I am new to this Dolphin community as a member, although I have been following this blog for a while. Anyway here is a position by position breakdown on offense of our Dolphins and the hated Jets. Although it will be hard I will try to remain as unbiased as possible.
QB- We both have young quarterbacks with Chad Henne and Mark Sanchez. Henne clearly outperformed Sanchez last year based off of the regular season including the Monday Night game in Miami. Henne, in my opinion has better physical tools and is tougher than Sanchez. The one thing Sanchez can hang his hat on is that he performed in the playoffs but I think thats about it. If Dan Henning turned the offense over to Henne like Shottenheimer did to Sanchez last week in New England, I think Henne would do just as well if not better. For good measure, I like the Dolphins backups a whole lot better- Slight edge to Dolphins
RB- Both teams have a two headed monster with the R&R Express and LT and Greene. Its hard to say but LT looks very explosive but fortunately Greene has been struggling to start off the season. Ronnie and Ricky haven't been THAT impressive but they did go against a very good defense in the Vikings last week. Joe McNight already looks like a bust for the Jets. Pat Cobbs and Lex Hilliard clearly outclass him. Even
FB- Lousaka Monster vs a hall of famer that is wearing down and an up and coming rookie John Conner. While John Conner has been impressive, Lou Polite has been a monster the past two games, especially in Minnesota with first downs and crushing blocks- Dolphins
WR- Brandon Marshall is the best of the bunch, he is a BEAST. Brian Hartline is a capable #2 receiver with big play capability. Davone Bess is a clutch receiver that is very quick and perfect for the slot. Then we have two developing players in Marlon Moore, and Roberto Wallace. The Jets have Braylon Edwards who has the physical tools but is inconsistent and has terrible hands. Santonio Holmes is a very good player but he is suspended for the first quarter of the year. He is the big play receiver. Jericho Cotchery is a solid and reliable receiver who can line up inside and out. Brad Smith is the Jets wild card, he is their gadget player but also a capable receiver. David Clowny is another deep threat- Dolphins (Without Holmes), Even (With Holmes)
TE- Anthony Fasano is a good all around tight end, very solid player. Jeraun Mastrud, however I do not have confidence in because he is an undrafted rookie and doesn't have much experience even in our system. Dustin Keller for the Jets is handful to cover but he sucks at blocking but there #2 TE Ben Hartstock is very good at blocking but not receiving.- Jets
LT- Jake Lond is monster. Ferguson for the jets is good but not in Jake's level.- Dolphins
LG- Richie Incognito is playing better and better. He is a very physical player. For the Jets, they have Matt Slauson at Left Gaurd and he is just plain and simple, not very good.- Dolphins
C- Joe Berger beat out Jake Grove but he is not on Nick Mangolds level. Berger is scrappy and is as smart as center as anyone but Mangold is the complete package- Jets
RG- The Jets have Brandon Moore, who is a very good player and is consistent. Miami has John Jerry who has held his own but is still a rookie but he is still developing. In time, I think Jerry will be a very good hopefully pro bowl player. Jets
RT- Vernon Carey is a very good player but not elite. He is a definitely at top five RT though. Damien Woody has been terrible this year and he will get abused by Cam Wake on Sunday. Dolphins
Anyway, to my first post on the Phinsider!
