The Big Receiver we're looking for?
The Steelers have signed Randle El so its looks like Limas Sweed will be cut.
One teams garbage another's treasure?
Hes been a HUGE bust so far in the NFL but theres still that potential there.
Hes 6-4 220.
Coming out of college he was compared to TO with better character.
Scouting Report from Walters Football Site:
Strengths: A true possession receiver that is going to go over the middle and make all the catches…Is an enormous target with good strength…Has been a very consistent target and is a team leader…A clutch player…Will move the chains…Is a good blocker and displays good technique…Above-average athleticism…Good character.

Any competition in Pre-season for our WR core is good...
I’d say bring him in as our system might work better for him and he might challenge our receivers or maybe he’ll suck lol…

Well if he sucks you cut his ass and in an uncapped year theres no damage. If there
ever was a year to take a chance on a guy this is it.

2 years 7 catches 69 yds
last year only 1 catch for 5 yds
hes also pretty slow and doesnt get much seperation.

depth chart
He was also like the 5th WR on their depth chart
Just like Miles Austin till he got a chance to start due to injury and just blew up from there.

He will most likely come cheap and if he does half of what he did for the Longhorns then he will be our best WR.
Yeah, I doubt that he will be like Austin but hes worth a look if he comes cheap.

I don't feel you can use production at Texas as an accurate gauge
It is arguably the weakest conference defensively and I can’t really remember the last good WR from texas or oklahoma. The verdict is still out on Crabtree but I think he is one of the rare exceptions from the Big-12

also according to the website i used for strengths
Weaknesses: Doesn’t have very good speed…Not a deep threat…Is his production inflated due to Texas’ spread offense?…Route running needs to be a little more polished…Doesn’t get a lot of separation…More of a No. 2 receiver than a No. 1…Very little upside.
funny thing is he also said:
I think he is going to be a very safe pick for some team next season.

Davone T i find this quote interesting
Hes been a HUGE bust so far in the NFL but theres still that potential there.
But we have a guy on the roster who you can make this same case yet you dont and instead you make a case for another teams “bust” in Limas sweed…at the end of the day they both are young and still have potential

But we have a guy on the roster who you can make this same case
Yup and we are seeing what happens to guys like that

Fromthe SNB scouting report
Not extremely quick. Has trouble separating if he doesn’t execute perfect cuts. Isn’t a physical receiver.
So he’s Turner part two

Turner + Sweed = Twin Towers
Limas Sweed ran a 4.43 at the nfl combine, this guy has the speed to get vertical and he’s a huge target, but the question is that if he’s given a chance will he step up and do what he was brought into do, instead of doing what he did in Pittsburgh. If he is brought it can work on technique to get speration, lets look at Bess at the combine he was slow as dirt ran almost a 4.8! and he gets seperation than Rex Ryan on a diet!! I say get sweed he’ll come cheap.

Stretching
even if Turner doesnt develope atleast we’ll have 3 wideouts that can stretch the field Hartline, Sweed and Ginn and the defense will respect that !

now theres just one problem
limas sweed has to be released theres no gauruntee that a such thing would happen

I'd bring him in and take a look
there are no roster restrictions until preseason, so I would sign him, run him around in camp, and take the best that we have. If he’s better than Turner, there’s your decision. If not, cut him, no harm no foul. It’s never a bad thing to bring a guy in to compete, except when he costs a ton. I have a feeling Sweed will come extremely cheap, as in, “we can sign him today and cut him tomorrow and Ross still won’t feel it in his pocket” cheap.

Exactly what I was saying. If hes cheap sign him and let him show if he has anything to offer
in training camp. If not you just cut him and move on.
