Pat White would rather throw changeups than passes...

If it hasn't already been posted and since there were some recent comments about what Santonio Holmes had put on his twitter account, here's one from everyone's favorite 2nd round pick....

Star-divide

Pat White muses about playing baseball over receiver

Dolphins quarterback Pat White, who at this time last year was regarded as an intriguing Wildcat-type prospect who could possibly develop into a full-time quarterback but whose future could be at receiver, was a disappointment as a rookie after being drafted in round two by the Dolphins as a quarterback.  There has been talk that he could be a training-camp casualty.

White recently launched a Twitter account, which we learned about when Texans running back Steve Slaton started stumping for followers for his former WVU teammate.  On Monday, White stated out of the blue that he's "better off going back to baseball than playing WR".

White was an accomplished baseball player.  Drafted multiple times during his college football career, there's reason for him to think the window could still be open.  He later explained that "it was just what I was feeling at the time so I said it," which of course is the logical genesis of the vast majority of human speech.  The real question is what prompted White to feel at the time that he's better off playing baseball than receiver?

Even if the comment wasn't a direct reaction to a topic that the team had broached with him, White essentially has put the Dolphins on notice of the fact that he won't be happy about the prospect of changing positions.

At least the Catcher could catch what he threw

If this post contains no substance, just assume that my answer is Brandon Marshall. Pay the 1st and 3rd, get the proven guy, and don't worry about that position for the next decade.

Ever have that dream, where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you? Why am I the only one that has that dream.

It wasn't posted

I forgot about this article from earlier.

I hope White feels the same way about returning bonus money when he’s posed with making the choice of playing baseball or trying WR.

I’m fairly sure the Yanks own his rights so as a Yanks fan at least I’ll have a chance to get something out of Pat White at some time in my life.

Go get Suh if at all possible.

Yeah but worthy of more than just a fanshot.

Not the smartest thing IMO to basically the world, including your bosses at work, that you’d rather do another job…

Saw something about this

Its just his lil way of saying he doesn’t want to play WR. Like BP cares.

Roth was POd when they first switched him to LB

Seems like it paid off……

Of course you’d like to see a little fire from the guy (PW)…something a little more to the tune of…“Play WR? Why yes!! Anything to be in the NFL!! Just let me know what I can do!!”….Yes, that would make a lame tweet but if he’s not open to embracing a hybrid role then it was definitely a wasted pick…..

I think we really don't know how that conversation goes

This tweet was just idle conversation while he was in a car waiting for his mother, aunt and grandma to come out of the store.

These guys need to have Twitter lessons. Too easy to forget you aren’t just making jokes with your friends.

Anyway, my point is that I agree with you, I just don’t think this tweet gives us any idea whether he reacts well or badly… or even whether anyone even wants him to move to WR.

I think people are reading way too much into that.

I don’t know if you were quoting an article or not, but it seemed to me like harmless chatter, not any serious response.

Do I think he wants to be a WR? No.

Do I think that was in any way an actual threat? No.

Moments after that tweet:

“When Texans RB (and former West Virginia teammate) Steve Slaton chimed in, White answered @Steve20Slaton with, "man u know I ain’t going nowhere. Just had to stir the pot real quick."”

And I think it was a bit unfair of whoever wrote that not to post the full context of the last tweet quote:

"Lol I guess I need to clear things up… No no no no to all the questions It was just what I was feeling at the time so I said it."

That first half of the tweet gives it a very different feel than if you look just at the second. This is a guy who was making idle conversation, like, “oh man, not wide receiver!” not a guy threatening to quit football.

Worst player in the NFL?

He’s not even the worst player on our team.

Guy has thrown five passes and you are ready to declare him the worst player in football. Seems a little premature.

I thought we all knew that White was going to be a project. Personally, I would want to see how he looks this year, see if he shows any growth, before I write him off completely.

dude he doesnt deserve to be in the nfl

i said it when he was in college. he isnt a project. he is shit. u can believe whatever u want dude but my opinion has always been that pat white isnt good enough to be in the nfl. he is too small and doesnt have the skill set to be an nfl player.

The title is confusing given what he actually said

I assume you meant “Pat White would rather throw changeups than CATCH passes”?
