I know this is the third day in a row that I've posted about this guy. All of the most up to date links are in the last one I did. Nothing has changed. The issue here is obviously money.
I can't help but assume at this point that his injuries and borderline age are factoring much more than he expected. Seeing a guy like Antrel Rolle get paid like he did had to have made OJ feel like he would be in that range. I think if anyone was in that range that OJ would have at least been visiting with them by now.
Another factor that I think is playing a part here is playing for a winner. There's 32 teams out there and it's hard for me to imagine that someone out that isn't at least a high bidder that he'd be visiting with right now. It makes me think that OJ has narrowed that list down to successful teams and now he's thinking long and hard about that because of the vast difference in offers and his opinion of worth. I imagine that if he considers the money of a lesser established roster then he might be getting feelers for higher offers. Just me speculating but it makes sense in my mind.
The only other factor that I'm beginning to consider is his ability to pass a physical. He could be buying time in order to ensure that he's healthy at the time of a visit. That could be why he's not going on visits right now since there's a chance he'd have to avoid a physical if pressed to take one.
This whole thing is very interesting from the timing of his availability to the lack of activity now that he's available. There's no denying what he's done up to this point in his career. Those injuries must be playing a factor in this because without them I think this guy is within 10% of what Rolle got paid.
Miami hasn't said no so I would assume that means yes for the right price. The salary isn't the key here, it's the guaranteed money. If we're forced to pull a Girbril with OJ next year then those salaries mean nothing. So how much guaranteed dough do you think OJ is worth?
