A look at the Trade, and thanks GC83

Yes it is true, Greg Camarillo has been traded to the Minnesota Vikings for Benny Sapp, I'll give my thoughts on the trade as well as my appreciation for one of the most beloved Dolphins.

Star-divide

The Breakdown: I am sure many of you are crying WHY GOD? WHY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well the answer is simple, the Vikes have a banged up crew of WRs and we just happen to be thing at CB. And so Camarillo is a Viking and Benny Sapp is a Fin. It didnt help Greg's case that he has a groin injury that could be more major than we realized, and he did Tear his ACL over a year ago, but that shoud be fully healed by now. It also didn't help that Brian Hartline just happened to be a younger, faster version of GC83. Actually I had called him being traded on the count of Hartline's emergence several times, so yay for that I guess. On the other side I think Benny Sapp being here means that Will Allen's injury could be more serious than we thought, or that the staff feels that Nolan Caroll isnt quite ready yet.

Jeff Darlington says that 2 roster spots are now open for 3 competing WRs, I think  Patrick Turner and Marlon Moore end up as our fourth and fifth WRs, barring any more moves by the FO of course,

And to Greg Camarillo, I just say thank you.

Thanks for this awesome ass catch:

Thanks for saving our 2007 nightmare of a season:

Thanks for making that catch on 4th down to help us beat the Jets last year. Sorry, I couldnt find a video of that.

Hell, thanks for  catching nearly everything that has come your way.

Thanks for firing up the crowd.

Thanks for being an all around classy guy(as evidenced by this tweet).

Thanks for apparently reading Fins Nation, and um possibly nailing the same girl the Dude also nailed.

Thanks for your charity work, which is something alot of players dont get enough credit for.

Thanks for everything, and good luck in Minnesota.

Which rookie WR do we have to deal that actually has the value to fetch us nickel depth?

Gonna take a fortnight at least to get this herd down to St. Louis on Mississippi. This glen's gonna be tough to traverse, and that river's got to be 50, 60 meters wide. And God knows how many fathoms. To hell with parliamentary procedure. We've got to wrangle up some cattles!

Camarillo trade made 0 sense. A starting clutch WR for a 29 year old back-up CB? Someone found Rickey's old stash.

by 54 on Aug 26, 2010 3:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed, Fins will miss him (and rue the decision)

esp. in week 2. It would be poetic justice if Cammy caught a pass in his butt and the pass would be a TD to beat the Fins… I hate this trade!

Can’t stand the Vikes now (esp. with Favre back), but Greg, it wouldn’t be so bad if you got a Super Bowl ring…you deserve one! Best wishes!

considering that he'll be the Vikes no. 4 WR as well I doubt he'll make us rue anything.

He'll likely start come opening day

if Percy Harvin can’t get his headaches under control.

He’s > Greg Lewis. It should be an interesting battle of the Gregs to determine that, though.

Berrian clearly starts, and Rice is out half the ($&@*ing) season. So long as Harvin is sidelined, Camarillo could very well start against us.

Not exactly

He’s going to have better stats with Minnesota because he’s already the #3 WR and possibly starting if Harvin has more migraine issues. He may have 70-80 catches with over 100 targets as a slot/starting WR in Minnesota. But that doesn’t translate to what production he would have seen here. He was 4th on the depth chart. He would have seen less than 50 targets this season and he would have at best 30 catches as the 4th WR. He wasn’t close to pushing Hartline or Bess to move up the depth chart. And an undrafted rookie was making enough of a push that the coaches and FO felt comfortable trading him.

This is a great move for Camarillo. He’ll get to play with a HOF QB and get much more PT than he would have gotten in Miami. So you have to look at the situation. Camarillo will get numbers with Minnesota. But I completely envision Bess getting 50-70 catches as well as a slot WR. So Bess can do for us what Camarillo can do for Minnesota. But Camarillo could not have done for us what he could do in Minnesota.
