!

I think he is.

I hope he is. Even if we get Luck, Henne is a good #1 while Luck develops or a #2 behind Luck.

I think we should target a star WR in next years draft with the first round draft pick.

Marshall is good…but I mean…look at Calvin Johnson/Dez Bryant…we need a WR like him.

Still a believer in having a top tier TE.

Keep "Robocop"

I say we keep Henne, like you all have said, he has made very good improvements from last year. It seems like he really listened to last year’s and the offseason’s criticism. Lots of times we mostly as fans, just b**ch and rant but sometimes we speak the truth :)

Should've been back in today then!!!

It would’ve been a good opportunity to show what he’s made of…..dare I say….be a hero??? Maybe I’m dreaming….oh well…..dare to dream!!!!

I think it was that Genious Sparano’s call, think of Cutler’s situation in the playoffs last year.

Not his decision to make.

There is a lot of money and insurance things

that would have forced coaches form letting him go back in.

I am not convinced by the current version of Henne

Henne lacks two of the throws that really good QBs make – the big throw downfield and the fade into the end zone. You can do pretty well without the first – but the second is not negotiable. I can see that Henne has improved in some areas – mobility being very conspicuous – but until he masters the fade, he’s not going to be effective enough in the red zone.

Chad Henne is clearly the answer. But what exactly is the question?

"masters the fade"

I see what you did there.

Huh?

I guess I missed my own moment of brilliance. Again.

Henne and the Dolphins

Through the first 4 games of the year, there is a few things that are obvious to all of us that the Dolphins need to address. First of all Henne is doing a good job, but needs to get rid of the ball quicker or quicker decisions. Second the injuries are just killing them. Think Nolan Carroll and Reshad Jones specifically. No one can tell me that missing vontae davis and clemens have not hurt the dolphins defense. I believe that Will Allen or Wilson would do better than Caroll and as for jones if clemens is healthy he should be the starter. The dolphins also need better play from their linebackers. Opposing TEs are getting open way to easy, and the group as a core need to do better rather it be blitzing, coverage, etc. The Oline play as a whole needs to pick it up but it could be worse, yes they aren’t great but i think they are a man away from an improvement. Finally it is the right time to get rid of Sparano with Ireland to follow at the end of the season. After last week I am ready to see that fist pumping dumb ass out of miami for something different. The Bill Parcells flavor was cool for a season but it is time to wash our mouths out and find something more flavorful and fulfilling.

If this Coaching Staff and FO had any sense, they wouldn't let Henne play the rest of the year.

The season is done. Henne may have a future. I don’t think it is going to be with the Dolphins, but he has one somewhere in the NFL. Why put a player that is hurt, who may have a future, and risk that player to maybe a career threatening injury (see Chad Pennington) when there is nothing to play for? Does it really matter if he plays in two weeks? 4 weeks? 6 weeks?

Do what is best for Henne and put him on IR if his injury is anything more than 4 weeks.

I'd like Henne back as a backup

Andrew Luck is way too enticing though. Would rather have him with a competent coaching staff that can fix our O-Line and create a consistent team.

I’d like Henne as a backup though, he won’t exactly be commanding a big contract.

It doesnt matter how much Henne grows

This regime is dead in the water, there will be a new FO and they will want a new QB.
And we will pick in the top 3.

true

and to be honest though he has improved, Henne still looks like a back up QB. Given the choice I don’t see a regime going with a guy that could probably be beat out by high round rookie QBs, who themselves may not be ready.

Henne is the only good thing about this team right now!

He is the only one playing with heart, with the exception of Devon Bess, Fasano and Hartline. This team has given up!

by CanadianLady1 on Oct 3, 2011 10:47 AM EDT reply actions

He should try ripping off the right arm

That’s the one throwing interceptions. ZING!! Ok, c’mon, that was funny.
Seriously, Henne has improved but our O-line has gotten worse, especially the right side. Colombo should have retired. He gave up another sack yesterday when the DE gave him an inside move. I agree with what someone else said on another post: Tony Sparano has tinkered too much with what used to be a strength for this offense.
