Sims-Walker is becoming a fan favorite in Jacksonville.
Once a week, he invites all his twitter followers to a "Jag Night on Mike". Sometimes he takes his fans to the movies, bowling, etc... Actually the next one is tonight!
All MSW (that's Mike Sims-Walker for the slow people) twitter followers are invited to Dave & Busters in Jacksonville to watch the Orlando Magic game and eat some food at 8pm!
From MSW's twitter: "Jag nite at dave n busters in the show room tonite @8pm for the magic game, free food in drink! Everyone invited!" http://twitter.com/MIKESIMSWALKER
I thought that was a very cool way for him to show his appreciation to his fans and the city of Jacksonville in general.
If Brandon Marshall truly wants to rehabilitate his image then this is perfect. He can show everyone that the man he was in the press conference is the man that actually is walking this earth. If he wants to be sure that this fan base is behind him then getting out there and doing something like what MSW does is the answer.
There are still plenty of people out there that think badly of Brandon Marshall. I'll say that I'm still undecided although I'm very excited for his on the field production. Those people who don't approve of Marshall might not attend an event like that but when they speak up I promise someone that does attend will pass on the experience. They'll tell that person that they had a chance to meet him up close and that at the least they've decided to give the guy a chance.
I call it good karma and I hope Brandon Marshall follows MSW's example. It's great to help charity but these days there are just as many regular fans out there that can use the help as well. This is how you attach a player or team to a family memory and those are the kind of memories that count when it's time to sell tickets and buy merchandise that represents a player.
