Entire letter from owner Stephen Ross to Dolphins fans

Folks will believe all the hype

There isn’t much he can do through words that will make displeased fans happy or relieved right now. Two big reasons:

1. We want to know exactly what changes will be made to the roster and staff. We obviously won’t know any of this until said changes are officially made.

2. As far as stability goes, we all know it’s a season to season, if not game to game business. If next season is another disaster and upgrades are available, we all know he could possibly make changes. As much as he wants to give the current staff and front office time, it may not be another 3 years worth, regardless of extensions.

Unfortunately, all we can do now is sit back and hope the pieces can get built back together again. I don’t mind if it’s slowly, as long as it’s surely.

We have an owner that cares, and wants to win. That’s what’s important. Let’s just move foreward, Draft a QB in the first, and start winning again

If he had sacked Sparano and then gone after Harbaugh – and failed – then we’d be in the shit now.

When this stuff happens to players we shrug. Tony put himself in a position where he became ‘upgradeable’ or ‘replaceable’ through his own poor performance. So they looked into it. I’m happy they did. If they had kept it from the media it would be no issue at all – that was the only mistake they made.

Anyway, when it became clear that we couldn’t do better than Sparano the only way to maintain stability is to give him an extension – for his peace of mind and satisfaction (everyone loves a raise/extension – that’s guaranteed money if he gets sacked) and to make the players know they can’t play out the string waiting for a new boss – Sparano is in charge. Make no mistake – despite the extension if we go 7-9 again he IS getting sacked. The extension is for stability’s sake.

Ross is right – the results this year were unacceptable. And also Sparano saying they know they need to become ‘explosive’ bodes well – if Sparano can develop as a coach he could be a good one.

With a good draft and a decent OC we’ll be a much better team next year. The talent is there to win 10 games. Tony can get us there. With the right breaks we can do even better (like 2008).

Ross screwed up a bit, but only a bit. The letter is a good way of making it right. As long as he makes better decisions from now on, learns from this and most importantly delivers a winning season next year I won’t remember this at all.

but in general this was not a bad move for him to have written this letter. It would have been worse had he remained silent.

We shall see how things work out next season.

and for all those people that think is was “rude” to look for a replacement without first firing tony sparano……..c’mon, who would be stupid enough to fire their coach before they found a replacement……that’s like quiting your job before you have another one lined up……tony should understand that ross is all about the bottom line and his bottom line for the miami dolphins is “wins”………im glad we have and owner that is more concerned about making us a winner than he is about hurting a grown mans feelings………as far as im concerned tony and his staff have been put on notice……sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet……..thats what the coaching staff has to do and what we have to do as fans……..next season will be better…….or else

We never spoke to any other coaching candidates, including Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden or any other names that have been rumored to be a candidate.

Its a letter of lies, sprinkled with a little bit of truth (he admits what we already know), denies stuff that he knows will cause a backlash….

But all in all its supposed to be a feel good letter and instill trust back in the organization. He tells us what we want to hear (he’ll spend the money, and wants to win)….

It really doesn’t change any of the BS that they’ve done.

I’ve seen these from corporations for the better part of my life…. ::sigh::

Well, there is no offseason, and we are now 0-0 and tied for the division and conference lead in 2012….. Lets get it done and stay on this pace.

why?

1 He thought Harbaugh would of been an improvement. So he checked it out.
2. Sparano has had two 7-9 seasons. But is a decent coach.

So what do you do in his shoes? Yes he mishandle it. But if you’re in his shoes you take a good look at Harbaugh. Time was short. But hopefully he learned his lesson.

Sparano got millions for this. Do you make millions?

Ross clearly will spend the money. Be thankful we don’t have someone cheap and wont make decisions on the player level.

We know where there loads of misinformation. We know that. So where do you draw the line on what to believe and what to not?

The quicker we move from this the better. We now know Sparano will be the head coach and Ireland will be the GM. It’s time for them to get back to work. There is lots to do.

We had so many way to go and Did None (well Henning is gone) Been a fan for along time. But the fins lost alot of pride. For the first time i think we are Drama team. and no Quick fix.Riding this out is going to suck!!!!!!!!!!

Scuttlebutt is what it is and you need to take “rumours” with a grain of salt. Until it is made official it can and most likely will change. Things are always subject to change at a monets notice. I will admit I got wrapped up in this and did not think clearly, the media circus only fueled my sense for the need of information.

I had said in other posts (where we thought TS was gone “for sure”) that I believe TS is a good coach and will only continue to improve. Does he have flaws? Who in life doesn’t? I think the players are really going to rally around him next year. I look forward to who they bring in as the new OC (thank God!).

