On June 1st we can get OJ Atogwe without threat of the Rams matching
PFT covered it during the Free Agent bonanza that wasn't Friday, kind of got lost in the shuffle.
Basically the gist of it is since the Rams franchised him last year and now tendered him at the lowest level they're forced to pay him 7 million come June 1st. The article explains but I doubt that Atogwe will risk the Rams matching an offer now if he can wait until June 1st and sign with someone without the risk of getting stuck in St. Louis.

I would hate to see us hold out until June to fill are FS spot especially a guy coming off surgery. MY money is on us drafting a quality FS on hopes of starting him day one. I know the draft isn’t that deep at FS only berry and thomas, but I wouldn’t be upset if they took the florida kid major in the 2nd

Im "Calling" it now
Robert Johnson will beast in for us if drafted, he played with Sean Smith in Utah and was a big reason they beat Alabama in the sugar bowl, Draft him in the 4th.

You're "Calling" it NOW?
You and I have been “Calling” it for weeks already. Too bad more don’t listen. The trifecta has their list and I’m betting Nate Allen and Robert Johnson have highlights on their names. All depends on what pick each can last until.

Lowest Tender
O.J. Atogwe was franchised last year. The Rams are looking to try and pull a fast one by not paying this guy. Before his RFA tender was made known everyone expected that he would be Tendered at a 1st and a 3rd. Just put a clause in his contract that says if he plays more than 4 games in St. Louis in any given year he receives the highest salary of any player on the roster. I think Ryan Tucker of SI talked about this in a article he wrote.
Good thinking....
Now forward that onto Parcells & CO lol – I just hope the Jets don’t load up on more secondary help…

You give too much credit to Cromratie...
… and the Jets staff (infection).
You really think the Chargers let a talent go, like if it was Palumalu the Steelers would let go?
Not.
The Dolphins’ two corners will be better than him next year..!

That's cause no one throws over there
Seriously, if the QBs would just put their passes in the appropriate placement, Revis would get mauled. It’s almost like they are psychologically scared of him. Refer back to the 2nd cincy game, when Revis picked Palmer, he threw the ball 3ft behind Ocho, who had already burnt Revis. Look at half of Manning’s throws during the Championship— completely off target when his receiver won the match up. Its frustrating.

He has a big advantage over alot of recievers though
I classify receivers in to mostly 3 archetypes: Hands, Speed, and Vert. Hands are the most common (Aka Moss), and with Revis’ positioning skills he’ll easily school them. Verts, who are pretty rare (aka Fitz) would slaughter him with their height/leaping abilities. Speed, who are even rarer (aka Ginn when he decides he wants to catch the ball) are effective, but only if they are particularly fast. Which is why I think Ginn is one of the best receivers you could possibly put on Revis.

I get the feeling you won't see anyone using it ever again
It seems like the NFL colluded in some way after that went down with Minny and Seattle. Don’t forget that after the Hutch deal that Seattle did the same to Minny with Burleson.
It didn’t seem like healthy business at the time and I’m sure at some owners only meeting 32 old men got together and agreed to avoid using it until they could get it into the rules.
Go get Suh if at all possible.

Thats exactly what is said to have happened. They all have a gentleman's agreement
to not use it any longer. I doubt our owner, being new to the league, want to be the one guy to rock that boat. I also will not be surprised to see it actually placed in the new CBA as far as how teams may acquire free agents.

My point with the post isn't that Miami is going to wait
It’s that Atogwe is going to wait. Well, he’ll wait if he really wants out of St. Louis.
Unless you think he’s getting paid 7 mil guaranteed from someone then he’s going to wait. Worst case is the Rams are paying him big on a one year deal again and the best case is he can sign long term with a team he likes after June 1st without the chance that he gets stuck in St. Louis by them matching the contract.
I’m just putting myself in his shoes and asking myself what I would do. I would wait until June 1st, take the 7 mil for 1 more year with the Rams or hopefully walk away once they don’t want to pay it.
Go get Suh if at all possible.

Isn't he under contract with the Rams on June 1st..?
No team could sign him if he’s under contract, right?

No, but I think that is when he has to sign his tender.
If he doesn’t sign his RFA tender by then he becomes unrestricted and not technically part of the Rams roster. I believethat’s how it works, but I may be wrong on that. Someone let me know if I’m right on this.

Chillin easy on the Draft CJ Spiller SpillWagon skybus. Got the window seat, the minibar, just waiting for the stewardess to bring me a pillow.
June 1 is the point it goes from minimum tender to 110% of his 09 salary which is about 7 mil
Unless someone steps up and offers more then 7 mil guaranteed then he isn’t going to sign until then.
You guys should be wondering why he hasn’t visited with anyone. Take that into consideration and this scenario begins to make sense.
Go get Suh if at all possible.
