PrintThat's right, everyone. It's that time of the year again!
The NFL season is just around the corner and it's time to start organizing our 2010 Phinsider Fantasy League. This year we will be using the award-winning CBSSports.com Fantasy Football Commissioner, which is just the most ridiculous (in a good way, that is) fantasy product ever created. No other website's Fantasy Football Commissioner is as customizable as CBSSports.com's product.
Our main league will consist of 10 teams this year. I will be one of them. And "LeftCoastFinFan" also gets a guaranteed spot because he won the league championship last year. The other eight spots are open and will be decided by a lottery that I will hold next week.
So if you want to be in our main league, please comment below. It is absolutely free to join our main league.
The draft will be a live online draft and is tentatively scheduled for Sunday August 22 at 7:30 eastern time.
You need to make it known that you want to be involved in the lottery by Thursday June 24. I will announce the lucky users who get in on either Friday or Saturday.

If you don’t do it, I would make a “Fantasy League Fanpost” and just ask everyone to post their leagues as comments. Then, if someone is interested they can either email the league manager, or posta reply to the comment.
Otherwise, I do think this place will get crazy.

I have two leagues I play in every season, one of them keeps all the players, so never really ends. I usually pick up two, or three more single season leagues, so I am covered if I don’t get in. I WANT in, mind you, but if I don’t, I wouldn’t throw my monitor out the window if I didn’t get in.

I don’t post as much as others, as I usually catch the posts late enough that there are already a critical mass of posts, and am not sure anything I say will be noticed, I still check the site daily. If you really want to see if we are up to snuff, go 14 teams. You REALLY have to work for it at 14. My main league is a 14 team Dynasty league, where we keep our entire rosters year, after year, only drafting rookies each season. It can be really tough to increase your position during the season, but the ability to trade draft picks helps.

A Dynasty League
Now that sounds fun…I just usually play the Yahoo Public ones…but a dynasty league…now that takes some skill!

Plus, everyone has an opportunity to draft every single player. Its just a matter of how much you are willing to bid on them.

Dynasty league is awesome, not tried auction
I am excited this year that I will be joining a dynasty league year one, so I will be able to build it from the ground up. My first pick will be Aaron Rodgers, if I have a high enough pick. Drafting for a Dynasty league is completely counter intuitive compared to a single year league. Drafting RB’s early may give you success for a year, or two, but getting a franchise QB, early in his career, and a couple of young stud receivers will bring you more long term success. RB’s last 4 or 5 years, while quality receivers, and QB’s can last over a decade. Oh, and if you are one of those who draft D’s a little bit early, you will be screwed long term. D’s rise, and fall. You have a few perennially good D’s, but for the most part, the difference between teams, over a decade, isn’t that great.
I would like to try an auction someday, but I would need to know more about how they work.

Thats not too bad if you are in some money leagues...
I pay that plus between $200-$500 × 4 for leagues every single year. Love it.
Granted, most of my leagues are auction leagues with live in person drafts, but still…

i hate to really be the heel here but i think it really should be said. umm matty. i have been on this site for two years. yes granted when i had my wreck and was laid up i missed all of last season. and trust me i am not signing up on this league for i dont think i have earned the right yet.
but i have seen so many names on here that i have not seen at all. so i think maybe yo ushould have a better consideration for the guys who are here almost all the time and keeping this site alive over the ones who are just now coming out of the wood work to sign up.

I would love the opportunity to face off with my fellow fins fans. It would be really interesting to watch us all go after the players on our team that have all of a sudden become very relevant in fantasy football. Will Bess get the nod when Marshall draws double coverage hell yes he will- he will finish with 100 receptions this year. And do not sleep on Henne. He is the leader of this TEAM and he is worth a late round pick because he will definately finish in the top 12 this year for QB’s. I play this game, and I think that I will be able to compete. So give me a shot!
