And with the 27th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, The Miami Dolphins select...

With all the talk of both Earl Thomas' visits and a potential swap of first round picks with Dallas, it seems increasingly likely that we will be trading down our 12th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft for The Cowboys 27th pick.  A few days ago, I mentioned someone should make a fanpost about who we would take with the 27th pick for two reasons, which you can see after the jump:

Star-divide

1. I'm lazy.

2.  I don't really follow NCAA football, personally, but I love watching the videos of potential draft picks that members of this great community (a little flattery to make front page!) post from time to time.

Alas, I can't wait any longer and really want to start researching potential draftees... so my question to The Phinsider Community: if we trade down our #1 pick in exchange for Dallas' first pick, who would you want The Dolphins to select at 27th overall?

This fanpost was written by one of The Phinsider's registered users.

I agree with all three

would have to do some due diligence to decide on a favorite of that trio.

IF the FO

want an OLBer in round 1 I expect they try to trade down. Kindle/Hughes/Graham I expect would be the choice. All 3 could be SSLBers having been decent at worse against the run then in round 2/3 draft a Sapp/Norwood for the other side

Thomas is a serious project at WR. He has no experience running routes, and no experience reading any kind of defense.

He’s going to take a lot of time to get on the field, because that quirky offense inflated his effectiveness.

at 27?

I’m looking at best available OLB, unless some guy like Earl Thomas or Dez fell that far, which I doubt. I’m thinking Jerry Hughes, Sean Weatherspoon, Sergio Kindle, Brandon Graham…basically whoever’s left at that spot.

The other option would be reaching a little for Terrence Cody…but I’d still rather take the OLB.

And

He can’t cover. Despite common perception, coverage is – indeed – a moderately important attribute when it comes to the free safety position.

one hell of a backup at the very least and still one of the cheapest guys on the team.

To elaborate:

He took the paycut last year because he didn’t feel he lived up to his salary in ’08, but he played well in ’09 which could very well mean that he feels that he deserves compensation, which he does.

If he signs with The Jets for just 1.5, then it’s a huge slap in the face to Dolphin fans.
