Alex Brown, the 6'3", 260 lb. linebacker defensive end and former (as of today) Chicago Bear is now on the open market. This guy has put up something like 43.5 sacks over eight hard-working years, and guess what: he's just a few pounds over perfect Bill Parcells linebacker range.
Am I saying he could definitely play OLB in a 3-4 after having played eight seasons in a 4-3? No. But he's only 30 and has a lot of talent. The kid could probably pick up our system after a year, and would certainly be worth at least LOOKING at considering our lack of talent or depth at the position.
An NFC high-up said of the move: "Good. He was one of their better defensive players."
If you want the direct link, I don't have it, but remember reading it when I first saw the news break. The very first comment in this link to Windy City Gridiron has the exact quote.
