First and foremost, what is the face of a franchise? To me, the face of a franchise is a single player which represents a team and/or the location of a team. When you think of this player, he must be active within the community and has to be good at what he does. No offense to any players, but you won’t find someone with limited skills being the face of a franchise.
Some may disagree with me and say that skill and active in the community isn’t the only thing involved when picking the face. It may also take favorism (cool word, huh?). Certain players that are liked more than others. This can also be possible, because many would consider Hanley Ramirez the face of the Marlins, but I personally don’t like him that much.
When you think of a team, this player will come to mind.
Example:
Vikings: Adrian Peterson
Dolphins: ??????
Does the position affect who is the face of the franchise? I would like to think so. The QB position is the main position in football and if you have a good QB, chances are he is your face. But this is not always the case. When you have an outstanding player at another position that excels that of a QB, then most likely he is the face.
Now my question to you is, who is the face of the franchise for the Miami Dolphins:
This should be rather interesting.
