Lately, Matty and the rest of The Phinsider crew have been focusing our attention on the big name quarterbacks. I'm perfectly okay with that, but I would like to make a counter argument for a highly underrated prospect. He was in the Heisman race earlier this year, and played for a school most of us are familiar with. His name is Christian Ponder. Sure, he was hampered by an arm injury this year, but you have to admit, when he was on the field, he was very good.
I've heard that he was interviewed this week about that 'nagging elbow injury'. As it turns out, he had scar tissue in his forearm that was causing a loss of flexibility. He said the doctors went in and "scooped out" the scar tissue, and his flexibility and velocity returned with little or no rehab.
With that being said, I wonder what other Dol-fans think about the prospect of Christian Ponder. Would it not be wise to take a chance on him with a 3rd round pick? From everything I'm reading about the "top-tier" QBs that are "on our radar", the risk vs. reward pushes me to avoid them and focus on other problem areas like O-line and Running Back.
Just some thoughts, feel free to slay me for my "stupidity"
