Marlon Moore vs. Patrick Turner vs. Roberto Wallace
So tomorrow night I believe that we solidify one more position hopefully and that's WR. Roberto Wallace, Marlon Moore, and Patrick Turner are fighting for what I believe is the last TWO Wr Spots.
Patrick Turner- This guy had to be the happiest guy in the locker room when it was announced benny sapp was bringing his talents to south beach in exchange for cammy. He's been working in our system for two years the staff has to know his talents. He's made catches when ball has been thrown to him. Granted not the best looking guy on the field so far this preseason but I believe he has done enough to make the 53.
Marlon Moore/Roberto Wallace- These two guys look good. Roberto Wallace is the guy that comes out to the park you see how fast he runs you see how big he is and when you win at Rock-Paper-Scissors you say GIVE ME THAT GUY! He's physically a QB's dream height weight speed he looks the part. However Marlon Moore plays the part. He's not as big and may not be as fast but he has proven in two games (granted preseason) that he can make plays and he has great body control for a Rook. The guy catches the ball and puts his feet and body in the best position.
I think we keep 5 wide receivers. So Patrick Turner #4 Marlon Moore #5. Unless Patrick Turner just completely sucks it up I believe that's how our WR's will pan out in the end. So please no more Antonio Bryant or VJack talk.

My Money is on Marlon Moore
As we’ve learned with Patrick Turner, size and appearance doesn’t always translate the most onto the field. Even for a big target, he seems to still be quite easy to tackle.
All I’ve seen from Marlon Moore is PRODUCTION. Not only does he catch the ball, but he heads up field quickly with no wasted motion, resulting in lots of YAC (yards after catch). Those are the “chunk” yards Sparano keeps looking for. I think Moore has the goods to be a teriffic of a receiver for us.
Moore is almost certainly a lock
I say that because if he is cut, he’ll never make it through waivers. Turner wouldn’t make it either. Wallace and Pruitt haven’t shown enough this preseason to get picked up so they’ll probably make it to the PS.

Moore would never make it though waivers
He has shown enough that other teams might want him. Wallace hasn’t shown as much. But like the post mentioned, he has the size and speed that could make him a threat.

if by not much
you mean – running good routes, drawing double teams, and blocking down field well, then i have to agree….
otherwise you’re a little off… yes moore has caught some passes and shown good moves with the ball (i’m pro-moore making the team) but wallace has done the little things very well….
and there is no way they are going to sneak a 6-4 (or is it 6-2) 225 lbs receiver that ran a 4.3 through waivers after he’s shown some solid skills in the pre-season.
btw: most of moore’s catches have come as wallace ran down the sidelines drawing safety help away from the middle of the field… i’m pretty sure if thiggy had the first team OLine in there and had a little time…. wallace would have a couple 40+ yarders on his stat sheet.
The Future is now, stop the bandwagon and lets get the Henne train rollin, as we all hope that the 14th dwarf is the real prince charming.

Unfortunately I haven't watched any of the games, so I have to get my info from the net
I’ve not read any of the reporters talking about Wallace. I’d personally like it if Moore and Wallace made the team over Turner. I know it would be hard to sneak Wallace onto the PS, but he’d get there before Moore.

sorry but no
moore has made some catches but what i’m trying to stress is that his impact on the defense is much less then wallace’s. moore’s catches or a good number of them have come because of wallace clearing out the defenders…
moore will likely clear waivers (hence his replies that he’d be happy to be on the team even if it is the PS)…
wallace has the physical gifts that few others have – Tall and FAST and a great jumper… there is zero chance he will clear waivers at the end of camp (maybe a couple weeks in but not at waivers)
Not to disrespect you and what you read – but i frequently read that practice watchers (including sparano) have commented – that they watched a great catch and though it was marshall only to discover that it was #18 not #19…
but when push comes to shove – my guess is they keep all three and 6 wr and carry only 4 backs or 2 TE’s….
I mean – would you trade wallace for hilliard or haynos (and i’m a haynos honk) …. no chance
The Future is now, stop the bandwagon and lets get the Henne train rollin, as we all hope that the 14th dwarf is the real prince charming.

Hopefully he can get some PT with Henne throwing him the ball tomorrow...
But again, I’ve only read about Moore and so it would appear, at least from the media’s standpoint, that he is making noise and other teams would want him. I’m not trying to argue with you, I’m just going off what I’ve read. I’ll take your word for it. I hope Wallace makes the team and contributes.

wouldn't expect it
tomorrow is about getting the firsts ready, and while i think wallace is a great talent, i don’t think he’s ready to pass the firsts…. yet…. maybe next season….
but he does get reps in practice and i’d expect to see a LOT of him, moore, turner, and pruitt next week.

agree entirely
if i’m running denver, cleveland, seattle, buffalo, pittsburgh, washington, and any other team with out much of a anything at WR … i think i’d grab a 225lbs guy who runs a 4.3 and dump my 3rd, 4th, or 5th receiver without a second thought.

