Bill Parcells did a great job building that team. If Chad Henne comes through with a big year, they will be a playoff team and a Super Bowl contender.
-ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski, speaking on a call with the media on Wednesday.
Jon Gruden also likes the Dolphins' chance to make noise in 2010. He said that the Dolphins "have a chance to sneak up on people and win 10 or 11 games."

I agree with this
We have a few things to get right but we haven’t opened the playbill on offense or defense. We will see what we have in week one thru nine.
That's not what they said on Sportscenter!!!
they did an over/under for wins in the AFC east—the Fins were 9, and Jaws said “exactly nine.” And Gruden said “under.”
playing to the audience this time, maybe?

well, just garden-variety inconsistency, then.

i agree
i think they’ve covered the afc and they have 10 or 12 teams making the playoffs….
but then they do the over/under thing and well it doesn’t match up…
seems to be the usual double speak to pump up the local myopic fans.
The Future is now, stop the bandwagon and lets get the Henne train rollin, as we all hope that the 14th dwarf is the real prince charming.

FYI Monday Night while being interviewed during Sports Center about the AFC East, Gruden said he didn’t expect the Dolphins to win more than 8 games, and that “the young quarterback will struggle against the defenses in this conference.”
He said that after saying that he expected the Jets to win more than 10 games…
No lie.
Anyone else concerned about shutting down off tackle runs this year?
Yup
niether one of them gave them 9 wins. So hmmmm.

some of what he’s smoking. That’s nuts, IMHO.
I don’t expect us to be any better than last year. We’ve added a lot of talent, so I love where we’re headed, but we’ve got so many guys who’ve never played together, so many guys who’ve never played in the NFL at all, and a brand new DC.
I agree with most of that
except this DC just finished a year turning a defense with a bunch of new pieces into a top 10 defense.. granted, they had more veteran pieces, but his system doesn’t take very long to start paying dividends

Good point.
I do wonder how reproducible those results will be, though. Should be interesting to watch.
I named my son after Colin Cowherd.

Who cares?
Our team hasnt done anything yet! Lets go out and win games… thats how u earn respect… If we win and they still dont respect us, then we can start a riot :D

Gruden can't make up his mind...
That’s why he’s in the booth. He won with Dungy’s team and then flopped Barry Switzer style!
2009 was like picking up a fat chick, You had a little fun, but you don't necessarily want to see it again.

What did Callahan win?
He came in second. A moot point trumps a moot point?

No Kidding! If the QB plays at a high level the team will be good? What a revelation! That's damn fine commentary!
The key to the Phins season has always been Henne. Some of us have been saying it all off season. If he is top 12, the Phins will be a really good team. If he isn’t that good, it is going to be a long year.
I wished the FO would have gotten him one additional weapon other than Marshall. This team needs a true #2 WR.

I'm not sure how good our record will be
but I’m sure we’ll be a good team.
The AFC East has such a hard sched it’s unreal. If you can win 10-11 games in this division, you’re contending for a super bowl. The jets won 9 last year and almost won it all.
Football isn't a matter of life and death - it's far more important than that.

more of the same stuff
How we are a darkhorse. Might pull some upsets. ? Might pull some upsets? No we are just going to pound teams. Also the chick believed we would be 8-8 because of the schedule. F that. If we are as good as we think we are, the schedule wouldn’t matter.

Is Gruden paying attention to anything,
sneak up on people? We are rated as a top ten team by too many people including the big one, SI’s Peter King.
Thanks to all this hype we aren’t sneaking up on anyone, too bad, that would’ve been nice.

a lot of people view the Dolphins as the 3rd best team in the AFC East
and from a completely non-biased stand point i understand that. On paper i can see why a lot of people are making the Jets as the favorite to start the season. that team has a ton of talent – it’s obvious. and the 10-yr history of New England suggests they are right there.
as a matter of fact the odds makers agree -
2010 – 2011 NFL FUTURES – - ODDS TO WIN AFC EAST
New England Patriots +135
New York Jets +135
Miami Dolphins +260
Buffalo Bills +2500
so if Vegas is saying the Jets and New England are the favorites and commentators do as well – if you don’t agree – get out your wallet.
does that mean the Dolphins have no chance of winning the division? absolutely not. Pre-season predictions are worthless we all know that.
