Greg Camarillo

Greg Camarillo has been traded to the Vikings. Sucks that it may comeback to haunt us when we play Minnesota but I think we needed to get him out of here because he is really similar to Hartline as far as skill sets and we don't need 2 of the same WR anymore that we have our beast. Can't wait to find out what we got back for him, hope it's good.

How you guys feel about this trade?

I'm not completely sold on Hartline over Camarillo...

Hartline has made plays for us but Camarillo was a rock. That said, I am happy that Moore or Wallace have a good shot at making it, they are looking like they have potential.

Anyone know what we got from Minnesota, or when we’ll find out?

Then explain to me why he led the team in YAC and had the most TD’s?

I don't think Hartline sucks but

leading our receiving core in anything isn’t much justification. BTW Hartline YAC is yards after catch, that 16 he accumulated was YPC (yards per catch)

Well said Earl, I liked Cammy on our roster, games like against Baltimore and like

last year against the Jets when he made clutch catches to set up the winning TD, but Hartline is younger and will only build on his game.

I am... I know college talent means almost nothing when making the transition

into the NFL, but when I watched Hartline at OSU he always played with a ton of heart, and that can transition into the league. I agree with DB that him leading our WR corps doesn’t mean much but he did impress me last year.

I just think he has still got to prove he can start full time. I think he and Bess can prosper with Marshall drawing double teams. I think Bess will be the bigger beneficiary though much like Welker is in NE.

especially with a 26 year old stud

named Brandon Marshall as your #1, i think its a huge mistake to “hand the keys” to Brian Hartline who won’t see double coverage 1 time the entire season.

In all honestly (shoot me now) wouldn’t ted ginn be better as the #2 in a role that he played at OSU? Homerun hitter. straight up.

by DRoyce on Aug 25, 2010 1:44 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree and disagree...

I agree that he needs to earn that starting spot and I hope he has in TC. However, I disagree that Ginn would have been better. He has great speed, but isn’t really a better route runner, isn’t physical and of course his hands are suspect. Now if we just had Ginn run 9 routes all day, then maybe. But I think Hartline can be more physical against man coverage and is equal to, if not better than Ginn running routes. And Hartline has better hands than Ginn. He doesn’t have than kinda speed, but I think Moore or Wallace are impressing enough in that respect to keep them on the roster.

I do agree that Ginn may have been better suited to line up alongside BM

But why would we want two #19s on this team after what TG did to us?

Haha, just kidding.

I don’t agree that it’s such a huge mistake to let Hartline start, though I don’t think his name is in pen yet. We could put Bess on the outside and put Hartline in the slot, and we’d be fine. Vice versa, we’ll still be fine.

Prove it?

He had almost as many yards, a better YPC, more YAC, three more touchdowns (to Cam’s 0), in 60% the amount of catches.

And he was a ROOKIE.

What is there to prove? He could do exactly what he did last season and he’ll have already matched (if not exceeded) Greg’s production based solely off of scoring.

You could catch 100 balls. If you don’t score, you better not drop a pass.

ugh next few years

I look at the OSU Offense similar to the Duke Basketball program. Rarely do they ever give birth to a great NFL Talent. You look at Ted Ginn, Hartline, Brian Robiskie, Maurice Clarett and we will see what Chris Wells will do…

But the only OSU guy to come out and perform has been Santonio Holmes.

by DRoyce on Aug 25, 2010 1:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Woah

I mean look at the situations the players were drafted in. I am not making any excuses for what they did on the field but Robiskie is in Cleveland with what offense and QB? Maurice was an idiot… thought 1 year of college would make him a great pro, and when the courts said no, he was out of football for a year. Ginn, I mean Ginn was a fast player that was it. He was picked too early and I think that had a snow ball effect with pressure, expectations, going to a bad offensive team. Yes he dropped balls and hated contact, but he should have been a returner only

Well, OSU still has some average players on NFL rosters. I think the following players have found maybe just a little success in the NFL or have shown promise to do so:

Chris Gamble
Nate Clements
Anthony Gonzalez
Ben Hartsock
AJ Hawk
Santonio Holmes

I think they all have at least contributed a little something to the NFL. Sounds like you’re just more of an OSU-hater and hate Hartline by association. I don’t like OSU by any means, but I’m not going to discard all their players as trash.

