I attended my 1st Miami Dolphins game in 1985. The Detroit Lions in the old Pontiac Silverdome. The year before Fins were in the Superbowl and Detroit,......well, they've always been Detroit. Marino, as we all learned, equaled excitement. This was goingto be a great game to see and a for sure win. That was not the case as the Dolphins lost. But the hook was set, going to the game live and in person is so much better than watching it on TV at home,...for me. So, from then until he retired if the Dolphins were in Detroit, Cleveland, Cincy, Buffalo, Indy, and even once in Pittsburgh I was there. Marino blows up his Achilles not once but twice,......I was at both games ( Cleveland & Indy ). For the record,...I had a perfect view of Scott Mitchell's 1st pass in that game that was intercepted and ran 80-90 yards for a TD. The Dolphins eventually won that game. But back to Dan, that guy was INTENSE ! I never thought they were out of a game with him under center. I like defensive players, the guys who brought the pain. But, Marino had his own brand of toughness to the table. I remember watching someone put him on his back ( I think B. Smith ) and as the guy was laying on top of him he grabbed his facemask and barked something at him. Intensity,.......I like it !!!! What I would have given to hear just what he said. And, how sexy is the deep ball,....VERY ! What about his footwork, dude couldn't outrun an 80 year old lady with two hip replacements, but he had the sweetest, smoothest sidestep in the pocket I've ever seen !! Fake spike game,....I remember right were I was at. By myself at a sports bars in Cleveland, Ohio. Ahhhh,......the memories. Thanks Dan !!! You are a Dolphin Legend........
The start to Dan's HOF weekend....
I can be alittle arts & crafty at times. I made this after that weekend..........lets look at the bottom pic a little closer.
Cheap camera, back of the stadium,........yeah I got the ball in flight !!
Dan Marino, Dolphin legend. Period.
