I'm not saying we're going to be OTA champion. I'll leave that to Channing Crowder, but I believe we were OTA champions again this year. One of these days, we're going to be Super Bowl champions. We'll see when that is, sooner rather than later.
-Jets coac Rex Ryan, who is at it again.
It's no big deal of Rex wants to continually say his team is going to win the Super Bowl. You and me both know that's not happening - at least not this year. But why does that obnoxious loudmouth have to bring up the Dolphins so much?
I know why. He's scared. That's why.

Well he came out in the media and claimed that Shula and Landry were
cheating and that the NFL just turned the other cheek because of who he was. He of course make all kinds of over the top comments that would probably get him in to all kinds of trouble with Goodell these days. He also got in a fist fight with another coach on the side line and challenged his head coach (Ditka) to a fist fight at half time of the Miami game because Marino was torching his defense and Ditka was understandable upset about it.

He’s not going to call his team OTA Champions, then goes ahead and does it the very next sentence? Some people should not be allowed to speak to the media.

1) He gets more Name recognition from the Jets Coach mentioning him.
2) He gets more fan support!
… Because I want him to start against the Jets and destroy them.
(Something he truly needs after the way he played last season)
this is what I was thinking
last year Rex was all “who is this crowder guy”.

Come on, guys!
It’s funny. He is referencing the crap last year, and poking a little bit of fun at himself, as well as Crowder. I hate the Jets as much as the next guy, but not to the point that I can’t see a little bit of self deprecating humor as being funny. He’s arrogant, and a loudmouth, yes, but he can poke fun at himself, and is genuinely funny. This is why his players love him. There has been a war of words between the Pets, and the Phins for time immemorial, so why shouldn’t he become a part of it. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Crowder eventually end up as a Jet, to be honest with you. He has never really seemed to be a Dolphin to me, anyway. More mouth than production. Kind of reminds me of Brian Cox, without the talent. I can’t wait to see what he will come back with.

I really don't appreciate the hypocrisy here.
Ross makes a Super Bowl prediction and he’s just being a good owner and Dolphin fan who’s showing proper support for his team. Ryan talks Super Bowl and he’s a classless jerk. That’s blind homerism to the utmost.
“But I take issue with the Crowder comments!”, you say. Well, Channing all but admitted last year that that little “feud” was “not a big deal” and really nothing more than an overblown, media-driven non-story—a case of Channing giving local reporters something to write about. In fact, he’s even said that he kind of likes Rex.

Don't think I was calling you, or anyone, out specifically.
But I think my point warrants merit.
Objecting… no and yes. Ryan is loud and boisterous, yes, but he fully supports his team and hasn’t ever hurt anyone with his words. I give him credit for being a masterful motivator and appearing to have the media hanging on his every word. Besides, if Tony Sparano went to a Mets game or something and flipped off a Jets fan, you know he’d championed as some sort of wonderful hero by a great number of Dolphin fans.

I see a huge difference. I have seen other owners make claims that their teams are
SB ready. Having confidence is your own team is one thing. I do not think Rex did anything wrong but that does not make his statement or the way he handles himself any less classless. I personally hope that we are never saddled with a head coach that comes off as a total buffoon.
As far as Sparano flipping off a Jets fan its not something that would ever happen because he would not allow himself to act like a clown.
That whole Ryan family is classless. Always has been always will be.

yea of course our Fo likes to keep things in house
so when Crowder is making media headlines he is drawing unwanted attention to the Fo which is why i said Ross’s comments were unnecessary because the Fo doesnt want that kind of attention, and if you noticed when Sparano was asked about Ross’s comments he didnt come out saying "yea were playing in a super bowl in februrary "

I think he was seeing the correlations between last year, and this year, and realized that, once he had said something about how confident he was, that Crowder would probably pop off again, as he did last year. If it’s going to go down that way anyway, why not be the instigator, and have a little fun with it? I’m not saying that he’s my hero, or anything like that, I am just saying that this isn’t a big deal.

I think you do want attention on your team
that’s how you sell out games and make money. Nobody is going to tell their entire fanbase “we’re probably gonna be mediocre this year, buy tickets now!” Ross talks Super Bowl and how great Henne can be, the fans are interested. He doesn’t have to live up to any expectations, because he owns the team. What’s he gonna do, fire himself? Let him talk. It does no harm at all.
And Ryan might lack class, but his players love him, so it has no adverse affects to his team, and the only people that seem to get pissed off at what he does is us..

I know but dont you think all 32 owners believe their team can make it to a super bowl
im sure they do but they don’t all have to say it publicly.. my point was that words really wont sell you that much more tickets its all about action..trading for Brandon Marshall, signing Karlos Dansby, and most of all winning games
and sure he can talk all he wants but its the team and the coaches that has to live up to his words
as for Rex Ryan i really dont even care about him, but Matty keeps posting his quotes and you cant help but to say somethin

do you think the team is dreading having to live up to the owners Super Bowl claim?
Have you ever gone into a game saying “ohh man, I wish our coach hadn’t said we were gonna win…” I’ll answer it for you. NO. All these guys have Super Bowl aspirations every year, there is no other goal in the NFL. No player goes into the year thinking 8-8 is a success. Having the owner vocalize the team’s goals doesn’t heap added pressure onto anyone.

well said
rec’d. Couldn’t agree more. Fact of the matter is, we shouldn’t constantly talk about the guy and piss all over ourselves whenever he says something, he’s NEVER beat us as a Head Coach. Let it go guys..
Two things are true about Rex. 1, his team loves him and loves playing for him. 2, his defensive scheme is one of the best in the business and he’s one of the smartest defensive minds in football. I hate his guts because he’s the Jets head coach, but I can appreciate the fact (yes, fact) that he’s a good coach and he gets the absolute most out of his players.

because he can talk trash but it is hypocritical for us to talk trash in response?
i think the point of this exercise IS to trash the other team/coach/player…. it’s called a “rivalry”.

I remember hating Chad Pennington because of the green and white, too.

Ponder
Is it just me? or have you noticed how everyone seems to “respect” how Coach Rex handles himself with the media or just how appealing his personality is to everybody. Well, from what I can read, the man is just sweating and bleeding Robert Green’s; “48 Laws of Power.” ;)
For all of you that already know the game: Respect. Never heard of it? read it.(specially Laws 4,12,28, and 34)
August here yet!?
Dude I have no freaking idea what you were trying to say there.