Their offense

Outside of their OL, I do think they have position players with potential.

Beanie Wells and Brian Hartline show promise, but they still need a year or two to prove it. I won’t write Robiskie off yet because he was a rookie on a terrible team. Michael Jenkins is also a serviceable WR. You already mentioned Santonio Holmes. If you want to go back a little further, OSI also produced Terry Glenn, David Boston, and Eddie George.

Camarillo will be missed. With Moore’s and Wallace’s rising, for me it’s pretty clear that the FO wanted to open a WR roster slot for Turner – a young, drafted player, who still has a lot to prove.

I like this trade

Camarillo would have sat. With Rice out and Favre as the QB he has a chance to see the field.

I think Hartline is slightly better than him at this moment and he is only in his second year.

Concerned why we got Sapp, maybe the secondary is a big issue.

I hope this move means that the light is coming on for Turner and the UDFA guys are stepping up...

moreso than a need to trade for a nickel corner. Turner has the potential to be a better red zone weapon than Cam simply because of size. Wallace and Moore are speed guys that can stretch the defense.

Its gotta be both really

Moore has looked great and adds a different dimension to our WR core. Turner is finally coming on from being drafted in the 3rd round. Will Allen is hurt and Carroll looked terrible in the slot versus average competition

I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

by Souwantmyname on Aug 25, 2010 1:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Dont forget our TEs as red zone targets...

Plus with Martin coming back, he will take over alot of the blocking, allowing Fasano to get open in the middle of the field. Haynos is also 6’8’’, a guy with that size looks appealing to throw to in the red zone. I think well be alright without Camarillo, but I dont care much for our compensation. It looked like Carroll and Ness were showing enough promise. Then again we only see what they want us to see; we dont know how much they could really be struggling. Turner and Moore also have the size to go up and pluck balls out of the air, much like the Chargers do with Malcom Floyd and Legeduu Naanne. (Vincent Jackson as well if he ever plays for them again)

I pose as much a redzone threat as Greg Camarillo

I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

by Souwantmyname on Aug 25, 2010 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions

How does Camarillo's trade impact competition at CB and WR?

First, I’ll start by saying that I’m sad to see Camarillo go. He was the ultimate underdog and always worked hard, all qualities that I have to respect. Greg always made plays when necessary. Nothing flashy, just smart and technically savvy. Wish him all the best in Minnesota.

Apparently we received CB Benny Sapp in return for Greg. Being that he’s plays nickel, what does that say about the situation at the position? Will Allen was supposed to play the position…has he had a setback in his recovery? Sapp is a good player, Nathan Jones quality type of guy. He should make the team. Seems as if the team has identified CB as a trouble spot and are working to supplement it. It might not be good news for Nolan Caroll, who might see work at CB in the dime packages only. They probably want to focus more on KR’s at this point, which might not be a bad idea.

At WR, my suspicion is that the 5th WR is not on the roster at the current time. There are three WR’s competing for the two last slots: Turner, Moore, and Wallace. Could it be that the Trifecta have seen something with the undrafted FA’s that merits development. And does Turner, who by all accounts, has been inconsistent in camp and preseason thus far, grown to the point where he can contribute. His biggest problem, as I see it, is the need to run more disciplined routes. Wallace and Moore are both very raw, PS types, but have speed and some pass catching ability.

We’ll see…

sad to see him go

was one of those good guy players with a big heart. Ill always remember the “ass catch” and the catch that saved the 0-16 season. Dolphins should put him in their ring of honor just for that.
In all seriousness though, the trade doesnt make a huge impact. Unless this benny sapp turns out to be a lockdown nickel who cares. Camarillo wasnt going to see the field much anyway, most Dolphins 3rd downs seem to be 3 and 5 or shorter and those plays are always lousaka run, wildcat, or a slant to bess. No with marshall 3rd down should be easier and hartline has better downfield potential than camarillo (just think of the titans game).

