Misi definitely looks a lot better in run support than he does rushing.

by urbino on May 1, 2010 1:27 AM EDT reply actions

As for Odrick...

well, as long as we play LSU more than Iowa, he’ll be fine. Iowa’s in the NFC, right?

Odrick is a Badd Azz!

JONES

After seeing that, I can definitely see him being our SS when Bell moves on. I dont know how great he is in coverage, but WOW is he just a beast strength wise. He seems to be great in run support as well.

Also...

Looks as if he has tremendous ball skills

When we play Dallas,

I want to see the same kind of hit that Jones did in college on Dez Bryant. That’s what I want to see – him being welcomed to the NFL by Davis, Smith, Jones – all sending the regards of Bill, Jeff and Tony. I can’t stand that man. I want Miami to play with the same intensity of the Hurricanes of the 80’s. I want them to hit and to rush and to drop the QB in every single game. That’s what I want. Show them film of the U in the 80’s and 90’s. That’s what I want. I am so fed up with people knocking Miami and finding any ridiculous statement that is made and blown out of proportion. Beat everyone. Smash them. Rout them. SHOW NO MERCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did you see that hit he made i the LSU game 1:12, he body slammed that guy

anyone still doubting the scouting skills of the Tri?

these guys continue to prove they are the best of the best and picking no name rookies again that will start year one again is just beyond impressive.

Everyone constantly forgets

We aren’t looking for simply the best college guys. We’re looking for who works in our system. So guys like Misi and Edds might not be the big ticket names (throw in Odrick), but they are solid players who’s skills will be effectively utilized by Sparano.

Its easy to hate all day and get trigger happy on our FO but I’m having fun watching them work. It just takes some patience…..

I see why they liked Misi

He does it all! I really liked how you’d think he was blocked and he’d shrug it off and tackle the runner. Seems like he possesses some smarts, enough to not get fooled often. He’s got plenty of power, and he got into the backfield pretty often. I like that play where he gets blocked but still runs down the RB. Motor is right.

RESHAD BABY!!!

That is one bad man right there!!! Im a canes fan and never saw much of this guy but this video just got me hyped up. Even if he doesn’t work at FS he looks like he’ll be a nasty SS after Bell is gone. Reminds a little bit of Ryan Clark who I was hoping we would’ve signed earlier. All in all can’t be anything but excited for the upcoming season. Keep up the good work phinsider fam and GO FINS!!!

Reshad Jones hits like a Mack Truck

Let’s just hope his route-reading skills can develop under the Trifecta. A lot of the picks in that highlight reel were basically thrown right to him. That one-handed pick on Demaryius Thomas was pretty cool, even though it was in some pretty tight double coverage. He clearly has the athleticism to be a ball-hawk. Just needs to football intelligence.

I'm still in shock that D. Thomas went in the first

they really know how to evaluate talent over there

Thomas in the 1st, Tim Tebow, Akin Ayodele… Trading away Cutler, Marshall, Sheffler and Hillis. LOL McDaniel’s and his GM has to be the worst hire ever

maybe he will start

Sparano kind of left it up in the air between Jones and cleo, he mentioned he wanted someone smart, not necessarily the fastest but someone who could play smart cover the space and make tackles. Hopefully reshad shows some maturity and what the staff wants because it doesn’t sound like there looking for a traditional fs

Koa Misi

It’s still hard for me to get excited about this kid. I don’t hate the pick but every video I see of him I just can’t get excited. I see him not getting off blocks, not getting to the quarterback, getting to the quarterback after another guy has him wrapped up, etc.

I still see a lot of that in the video Matty posted, but I hadn’t seen him run stopping before, and that part of the video was so impressive it basically looked like a highlight reel.

by Bread on May 1, 2010 1:01 PM EDT reply actions

I'm with you man

its really hard to believe that our entire draft revolved around this guy. I see nothing special in his play. Perhaps the Senior Bowl did us a disservice in that he may be a team leader and have a great motor but he is seriously limited athletically. 243 OLB is not going to cut it. I thought JT was too small for the ROLB and he played at 260!

I really dont have any expectation’s for this guy whatsoever. I hope he proves me wrong but damn I think we missed again in the 2nd round

Ireland said he had been tracking Misi since his Junior year.

He played at Utah with Sean Smith.

http://playoffboundsports.wordpress.com/2010/04/24/jeff-ireland-quotables-day-2/

They’ve seen him in person and they have terabytes of video on him. He’s not just a guy who flashed at the Senior Bowl and suddenly caught Ireland’s attention.

playing ROLB is not always about getting sacks and getting ujp allthose sacks i guess you don't appreciate the fact that

Koa Misi can not only penetrate but Cover, and stop the run. he may not be that special pass time rusher but he can do it all something i value highly in a Linebacker. he also plays with alot heart and has a great motor soon we will forget about J.T and J.P.

Reshad Jones

by ricenbeans82 on May 1, 2010 2:36 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

i'm really impressed with tape of reshad jones.....i was hoping for more of a "true" centerfielder.....

but this guy is ready to play defense in the nfl……..he hits like a pro………..not sure about his cover skills but he does have a knack for finding the ball and he can run when he gets it……

Just one man's opinion...

Safeties are the last line of defense, and are thus expected to be sure tacklers.

You think he does that? I do.

The free safety tends to be smaller and faster than the strong safety. His job tends to be to keep some distance from the line of scrimmage, watch the play unfold, and follow the ball.

You think he does that? I do.

On pass plays, the free safety is expected to assist the cornerback on his side and to close the distance to the receiver by the time the ball reaches him.

You think he does that? I do.

Free safeties, because of their speed and deep coverage, are often prone to catching interceptions.

You think he does that? I do.

Can’t wait for this guy to tear up the field. I feel ashamed I don’t know bess’s number off the top of my head but if rgm can get his number reversed. I don’t know why but ill find that amusing. Is it too early to call him a jet killer??
