How does this sound for our draft?
Ok so right now our major needs are something along the lines of:
- Quarterback
- speedy running back
- Guard or center (depending on where we put incognito)
- and receiving tight end.
Here it is:
I think we will trade back to somebody like the eagles or saints to recoup our second round pick. So..
1. Mike Pouncey Guard, University of Florida.
This kid is better than his brother who, is a pro bowler by the way. He will shore up our Offensive line for years. I would really love this pick.
2. Jerrel Jernigan wide receiver, Troy.
This guy runs a 4.3 40. He is BLAZING fast, has strong hands, knows how to run routes, create space, Get yards after contact and can Return Punts and kicks. I would compare him as being the next DeSean Jackson.
Just look at these highlights.

3. Ryan Williams Running Back, Virginia Tech.
Considered first round talent, slips to the third because of a hamstring injury he's had all year. Runs a 4.4-4.5, 40 and can catch out of the back field. I really want us to draft him because when he's healthy, he's phenomenal.

Holy S*** Right?
4. D.j. Williams tight end, Arkansas
This kid has an amazing story, lived in his mothers car for a part of his life, still managed to get a DI Scholarship to play football at a big time program. He runs a 4.5 forty, tremendous receiver, can block well and can line up in the slot. He is an amazing all around tight end. To prove how great of a tight end he is, he won the John mackey award last year. I'm shocked that most mocks have him going in the fourth.

I don't have us getting a Qb because the front office said they would keep Henne for one more year, plus first round Qb's next year include; Andrew Luck, Matt Barkley and Landry Jones to name a few.

After watching the QB s yesterday
I think we should just go with the best player available, that fits what we need to fix, if we cant trade down. LT, G, C, Speedy WR, and if necessary RB. I didnt like go wow, even though I still like Andy Dalton, sucks about the cheep shot he got cause I would have liked to seen more.
A lot of really good inside LB and 3rd CBs will be available to compliment what we have on D, but that does not help us on O. People were running around and through both O lines.
This draft looks like a crap shoot, hopefully somebody steps up and drops to us.
good job bob
I 100% agree with you..why draft a QB even tho we need one..but it won’t satisfy us or make to much of a big difference..id rather go get an o-lineman..its better long term..or a RB..that position needs to be upgraded fast..hopefully we land deangelo williams..nice seeing you on here

I'm pretty skeptic on him going in the fourth but ive seen on three different mocks that He's gone to the fourth and fifth rounds.

No way he's there in the 4th round
There are some that have him going in the 2nd round…worst case 3rd. I definitely want him in a Dolphins uni next year, but if we’re going to draft him, it’ll have to be in round 3.

Pouncey is the best pick in the 1st and the your picks in latter round gives us speed. Never thought our OL was going to be as weak as it was this past season, but I’ve been emphasizing our need for speed on both sides of the ball, especially offense.
Damn the sheriff, Bring on MARSHALL LAW
My biggest problem with this?
Pouncey is NOT better than his brother. If anything, he’s being overrated because of his brother’s success.

Agree
I like Pouncey, but I’m not sold on him as a HAVE to have….
And I agree he is getting press because of his brother.

Pouncey blows. I’ve said it dozens of times on this site. There are better options in later rounds. I really see this FO picking up Moffitt, he is just their kind of guy.

This is what I have been thinking for a while now. He doesn’t look anywhere near as good as his brother and I think he is getting way overhyped by his brother’s good play. I really don’t want us to get him.

I'm fine with Pouncey in the 2nd or 3rd round. At #15 he is a huge reach, IMO.

In this scenario he has us trading down in the 1st to get another 2nd (what Ireland said he would like to do)
On the "get Jake Locker in the draft no matter what it takes" bandwagon
I agree
I would prefer to draft Gabe Carimi and move Carey to RG.
If by some miracle we got Mankins and did this with moving Incognito to center we would have one nasty OL.

I just would love to get someone like Moffitt in the late first after a trade
and Titus Young in the 2nd.
I got it wrong Tebow was a 1st rounder... Mau you won on this one... Damn!
This ideas are not bad but I'm not sold on those guys.
I really would take a shot with the best value at QB on the 3rd round anyway. If Ponder, Dalton or Stanzy falls to the 3rd thats great value there.
I got it wrong Tebow was a 1st rounder... Mau you won on this one... Damn!

really like this and Luck next year???
Agree with the qb comments dont think there is a good enough qb this year (like newton as a tight end) we should settle for henne with a vet to help. i would change Luke Stocker instead of Williams in the 4th round, he is more atheltic and 6’5 instead of 6’1. then next year sell the house trade up and get Andrew Luck a true franchise qb for many years to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by A Scottish Dolphin on Jan 31, 2011 5:27 PM EST reply actions
trade up to the #1 pick?
Isn’t that easier said then done? We would have to have a pretty bad year to be able to trade that and some other picks to get to #1.
Also, odds are that the team that finishes with the worst record in the NFL most likely needs a QB so they would be taking Andrew Luck. Thats why its so fruterating, the Dolphins are always a little bit worse than average, so the draft picks that they get are awful (outside of Jake Long at #1). The argument has been made that this team “isn’t far away” which I would prob disagree but we also aren’t among the NFL’s worst like the Cardinals, Panthers, etc… who are desperate for Qbs. But then again we could see if they would to come to Sunlife and play us at home and they would beat us. ha!
If we were to make a simular trade as last year, in fact our 15th for next year's #1 pick this year's #2 & #4or5 pick's
Maybe the bronco’s cum back up into the first rd. for sum Quality player, for next years #1 this years #2 & #4! Or sumthing!

