I wouldn't say it's a sense of relief but it's always good to have a new start.

Going out to the 49'ers is going to give me a brand new start. Leaving Miami, you know, I hold no grudges. I don't have no bad feelings about them or anything. It's just my time was up there and now it was time to move on.

-Ted Ginn

Love him or hate him, he seems like a good kid and has always been a classy person. I wish him the absolute best of luck in San Francisco.

I sincerely hope he does

and I don’t think anyone can say “oh look, he’s awesome, we should’ve kept him” because it wasn’t going to happen here. Nobody gave him much credit for the good things he did, and every time he didn’t make a huge play he was booed by his own stadium. Dude was never going to be very good here as long as the fans hated him like they do.

True, very true

Of course Tom Brady has to marry someone with Giz in her name. How fitting???

Where is Oronde Gadsden when we need him?

by FinzD54 on Apr 16, 2010 5:39 PM EDT up reply actions

I hear what your saying....

And I really wish him the best. I for one wish he could have stayed another year because Marshalls acquistion was only gonna benefit Ginn. I just know that if he does have success there will be people who are going to cry that they wish we had kept him, and yes I am sure there will also be the ones who so badly wanted Ginn out of here saying the same thing. Like you said, I imagine its extremely hard to play in a stadium full of people booing you. Well since Ginn doesnt have any hard feelings, even towards the ones who couldnt stand him from the second he was drafted, lets wish him the best with his new team.

he couldve been good regardless of what the fans think

look at mcnabb hes done great but hes never appreciated for what he does well

and with everyone getting on Ginn for Cam picking him 9th overall they forget what he really is and instead hate him because hes not a #1

there's a difference

McNabb is mentally strong, as well as one of the best QB’s in the NFL, and he was cheered FAR MORE than he was booed in Philly. It was rare that McNabb was booed louder than the opposing team, which was the case in just about every home game for Ted Ginn.

And I’m saying people had a reason to hate him. It was irrational and ridiculous, but it is what it is, and he was hated here.

Not enough for him

He needs a change of scenary and I’m happy for him but I just can’t except a 5th rd pick for him. If I had a zillion dollars, I’d bet it all that the player we pick won’t even be on the team by the end of the season.

by crossborderFISHingtrip on Apr 16, 2010 5:27 PM EDT reply actions

Santonio Holmes got a 5th round pick too

I think considering that, we got a pretty good return for him

by Jtpdolphins2009 on Apr 16, 2010 5:42 PM EDT up reply actions

And Moss was traded for a 4th

Then we should have traded Holmes for Ginn.
I just feel that teams over-value draft picks. The top 3 rounds sure, but the 5th round is where special teamers and specail projects come from.

by crossborderFISHingtrip on Apr 16, 2010 5:46 PM EDT up reply actions

we obviously didn't want Holmes

and remember, he’s suspended for 4 games, possibly more if he gets in trouble one more time between now and the season, and is a FA next year that will be looking for big money. So even if we did trade for him, it would be a 12 game rental and then he’s gone. I’d rather take a chance on Parcells finding somebody worth a damn in the 5th round of the deepest draft in 30 years.

Quantity over Quality

I probably should put this in a fan post, but I disagree with all the experts that this a deep draft:
1 good QB and 3 late 1st/early 2nd rd picks
1 good WR (Bryant)
1 good RB (Spiller)
1 good TE (Greshaim)
2 good LT (Okung and Williams)
1 good CB (Haden)
2 good S (Berry and Bennett)
0 good DE’s (a whole bunch of maybes).

I could go on but I hope you see the point.

I think you are kind of missing the point

The Jets STOLE Holmes from the Steelers

Just because they both got 5th round picks in a trade, does not mean they could have been traded straight up. If I was the Steelers I sure as heck wouldn’t have traded Holmes for Ginn, but that is just me :)

Nice, good kid...

not so good a football player.

The truth hurts some times but it doesn’t becomes any less valid.

For the record, I hope he does well and in SF, I think he’ll be judged not as a colossal 1st round mistake, as he was here, but as a mid-tier guy who can be a good returner and chip in a few catches here and there.

He’s simply not good enough to live up to the billing, draft status, and expectations he had here in Miami. In SF, he’s just another guy and that’s best for him.

for a 5th rounder?

rather woulda seen him a season not being the primary, with double coverage on Marshall id like to see Ginn 1on1 deep with any corner on the league.

Oh yea and he coulda told Marshall where Revis Island is, he passed it on the way to a 53 yard TD on Monday Night Football

having Marshall on this team doesnt mean he will catch more passes

He never really had much of a problem getting open, he just couldn’t catch the ball when it was thrown to him. Having Marshall here now, isn’t going to change that

You couldnt be more wrong

Dolphins only big gain threat was Ginn, teams were forced to play over the top aka double team. Thats like saying Bess wont catch more passes because of Marshall opening up the field

looks to me like you are the one who is 100% wrong lol

Ginn had problems with catching the ball, not getting open

Your comment makes no sense

You automatically assume that if Ginn lined up opposite Marshall, that he would make more catches, but he still has to CATCH THOSE PASSES. He couldn’t catch the football, and Marshall would not have helped that.

Two much of a nice guy

He was drafted because Cam “the Clown” Cameron wanted a player without the Prima Donna attitude that makes top WR’s actually believe they are top WR’s and for a few actually play like they are top WR’s.

He is a 5th round player. Making top dollars.

It is pretty sad to see how that draft class turns out

I was so excited back then with Ginn, Beck, Lorenzo Booker, Satele. That looks so promising then. To think that we only have a punter and backup NT to show for it!

Anyway, that’s in the pass. Good luck in San Francisco, Ginn! It just wasn’t meant to be here…

by Aqua Blue Sweater on Apr 17, 2010 12:31 AM EDT reply actions

true true.

Booker seemed to have potential.

Funny how things work out. Mang I feel bad for this guy. Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember Cam trying to calm the draft day crowd, “wait til’ you see this guy returning punts!”. Even then matty was all like, “a number nine better do more than return punts and kick offs”.

Seems like his likelihood of becoming a number one was doomed from the start. Oh well.

He wasn’t tough enough.

by meemo on Apr 17, 2010 1:20 AM EDT reply actions

Parcells did a great job to get a 5th

considering Holmes was dealt for the same rd. If we would’ve held on the Ginn for another year and he regressed we couldn’t give him away WITH a draft pick.

Parcells is great with picks in the mid round area. I am very excited about this comming draft. Also I’m fully expecting to hear about (at least) 2 more trades for picks before we go on the clock Thursday.

Man, move Ronnie for a 3rd.
Thigpen for a 4th.
Smiley for a 3rd/4.
Move back a couple of spots get that 2nd.

We could kill it this draft. And we already got money in the bank with Beast.

with a bunch or 2/3rd round pick in THIS draft, we could easily get 3-4, maybe 5 starters this year.
