Report: Fins interested in DeAngelo Williams?

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly, impending free agent DeAngelo Williams "has surfaced to the top of the must get list" for the Dolphins.

"He's a mold of what [the] Phins want in 2011," writes Kelly. The Dolphins certainly make sense as a landing spot for Williams, though his age (28) and failure to stay healthy through 16 games in a committee attack are impediments to a mega contract. Jan. 26 - 11:04 am et

Hey between him and Ronnie we may actually have a running back for the entire year!!!!

I like pursuing D’Angelo Williams but he may want too much. If Arizona doesn’t resign him Hightower might be a nice cheap alternative.

I personally like the idea of signing Michael Bush...

He is young, and the type of workhorse back we need, and then draft someone in the third round.

Where is Oronde Gadsden when we need him?

Murray projected to go in the 4th or 5th round, from what I read

Draft Kendall Hunter for the speed back in the 3rd or 4th, and then John Clay from Wisconsin in round 5 or 6 for the bulldozer. Problem solved at RB.

What has Ronnie accomplished that makes you want him back?

He is not worth the price he would demand.

I got a Fiedler jersey once

but it was too small, so I returned it. Dodged a bullet there.

No Pouncey please

unless we get him in third round. No way is he as good as him bro.

this is something that hasn't been discussed

I think most people (not all) are high on Pouncey because of his brother’s success. But I don’t know if he brings the same level of play to the table. Why didn’t he come out last season as well?

???

Are you serious? Mike Pouncey is an All-American(RG) he’s not as good at his Brothers position© as Maurkice, but Pouncey would fit well on anyones line. to think otherwise seems pretty crazy to me.

No way would I pick him in the first round. I haven't heard anything yet

from the experts that justify picking him in the first round. Especially not w/the 15th pick. I would rather try to solidify our line w/free agency and use the draft to add skill players like RB/QB/TE/WR.

If the price is right I don't see why not go after this guy

Pretty much all RB’s have been injured some by the time they are 28 or 29. DW has great moves and has good speed. Just don’t screw up the cap w/him.

I'd rather take my chances with Ronnie.

That is not really true,

yes it is technically true, but it is a total crap shoot, too many people say that every year, as if you just pluck starting caliber RBs from the middle rounds like oranges, lol, it don’t work that way, you keep on doing that until you hit the jack pot (although according to you and many others this year, that is the definition of insanity, lol), to my knowledge it has NEVER HAPPENED for the Miami Dolphins.

Terry Kirby, 3rd round, 93

Karim Abdul-Jabbar, 3rd round, 96
JJ Johnson, 2nd round, 99
Since 1990, we had those 3, who were mildly successful, Kirby mostly as a pass-catching threat. Each of them would’ve been fine as a complement in a platoon backfield IMO. We had 5 that weren’t successes, and 1 that is still on the team (Hilliard). Meanwhile, in that same time period, we drafted 2 in the first round, Ronnie and John Avery (and Sammie Smith in 89).

I won’t say that later round guys are more talented. You’ll NEVER catch me saying you can’t find superior talent in the first round. But with the RB position, you can find comparable, and in many cases better talent in the middle rounds. The difference between an elite back and a good back is much smaller than some other positions. You can get by, and be successful with a decent back.

DeAngelo

was injured last year, but didn’t he play the previous 2 fully? maybe 3? can anyone confirm?