Finally im looking to see roberto wallace in the final 2 preseason games. Being an SDSU student I watched this guy be the only good player on the team for a couple years. I honestly thought hed be a mid round draft pick so the dolphins got a good pickup. Week 2 shouldnt be as bad as once thought. Sidney rice out, harvin may have his migrains, and who knows how favre will be.

Berrian and Minnesota's WRs

I do think Berrian is also a pretty good #3 WR. For the Vikings though, they have to be concerned about Rice’s health and the durability of Harvin because of his migraines. This gives them two solid backups with Berrian and Camarillo and provides them solid depth. I think the Vikings came out the winner in this trade.

Berrian

I don’t think the Vikings had released a depth chart with Rice listed on it yet since he hasn’t practiced, but I’m fairly certain he was expected to take over the #1 job. I wonder if Javon Walker’s stint in Minnesota will be extremely short. I think Greg Lewis will beat him out…

by Finhead83 on Aug 25, 2010 2:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I also heard talk of Sidney Rice possibly going on IR and missing the whole season.

In that case, Berrian and Harvin would become the go to guys with Camarillo, Lewis and Walker all becoming backups for at least this year.

How this changes things...

I’m not exactly big on this trade, but mainly because of the return we got. I think this means the front office has hopes for some of the WRs, which I believe is Patrick Turner and Marlon Moore. I think Camarillo still would’ve provided good depth because he could’ve moved into the slot if either Hartline or Bess were injured. What this means for Miami’s CB corps is anyones guess. Davis, Smith, W. Allen, and Carroll look like locks to make the team and it’d be hard for me to believe Miami will keep 6 WRs.

By the looks of things, it appears to me Miami was thinking Camarillo wasn’t likely to stay on their roster past training camp and they believed they’d bring in Benny Sapp, a player who looked like he may not have made the final roster for the Vikings. Sapp was fighting a losing battle for the #3 job with Asher Allen and Chris Cook and was heading for either the #5 CB position or the streets. I’m not sold Miami will even keep Sapp on their final roster when the final cuts are made.

by Finhead83 on Aug 25, 2010 1:51 PM EDT reply actions

Good points

Cam’s injury has allowed the other guys to step up and he may not have been guaranteed a roster spot like we all thought. And Sapp has experience in the nickel to give us depth until Allen can recover.

I agree they're smarter...but not based on this.

But that doesn’t change the fact at the moment this looks like the Vikes are going to come out ahead.
We got at best – a nickle corner. Probably a back-up nickle corner. Who will also probably be a progress stopper (to use a Sparanoism) for Nolan Carrol.

They got a slot reciever they suddenly desperately need to plug in between to their Pro Bowl TE and their offensive rookie of the year WR while they wait for their other Pro Bowl WR to heal from surgery. All of which gets overlooked because their gun-slinging QB is on his way to the Hall of Fame.

Favre attempted 531 passes last year….how many will come GC’s way this year? That’s important because he isn’t going to drop any of them.

What do we set the over/under at? 60 recs? 70?

Would Camarillo have caught 70 balls here…unlikely. But surely to God he’s worth more than a back-up nickle corner.

So the FO making the trade migh be way smarter than the one that gave Wes Welker to the Pats …but right now I can’t see how we end up on the upside of this.

Well if the FO knew that he was not going to make the final 53 and this is the best

trade they could make then we came out way ahead. Whats the other option if no one wanted to give something for him? I say a useful player vs. possibly releasing him and getting nothing is coming out ahead in this case.

Keep in mind...before we got Brandon Marshall....

Everyone everywhere talked about how we were stacked with #2 and #3 WR’s…
Camarillo was referred to as a #3 or a #4 wide receiver by many of the same people here who are upset by this trade….