Playoffs? One and done playoffs?

At least we do not have Rex Ryan! I would rather lose with some dignity
than win with a class less bafoon at the helm! In the end I want to win with Tony as coach. I do not want to lose but there are some things worse than losing.

However that being said there is not a person in the world that would keep me from liking the Dolphins. I did not like Jimmy Johnson but stuck with the Dolphins during his time on the team!

I believe that with a few acquisitions, a decent draft and Henning gone we will be able to get in as a wildcard next year!

However I believed in 2010 too and was wrong.

Right to Tony. I have their address at the headquarters. I’m sure it will find it’s way to his office. I have a lot to say. It’s not going to be “professionally written”, you know, like an attorney would write or even a book writer would right. It will come from my heart but yet it will be proper.

Look at this video! OMG. Just pay attention to when Sparano comes in and is about to sit down. Look at what he does. Notice the body language. Pay attention to Sparano’s body language and try to notice Ross’ look at the same time. Oh, it’s priceless.

New York-Presbyterian. I work in the Psychiatric Dept – back office – billing – not direct contact with patients. Some of the doctors I work for do marriage counseling. I think I’m going to put a favor out there because after looking at this video, these people need counseling.

Dear Mr. Ross,
        
        You, my friend, are an IDIOT!! While you sit back in your corinthian leather chair aboard your private jet, flying across the country to tell Jim Harbough that he should stay at Stanford, other teams were out pursuing coaches and players that could and would want to be part of their team. Perhaps, you should have been FIRING that MORON, Dan Henning. Instead us fans are left to wonder, what the hell is this guy doing. You are out pursuing another coach, while you still had a head coach? That tells me a lot about you and it tells me more about Jim “NOW, I’ll never get any respect from ANY NFL coach” Harbough.
          So now, Steve, you send out this letter and it certainly sounds an awful lot like the letter all of the auto workers received 2 years ago from GM. Yeah sure, we’ll be back in the mix someday, but, in the meantime, we’re going to cut back your pay, keep the guy that is the top dog when it comes to overall performance of EVERY ASPECT of the team, and oh, by the way, your benefits are going to be scaled back, just a bit. Utter bullshit Steve!! The only part of that letter that made any sense at all is when you stated, and I quote…“Select the right people to execute.” Granted, you followed that up with some B/S about strategy…But, you had it right from the beginning, SELECT THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO EXECUTE!! That firing squad should have started with Henning, followed up quickly by Sparano {the apologist for all of these wannabe coaches and coordinators} and finish the process up by telling Mr. Ireland that he can follow in the Tuna’s footsteps and just pack up and leave. And oh by the way, Henne should not just be shown the door, but, he should be thrown through it, head first!! This chump is a loser that proved time and time again that he cannot and will not be dependable to keep the lead in a game without throwing it away, or, giving your team a chance to move the ball down field for a game winning score. A backup that will suffice for a game or two, in a pinch only, mind you.
         So, in closing Steve, this fan is not fooled by your bullshit letter of discontent. Not only did you not make the right moves, you failed to make any move what so ever that could improve your cuurent situation. Which is in complete disarray, by the way. Good luck attracting any worthwhile coordinators, coaches, players, and FANS. You’re going to need it! Joe Robbie must be rolling over in his grave right now after seeing what has become of his once great franchise that he, and he only, truly cared about.

That the fans see through all this BS. Ireland is a bonafide jerkoff. He treats people like crap, poorly evaluates talent. I have no idea why they are retaining him? Just look at how they treat their own players. Ronnie needed how many yards to get his bonus? What did he ask Bryant? How did they treat JT? You reap what you sow. They ALL needed to be fired. They are ripping the soul “fans” out of this team now that they are done destroying the organization.

….Sparano hires an imaginative OC who can develop a offensive plan tailored to the qb and wr,s and beef up the offensive line for running north-south.

Simple to say tougher to do.

Sparano has worked under the thumb of Parcells and Ireland. Will he now have more say in coaching hires and player recruitment/draft? Running the team by committee won’t work. I think failure of this team in the last half of the season is partly because Parcells left, creating a leadership vacuum.

This will be an interesting off-season.

all you people can stay negative all you want but im not. for an owner to call a press conference to explain what happen and what he plans to do shows me that he cares for this franchise and a little bit about us fans. they got rid of the real problem Dan Henning, and just like last are addressing the problem head on. i find it funny how you people Ross and idiot. the guy has more money then you all are worth and has been successful in business. what right or credentials do you morons have to call that guy a idiot??
