Why FanShots Do Not Receive Enough Attention

One of the most common gripes from regulars around here is whether a post should be made a FanShot or a FanPost. Many, myself included, believe a short post containing a link to another article, or possibly a simple question to stimulate conversation, should be posted in the FanShot section. I started wondering why people tend to ignore FanShots (I am guilty of this) and then it hit me.
When you click on an article/post, regardless if it is a FanShot or a FanPost, the FanShot browsing pane is removed from the right-hand side of the page.
When I am perusing the posts of fellow Phinsiders, I jump from one FanPost to another (depending on subject content and # of replies), but I do this via the right-side browsing pane. I never even see FanShots once I've gone beyond the home page. I don't know if Matty has the ability to change this or if this is strictly an SB Nation thing, but it should be looked into. FanShots deserve love too! (Especially since I just posted one lol)

I would imagine you are in the minority.
And I would also think that only the serious regulars check FanShots with any frequency. Even I will only check them from the homepage if there’s nothing in The FanPosts that catches my eye, but out of sight out of mind for me.

I noticed this also.
I check thephinsider every morning at work, and usually read fanshots if I’m bored. But it is kind of a pain that if you are even in a fanshot, the other fanshots disappear also.

At the very least the FanShot pane should be on the right-hand side when viewing a FanShot.

I check FanShots 3 times a day
Now, what I do is right click on the link & click “open i new tab” … This way I can read the article that was shared & once I read it, I close it & am still on the site.. Ive checked it daily for the last few years.

im probably the minority but i check the fanshots before i check fanpost
usually because majority of the fanpost here should either be a fanshot or are usually unintelligent.
I think that more people check them than others realize.

thats always the first thing i do when i come on the site then i go to front page matty articles, then fanposts

I do check fanshots and will have to hit the back button often to read it all
If can be a pain especially if they have links

by just moving it to the left side of the page, on the same level as fanposts.