The fact of the matter is, he’s a fan favorite, but he wasn’t going to be the difference maker in us getting to a Superbowl, which made him expendable…..

And STOP with the “he isn’t going to drop any of them” Thats ridiculous. He’s going to drop his share….

Hey I get that the NFL is a business

And I get we made a trade to fill a need and we dealt a player Miny needed from a position we have depth.

But, regardless of how far down the food chain or how little potential people might think Greg Camarillo had as a Dolphin I firmly believe this trade will be of more benefit to the Vikings than the Dolphins.

He didn’t drop a pass last year and dropped – what 2? the year before, so “his share” based on his recent career would be he’s only going to drop one. He’s dropped two and caught 105 in 27 games. The math isn’t that complex.
.
That’s not ridiculous, that’s not hyperbole, that’s a statistical projection based on his past performance. He’s going to a team with a better over all passing attack with a HoF quarterback and he will be the possesion reciever.

The trade hurts fans less if we diminish what he did and what he’s capable in our heads. But it’s highly likely he’s going to have a career year and be of far more value to the Vikings than an insurance policy for Will Allen will be for us.

Berrian isn't a possession WR

his Yards per Reception is more than a full yard better than Larry Fitzgeralds (career), and only half a yard less than Randy Moss (the ultimate deep threat). He’s a deep threat.

Really?

How many thought Cammy was the answer at either the #1, #2, or Slot Wide Receiver positions?

None. He doesn’t have that flash, you don’t look at Cammy and thing, this guy is going to score big. That season saving TD is half of his TD total in the NFL. He was knocked out of the #2 WR slot by a rookie last year. Cam is a great guy, fans will all love him, fans will remember him, and in 10 years, noone will remember his name other than (the guy that caught the pass)….

He’s a good hands receiver, and the guy we got helps a position of need that is definitely struggling. We may not have gotten value for value, but our need at the position makes the value even.

I really hope you're right.

But when we play the Vikes in Week 2 and Camarillo lines up in the slot do we really expect to see Benny Sapp opposite him?

If that happens and Sapp shuts GC down I’ll start to think we got value for value.

10 years from now i will remember Greg Camarillo. The way I remember Howard Twilley, Tommy Vigorito, Jim Jensen, and Jimmy Cefalo now.

Bad move IMO

We got a serviceable nickle CB someone who is proven clutch. I thought he was worth more if this was going to happen. Underrated by Miami’s Trio IMO. Well it’s Moore and Turner now. Lets see if they can live up to their hype. Wallace to the PS. Unless we take 6 WR’s. Which is unlikely but TS didn’t rule it out.

Thanks Cam for everything!

I know some of us are upset at the move, but look at it this way...

We were the ones who were guaranteeing Camarillo a roster spot. But it really sounds like he was fighting for a roster spot. He hasn’t played much, if at all in the preseason. He’s been injured allowing younger guys to get his reps. He doesn’t offer much in terms of potential production that we couldn’t get from the younger guys. Maybe after camp, his spot wasn’t as guaranteed as we thought. And if we were going to cut him eventually, why not try to add depth and experience at a position where we are hurting right now. Just trying to spin this positively I guess.

You also have to look at the fact he was our 4th WR

He caught 50 balls last year as a starter for us so its reasonable to think that his production would get cut in half to 20-25 balls. Is it worth keeping a player like that on the roster who doesn’t play ST?

after being injured

he has trouble creating separation. He has amazing hands (and glutes) that catch just about everything thrown at them….the problem is nothing is thrown your way if you arent open. Plus his extension was way more costly against next years cap than Turner and one of the UFA’s combined. I like the move, especially if Will is more injured than we are being led to believe.

details on trade

Vikings acquired WR Greg Camarillo from the Dolphins in exchange for CB Benny Sapp.

