The State of the Offense QB edition

Since Training camp is almost upon us I would like to review our offense starting with the Quarterbacks

Henne: "The Robot" as my fellow Phinsider members call him.Knowing that he is the sure starter this year he can prepare for what defenses will throw at him this year. Last year he threw for 2878 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions though the as the season went on he did get better having 3 300 yard passing games in the weeks 14, 15, 16. Henne has said so himself that he needs to cut down on the interceptions. Henne's touchdown numbers were effected last year with putting Ricky or Pat White in to run the wildcat with Ricky usually scoring. Also with the addition of Brandon Marshall he can make QB's like Kyle Orton and Jay Cutler actually look good. Simply put he catches balls that just shouldn't be caught. If Ronnie and Ricky struggle in the beginning of the year Henne will have to step up perform. Henne will have Pennington essentially being his quarterback's coach and insurance policy if Henne struggles. I expect Henne to have 3500-3800 yards and between 18-25 touchdowns depending on how much we use the wildcat in the red zone

Pennington: Now we go to Pennington. In 2008 everybody was shocked including me in how Pennington preformed beyond expectations  throwing for 3653 yards and 19 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Unfortunately after going down against the Chargers he had his 3rd surgery on his shoulder making his weak arm even weaker. Although Pennington has come back from injuries before The two comeback player of the year award show his resiliency in coming back from an injury. I for one am glad they resigned him because he is needed in the development of Henne. As said before Pennington will essentially be an insurance policy and Quarterback coach to Henne.

Thigpen: Thiggy as I like to call him we got for a steal in a 5th round pick really wasn't that bad in Kansas City he was just on a really bad team throwing for 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has shown that he can be thrown into the game if one of our Quarterback's go down as shown in the Steelers game last year he preformed exceptionally well after Pat White went down throwing 1 touchdown and two interceptions not bad for someone who was thrown into the game.IMO Thigpen should have been put in after Henne went down last year instead of White. After Pennington retires or leaves the team I could see Thigpen being Henne's backup.

White: Lastly Pat White who did not preform well in his Rookie season attempting 5 passes completing none of them rushing for 81 yards. White showed very little accuracy and very little awareness when he was put in. In order for him to be apart of this team he will have to at least improve on his accuracy and awareness. Also White has made very clearly that he will not play wide receiver saying that he would rather play baseball than play receiver. I don't know how much longer White will be on the team. Last year we drafted him two high for the second round. I think he is a wait and see project but I don't know how much longer the front office will have faith in him. I do not mean to hate on white I want him to succeed as much as the next person

If this enough people like this I will make a State of the Offense RB edition
