Since he's effectively dead in the water (at least to the FO), I'm launching a poll: where will he go?
All seven need o-line help. Browns and Bears could use him the most-as a starter.
As much as I like Smiley, I understand that the FO wants to build the line and make it a power-running line. I'm not happy about losing Smiley since he can still contribute, but he'll help some team and I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes.
Now that my depressive monologue is over, I'm going to look at the probable o-line starters.
LT: Jake Long. The man is a beast. Plain and simple.
LG: John Jerry. He is a mauler in the run game. I was shocked that the Dolphins were able to draft him. He has one of the better chances to start as a rookie. Long and Jerry forms a nasty left side that Ronnie, Ricky, Patrick, Lex, Kory, and Pat White will love running behind.
C: Joe Berger. I'm not a stats geek, but Pro Football Focus rates him as deserving of more snaps. I personally think he will start, mainly cause he'll be motivated enough that he'll beat out Jake Grove this season. Here's the link:
RG: Richie Incognito. When he's not headbutting people, his coaches, the fans, or the bench; he's a decent guard. Plus, I think the FO would rather have Garner come off the bench as a highly-valuable reserve.
RT: Vernon Carey. He and Long form an excellent offensive tackle duo, one of the better ones in the league. Dolphins have no reason to not start him.