Camarillo had fallen to fourth on the depth chart in Miami, and there was even speculation that he’d be left off the final roster. With Percy Harvin moving outside to make up for the loss of Sidney Rice, Camarillo will offer a more exciting alternative to Greg Lewis as the No. 3 receiver. In the Vikings’ high-powered offense, he’s worth a PPR-league flier. Aug. 25 – 12:48 pm et

Camarillo is what he is (which isn’t a bad thing) but that’s it. There is no upside with Camarillo. On top of that he’s been dealing with a groin injury that he didn’t seem fully recovered from. On top of that he’s just a possession receiver and doesn’t provide much dynamic to our passing game. We already have 3 possession receivers on the roster already (Marshall, Hartline, and Bess) so I think the FO decided to roll with the young guys with upside. Marlon Moore is playing his way into that 5th receiver spot, and Patrick Turner was a 3rd round investment that has yet to prove himself. So I was pretty certain that the FO wasn’t going to get rid of a high draft pick, and when you looked at our roster Camarillo was the weak link….so goodbye

Cam is or was a good WR

no doubt to that , but replaceable, you can get Cams almost every year, he is a good #2 WR. We have Hartline, Moore for now, Turner, Bess, Pruitt, he will be miss but easly replaced.

Wow Brandon London is irrelevant...Everyone was expecting him to become our #1 WR, yet he barely played a down

We are talking about a guy fighting for the 5th WR spot. Marlon has shown some ability in the preseason. Last week he showed he can adjust and get YAC, and this week he worked the slot and got open. Not to mention he’s been making big plays in practice. i

How is the brandwagon irrelevant?

My point was that a few flashes from him paved the way to being proclaimed the next great WR in Miami. I dont think anyone was proclaiming that he would be a #1, but a potential starting receiver. My point is you can drink the kool-aid all you want, but I will wait to see if it poisons all of you fools first. The way people are talking about Moore around here is not in light of a #5 WR, but rather that of a starter…read people’s posts on him if you don’t think that is what is being said. The brandwagon is quite relevant in this reference.

Child please do you remember how desperate this team was for a #1. We were ready to crown anything with 2 hands a #1 WR.

The way people are talking about Moore around here is not in light of a #5 WR, but rather that of a starter

For the most part I think everyone knows he is in the battle for that 5th spot. I don’t know how someone could be a starter if their roster spot isn’t even certain.

OMG

Learn how to read DB. I clearly stated “is not in light of a #5 WR, but rather that of a starter”…. That clearly states that the way people are alluding to his skill set would lead people to believe that he could be a starter, not that he has a spot on this team….hence the brandwagon.

Where are you getting that crap from? People (myself included) are saying at most that he can help us in stretching the field since he would be our only deep threat. That means he’d see the field sporadically and maybe get 20 balls thrown his way

HERE YOU GO!!

This is just a sample of what some people are proclaiming. I did not say DB or Souwantmyname claimed him to be the next starter, I simply said that people said (no specifics).

Fifth spot is up for grabs, but if you really think about it, Moore has the swagger of a #2
receiver. I know it was 2nd and 3rd string players, the fearlessness he showed really caught my eye. His intangibles spoke volumes in his 1st preseason game.

I can read...can you?
is not in light of a #5 WR, but rather that of a starter

like I said For the most part I think everyone knows he is in the battle for that 5th spot. I don’t know how someone could be a starter if their roster spot isn’t even certain. From what I see no one is calling him a starter, they see him in a battle for the 5th spot with Turner

Really bruh? I didn't feel like gettin into it

But you made a BS claim…what BS claim is that you ask?

The way people are talking about Moore around here is not in light of a #5 WR, but rather that of a starter…read people’s posts on him if you don’t think that is what is being said. The brandwagon is quite relevant in this reference.

The way people talk about Moore? Hmm that’s sounds like your saying the majority is painting Moore in that light. Yet the best you could do was show me someone who said he plays with the confidence of a #2.What exactly did you back up?

