it was a masking agent COMMONLY used during the down portion

of a steroid cycle….

When AAS are put into a male body, the body’s natural negative-feedback loops cause the body to shut down its own production of testosterone via shutdown of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis (HPGA). This causes testicular atrophy, among other things. hCG is commonly used during and after steroid cycles to maintain and restore testicular size as well as normal testosterone production17.

The writers got this wrong….this revote came out VERY VERY wrong. What kind of a message does this send to youth athletes? It basically says, sure, its against the rules, but noone will take away your accomplishments…. It sends the wrong message.

The league has the worst message in the world, that felons like Michael Vick are even allowed back into the league, and now writers make sure that people that clearly cheat don’t lose recognition…..its insane.

Unless Cushing has a tumor, or is actually a female and using it as a fertility drug….the usage was clearly an attempt to hide the steroid usage, and I can’t see how ANYONE would support this decision.

I’m sorry MPF, but you are definitely wrong on this one.

So there I was.....asleep when it happened.....the buzzing of the blackberry woke me up....still groggy, I rubbed my eyes, and read the incoming email.

Then I had a beer....took the day off work, and bought a box of condoms.

I feel if the NFL didnt feel it important enough to do something about it while the season was going last year.. then it was not important enough to matter.

Also there is nothing in the voting or award process that states that If you are caught with a banned substance in you then you lose the award or anything. If they want to rewrite the rules or whatnot then fine. But you cant just impose new rules after the vote is done. You cant change the rules in the middle of a game or something. The rules do not allow for riping the award away from him. Change the rules of the award and we will never have this happen again.

A couple things...

If the writers knew about the looming suspension, then he surely would not have gotten the award in the first vote.

Because the appeals process allowed him to play the rest of the season (otherwise he’d have had a 4 game suspension mid-season last year)….

And, the steroid effects would have helped him get thru the “Rookie Wall” by allowing him to recharge faster earlier in the season…..

The first vote, the writers simply didn’t have all of the information because of the confidentiality agreement with the NFL testing procedure. Once the vote was made, many of voters again stated they still didn’t have all of the information and that is why they revoted for Cushing….

Just pathetic. Whatever happened to "Cheaters never prosper?" I guess prosper means to receive a just punishment for one's improper actions.

That one South Park episode where Cartman teaches high school kids to cheat to get ahead in life using Bill Belicheat as a real world example just looks more and more honest and accurate.