Correct me if wrong but the only guys I have seen flash have been Moore and Turner
They are getting open against 2nd teamers but with the awful protection Thygpen is getting there is not enough time to run routes.
I think it would be interesting if this guys could get a series playing with the 1st team and gauge each one when facing real competition and playing with the starters.
Maybe we get a surprise and Hartline gets pushed a little.
I got it wrong Tebow was a 1st rounder... Mau you won on this one... Damn!
well if you go back and rewatch the games
you’ll notice wallace doing a very good job also… he is running mostly fly patterns (that clear out the middle of the field for moore)
he runs them hard and fast and he’s blocked downfield very well… btw: these are very important roles in this offense.
but he hasn’t gotten the ball, because as you say the backup o-line isn’t giving thiggy any time to throw deep patterns

Turner
Besides the one ball Turner caught in the 1st game, which turned out to be a good gain, Turner’s virtually done nothing. Bob Griese keeps pointing out how sloppy his route running is. Even on that one play, he should have broken a tackle, he’s way too fragile for 6’5.
by shula13 on Aug 26, 2010 5:40 PM EDT reply actions 1 recs
I think you are right, but besides Moore no one else has done that kind of catch
Also they are not getting a lot of targets each.
So why Wallace or Pruitt should take a spot? As today they have donde nothing to earn them.
I’m not a Turner fan, but I think Moore and him (Moore ahead) have done more to earn a spot.
Or you are thinking we should trade for VJ or some other big time WR?
I got it wrong Tebow was a 1st rounder... Mau you won on this one... Damn!
They're rumors going around
finheaven that we are looking at the cowboys wide recivers, and whichever one gets cut we will pick up. My guess is they will cut Sam Hurd but Olgetree is possible too.
I don't know much about Dallas so I don't know either of those wr's.
I don’t see why the Dolphins would do that though. I think they have enough talent at wr that should get better with time.
by firearchdruid on Aug 26, 2010 7:44 PM EDT up reply actions
I would consider
Olgetree or Hurd an upgrade. They may have enogh talent, but why not upgrade when you can.
As long as it works out I am all for it.
But I am curious about who we would let go to make the room.
by firearchdruid on Aug 26, 2010 9:23 PM EDT up reply actions
I'd prefer Wallace or Moore make the team
That would add to the diversity of our WR corps. We don’t really need more possession receivers, and Turner certainly isn’t the guy who’s gonna break a slant route for a 30 yard gain. As of right now I’d prefer Moore being on the team based on production, but Wallace has more (don’t kill me FR8Train) potential. I like what some others mentioned – stash Moore on the practice squad and keep Wallace on the roster since he has a higher chance of getting snatched up.
"Every island has a beach and mine there will be called Beast Beach."
I want Wallace to work out
But you have to play the best players right now and marlon moore is better than roberto wallace right now.

I am afraid to say anything about Henne.
Like I might jinx it or something.

This is true. Esp when you watch his highlight reel. ugh.
I was high on Turner when we got him cos he has the tangibles to be a dominant WR esp in the redzone, but if you’re too dense to read a playbook, idk… maybe it’s a legit learning disorder, but if i was making NFL $$$ you better believe i’d get myself a tutor or something.
Maybe having Marshall & Bess making clutch catch after clutch catch will inspire him.
That and seeing what the FO does with receivers who don’t comprehend what the ‘R’ stands for in ‘WR’

Maybe Marshall will help Turner a little bit.
Being around him and learning from him should help all of our other recievers. At least I hope it does.

to be honest all i know about Marshall's personality is what I've heard in the mainstream media, and i take all of that with a grain of salt
idk if he’s the “mentoring” type, i hope he is cos if he could rub off on Turner & Moore (assuming he makes the cut) then we’d be set for a good while @ WR barring any injuries. Bess is Bess, he’s going to excel whether we got BMarsh or not, Marshall’s presence coupled with or without Turner’s breakout is only going to make his ceiling higher & higher.

I think the Camarillo trade was a direct result
of Marlon Moore’s development. Moore has shown that he can play the slot relatively well.
Now the 5th spot is between Turner, Wallace, and the waiver wire.