Your right

People could mean 2 or 2 billion but that wasn’t the case

The way people are talking about Moore around here is not in light of a #5 WR, but rather that of a starter…

Clearly you are talking about the majority by using the term “around here”. Now the term “around here” isn’t just referring to 2 people. And if you could pull up more comments why didn’t you?

Another thing being lost in this trade, is that

we received Benny Sapp in return. Now is he a top 10 corner? Hell to da naw, but he is a tenured vet. Will Allen is coming off knee surgery again and we don’t know if he will return to form. We do have some nice competition for the nickel corner spot with Nate Ness and Nolan Carroll. But they are both rookies, and adding Sapp brings a veteran presence to the nickel, which will be very helpful.

So it's realistic that

Someone is going to trade for Pat White?..you have a better chance of trading a 32 year old CB coming off 2 off-season surgeries.

There's always some coach who believes he can pull something out of nothing.

Now don’t misunderstand. I’m not optimistic about what we’d get. I’m thinking 5th rounder or less.

As for Allen, yes he’s had two surgeries. Only one was major surgery, this latest is just to clean some stuff out. I just think the FO is better off moving him now while they can get something for him, and we have decent depth and youth at the CB position.

I used to think I had a drinking problem.
So I stopped thinking.

by luvs2drnk on Aug 25, 2010 3:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes this is true

But I think we would be lucky to get a PB & J sandwich in return, which would mean we just wasted a 2nd round pick. But the fact that Thingpen is taking all the snaps tells me White is gone one way or another

As for Allen I doubt we’d get anything considerable also, but honestly I think it’s best to keep Allen since he’s a proven vet that’s played at a high level when healthy, he can still teach Sean and Vontae some stuff

Peasant 1: Are there? Oh well, tell us.
Sir Bedevere: Tell me. What do you do with witches?
Peasant 1: Burn them.
Sir Bedevere: And what do you burn, apart from witches?
Peasant 1: More witches.
Peasant 2: Wood.
Sir Bedevere: Good. Now, why do witches burn?
Peasant 3: …because they’re made of… wood?
Sir Bedevere: Good. So how do you tell whether she is made of wood?
Peasant 1: Build a bridge out of her.
Sir Bedevere: But can you not also build bridges out of stone?
Peasant 1: Oh yeah.
Sir Bedevere: Does wood sink in water?
Peasant 1: No, no, it floats!… It floats! Throw her into the pond!
Sir Bedevere: No, no. What else floats in water?
Peasant 1: Bread.
Peasant 2: Apples.
Peasant 3: Very small rocks.
Peasant 1: Cider.
Peasant 2: Gravy.
Peasant 3: Cherries.
Peasant 1: Mud.
Peasant 2: Churches.
Peasant 3: Lead! Lead!
King Arthur: A Duck.
Sir Bedevere: …Exactly. So, logically…
Peasant 1: If she weighed the same as a duck… she’s made of wood.

Okay but just this once
My point was that a few flashes from him paved the way to being proclaimed the next great WR in Miami. I dont think anyone was proclaiming that he would be a #1, but a potential starting receiver. My point is you can drink the kool-aid all you want, but I will wait to see if it poisons all of you fools first. The way people are talking about Moore around here is not in light of a #5 WR, but rather that of a starter…read people’s posts on him if you don’t think that is what is being said. The brandwagon is quite relevant in this reference.

I wonder who approached who for the trade?

Did Minnesota approach Miami asking for Camarillo? Or did Miami offer Camarillo to Minnesota for Sapp? That kind of information would tell us a lot. Was Minnesota desperate for a WR because of the injury to Rice? Minnesota has Berrian, Harvin, and just acquired Javon Walker. All three of those guys are better than Camarillo. Is getting a 4th WR that critical?

Or was Miami desperate for a nickle back? Allen is hurt and so far all the young CB’s (including Davis and Smith) have not been particularly good. I wonder at the end of the day who got the better deal.?

I am so happy we made this trade im not going to lie.

While Camarillo is great, he also peaked for us. Gives are young guys a chance to grow and we got a decent CB out of it. We shouldnt be dissapointed with this trade considering we are helping our $hitty secondary… :) STOKED!!

