First off, let me say that I was very impressed with the way our team played on Saturday. The first team offense looked unstoppable at times. Henne looked like the QB we know he can be. He was decisive and efficient. He was getting the ball out of his hands very quickly. Marshall, well Brandon was doing what he does best. Catching the ball in traffic, making key blocks, and extending plays. This guy is the real deal. Fasano looked faster and lighter on his feet. He might be the most improved player at this point. I take it he has made it a point to be Henne's go to guy in the red zone. Fantasy sleeper anyone? R&R did their thing. Patrick Cobbs looks very impressive as a true starting running back. We have depth at QB. I repeat, we have depth at QB. When was the last time we could even say we had one decent QB? I for one am totally against trading any of our QBs. If Henne goes down, I still like our chances with Pennington or Thigpen. The starting O-line looked solid. The backups couldn't give Thiggy anytime but that's why they are backups. I thought Marlon Moore was a bright spot. I think he might win that fifth spot.
Defensively, I thought our starters did a decent job. After that first touchdown they really buckled down and held off a good Jaguars run game. Smith and Davis need to improve though. I liked the pressure we were getting on Gerard. Wake has so much potential. He reminds me a bit of Dwight Freeny. He has a bit of a bull rush, he's extremely quick and has a nice spin move that has been allowing him to constantly disrupt timing. I see a 10+ sack season from him. Starks seem to coming along nicely from his NT position as he recorded a sack last night. The defense, at times, swarmed whoever had the ball. With the exception of our young DBs, I was almost as impressed with the defense.