I like the idea of OL in the first round
I think we MUST build up the line. It wouldn’t matter if Brady, Ryan, Brees, Manning or anyone else of their caliber were back there – they wouldn’t have stood a chance.
What position(s) on the OL do we need to build up?
LT- Jake Long
LG- Logan Mankins??
C- Incognito
RG-Jerry/Garner/Carey
RT- Jerry/Carey
I don’t think our line is as bad as some seem to think. I would make our big Free Agent play on Mankins. That would be huge in solving our OL problem. I would also like to add depth but not at the expense of much needed skill players to go along w/Marshall, Bess, Harline, and Fasano.
Miami Dolphin fan since 1971. Still the only UNDEFEATED team EVER!
I would not bet anything on FA, even less on making a play for Mankins
Best player available must do the trick. OL, WR, RB, CB, S, TE, QB don’t care
I got it wrong Tebow was a 1st rounder... Mau you won on this one... Damn!
I read with laughter that "Jerry made rookie mistakes"
Well, Yes! He was a rookie. Even Long made mistakes. I believe, to answer your question, that we should find a player (s) for backup, if anything. Garner, our best man off the bench was injured, AFTER Garner, who do you have? That’s what I mean. I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear. G Cory Procter was injured. Carey was injured. Murtha and McQuistan back up Long and Carey. We could use an upgrade on one of them. Who else at guard – Feinga? Backup for Incognito – Berger? That’s what I mean. We need OL help. If Long does go down for a significant amount of time, we have NO ONE to take his place.
Everyone is yearning for Mankins. WITH the CBA, there is also Carl Nicks (NO) – ANYONE from NO’s OL would be a welcome from all of us; Davin Joseph (TB); Harvey Dahl (ATL) – I read he’s brings nastiness to his RG position. Jerry could play LG.
I also read and please correct me if I read it wrong – but Nate Garner and Incognito are also free agents this year. We have make sure these two guys stay, especially Incognito.
Well, that’s what I mean about building up our OL. We DO need 2, possibly 3 new additions. I’m sure we could get a top quality pick early in the draft and then in the later rounds and then there’s always the undrafted, where we will again find at least 2 gems.
this Pouncy..............
IS NOT better than his brother… you have that wrong. But the other players are good picks – depending on what round they are available in. This is going to be a difficult draft for us, because its a better DEF draft, and weak at the positions we need most like QB RB, WR… its pretty deep at OT – and maybe we should trade down and get an OT and best avail RB in the 2nd (IF we can get a trade down partner) I wouldnt be against trading into next year (OUR 2011 first for a 2012 1st & 3rd maybe… then we go hard after ANDREW LUCK… this lame ass regime will never do that because they SHOULD BE out right now, not planning another year of home losses for us fans to stomach…. after they screw up again (you Tony S.) on offense we will be looking to start over again…
But I will be there – supporting these players to the end…. not that I know why… any more….

DRAFT a #1 WR now.........
I do like trading are first for second in this draft and 1&3 in 2012 that would be sweet.
If not Mike Pouncey is a upgrade to are O-line (if we traded down and picked up a 2nd round)
why are you opposed to our?

We simply MUST go after him if we are at all serious about fixing this OLINE…. Move Richie to C – add Logan next to Jake – and draft another OT and move VERNON to G….

I like this draft......but
I think another good candidate for a speedy WR would be Titus Young from Boise State.
I said it above.
I couldn’t go against drafting Titus
I got it wrong Tebow was a 1st rounder... Mau you won on this one... Damn!
As his post says he has us
trading down with the Eagles or Saints (23rd or 24th), Young will be gone by the 55th or 56th pick.
On the "get Jake Locker in the draft no matter what it takes" bandwagon
did anyone watch gator games this year?! pouncey can’t snap the ball to save his life. he might still be a very good guard but as far as comparing him to his pro bowl center brother…. NO WAY!
Is Pouncey holding on to the coat-tails of his brother?
Maybe it’s not his fault. The media has something (EVERYTHING) to do with this. You want a backup C – how about Stefen Wisniewski, C, Penn State? Kris O’Dowd (USC) or Jake Kirkpatrick (TCU). My favorite is Wisniewksi. Paterno knows how to teach them. If we could obtain a 2nd round pick, I wish Miami would draft Wisniewski.
In the later rounds, I’m sure that G Moffitt (Wisconsin) or Hudson (FLA State) won’t be there but Zach Hurd (UConn) or Steve Schilling (Michigan) will be (5th or 6th). MAYBE they will be there. There’s no guarantee.
In your opinion, is there anything wrong with the players I mentioned and would like on our team?