I like that
$hitty secondary

They’rere expensive AND they’re bad (for now)

I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

by Souwantmyname on Aug 25, 2010 4:21 PM EDT up reply actions

My thoughts....

We needed a veteran presence in the secondary. The Vikings needed help at receiver.
Neither guy is going to be confused as Hall of Famers, and neither guy is going to get better than what they are now.

From what I’ve read, Sapp is a solid nickel back, with plenty of game experience and starts under his belt. Camarillo is a dependable receiver, who makes clutch passes. Where is the downside?

The only person that might be affected by this trade is really Nate Ness…..

reading from the Vikings SB they have Sapp as the odd man out in the CB battle

that’s not a good recommendation

And Cam may have been the odd man out here. Not always a sign that a guy is a bad player

just not as good as the other guys on the roster at that given time.

To me the downside is losing a go to guy for Henne.

That is kind of what Camarillo turned into last year. Bess was good, but when a big reception was needed, it was Camarillo that got targeted. Against the Jets and against the Pats, Camarillo was the one who made the most important catch of the game.

I’m not convinced that Hartline is going to be that type of guy.

We shouldnt have to worry about that anymore. Young guys should gain alot from watching a real pro work. I hope atleast.

by GoNuckingFuts on Aug 25, 2010 4:26 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree. But everyone else on the planet knows that too.

That is why you need someone dependable opposite Marshall. In key game situations, Marshall is going to be doubled or bracketed big time. Someone then has to line up opposite Marshall and beat individual coverage. Can Hartline do that? IDK. Camarillo proved that he could against the Jets and the Pats last year.

Marshall also had better WR's opposite him in Denver.

Don’t forget, Eddie Royal is a very good player. He was injured a lot last year but as a rookie he had 91 catches for almost 1,000 yds. Hartline won’t put up those type of numbers IMO.

And after watching the preseason, Hartline is having trouble separating from the DB. If Camarillo hadn’t been hurt the entire preseason, would he be starting opposite Marshall?

Camarillo has shown that he can get open consistently against opposing teams starting CB's

He has done it two years in a row with 2 different starting QB’s. All I am saying is so far, IMO, Hartline hasn’t shown that he can. I hope he does.

2 Years by Cammy:

’08, 50 receptions, 552 yards 0 TDs
’09 55 receptions, 613 Yards, 2 TDs

He started 16 games in ’09, 11 games in ’08.

Compare to Hartline who started 2 games in ’09
’09 – 31 receptions, 506 yards, 3 TDs

He’s about equaled Camarillo, playing less in his rookie season…. and already eclipsed Cam’s career TD total.

If that was the case

then Cutler would’ve “made” the WR he has in Chicago. Also think of Royal like Percy Harvin, they are both game breakers with the ball in their hand

Well there's a certain #19 that I'm sure will take that role...

Camarillo was the go-to guy because Ginn was unreliable, Bess was double covered and Hartline was a rookie and thus not as reliable. Marshall made Cam’s role of go-to guy obsolete.

Cam has the go-to guy for Henne on the occassion Bess was double covered

Where else could Henne go with the ball?

You can't keep a guy in for only a couple "go to" catches a season...

If thats the reason he’s on the roster, then you have more problems than anything.

Marshall, Hartline and Bess have to the “go to guy” now.

Honestly

I am more happy than upset about this. Usually i would be upset to lose a teamer but that is all that upsets me. Bmarsh is going to be the go-to-guy and now we have a decent corner. I like it.

by GoNuckingFuts on Aug 25, 2010 4:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Me too

Now that we have a bonified #1 in wide reciever we can do these things. We have yet to fine a bonafide corner so we need to help what we have right now. I believe…

Exactly!

That moving pocket play was designed for Camarillo. It set up the 1st and Goal against the Pukes, converted a do-or-die 4th down against the Pats.

I want Hartline to be that guy. He has to be now.
