Ryan Clark re-signs with Steelers
Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Steelers have re-signed free agent S Ryan Clark.
Smartly, the Steelers didn't stop pursuing Clark after their Monday addition of backup-caliber safety Will Allen. Also smartly on Clark's part, he leveraged Pittsburgh by taking a Monday visit to the Dolphins. Clark turns 31 during the upcoming season and has never been a big-time playmaker, but is a banger in the back end with above-average range. His return is good news for a Steelers secondary that may experience major overhaul at cornerback.
UPDATE:
Steelers re-signed FS Ryan Clark to a four-year, $17 million contract, including $5 million in the first year.

Back to the drawing board
Though I am actually disappointed. I was looking forward to having someone that actually likes to hit (other than Vontae Davis) in our secondary.

lot of talent in the 1st round for safeties
let’s sign a WR now, Bryant or Mason. Or maybe trade for Bowe

Negative on all 3
We’ve had our Bryant discussion (and from all reports up here in Ohio it sounds like Cincinnati has a legit interest in him).
Mason, isn’t the kind of stop gap I want….too old, and Bowe, if we weren’t going to trade for Marshall….I don’t want to trade for Bowe, lesser talent, not nearly as proven, could very well be more of the same for us.
If this post contains no substance, just assume that my answer is Brandon Marshall. Pay the 1st and 3rd, get the proven guy, and don't worry about that position for the next decade.
Im a fan of Bowe... but he comes with big $$
Mason is on the verge of retiring, no?
Bryant can disappear after awhile in the game.. but i do like him, i dont see him in Miami though.
We’ll see…
I wouldnt be suprised if we dont chnge much with our WRs this offseson and for the draft

They say that wont happen anymore. It appears as if the owners have all agreed to not
write contracts that way anymore. Sort of a gentleman’s agreement.

Well thats one of the reasons that the agreement was made.
You dont want to go around the league pissing off other owners or other will become weary of dealing with us in trades in the future. I dont think it makes for good business unless your doing it to the Pats or the Jets.

What about Sharper for a year or two
While we either draft a FS in the later round with hopes of one of the 3 (Culver, Clemons, or the mid to late draft pick) panning out to take over the starting FS spot.
I mean there isn’t a salary cap this year right? You know you get a good coverage guy with Sharper and it won’t kill us to sign him to a one or two year deal.
Of course forget about this if the Tuna is set on Thomas from Texas.
by Vanman_FishFan13 on Mar 9, 2010 8:34 AM EST up reply actions
You still have to sign everyone this year with the idea that the cap will be back in all future league years.

It seemed as though he may have used our visit for leverage...
Smart for him, shitty for us…I liked him a lot
Of course Tom Brady has to marry someone with Giz in her name. How fitting???
Where is Oronde Gadsden when we need him?
I agree seemed
Look at the history of the Steelers letting high quality defensive players walk (Greene, Kirkland, etc) instead of pay more than they were willing to pay. If I was Clark, I would have been really doubting the Steelers willingness to work with me. I think it was smart of Clark and it seems like the Steelers are a bit unsure of their secondary….especially with Palomalu coming off of injury. I think that they wanted to keep Clark without knowing if Troy was going to come back to his old form.
Of course that was just my opinion.

I see three options:
1. Atogwe – poison pill n’ all.
2. E. Berry
3. E. Thomas
After that, we’re fucked.

Agreed, he did separate the 'K' and 'D' with the proper 'E'
as well as making sure that the ‘C’ took place before the ‘K’ – It also checks out in the Urban Dictionary –

Only one of your options seem legit
That would be number 3
No one uses the poison pill (ok, not no one, but VERY FEW). Berry won’t be available at 12 and I can promise you that we won’t trade up to get him.
There is at least one other option…..Sharper

Is a new FS really needed.
How about Culver to SS. Bell and Clemons to FS.
Culver probably isn’t a better SS than Bell but Bell could easily play FS.
It's what you learn after you know it all that counts. ~ John Wooden
Ya gotta be a little lucky. Ya gotta be a little good. Those kind of things. ~ Coach Sparano.
Bell could not play FS, plus he is too helpful in run defense at his current position
And Culver a FS isn’t half bad
Ronnie Brown is the man
agreed about Bell
Culver is okay, but a tad too slow. Clemons will be the man at FS

if we dont get anyone then i get culver/clemons combo isnt too bad
or a good draft pick.
Im tryin to right my wrongs, but its funny how these same wrongs helped me write this song. - Mr. West
Go with Clemons
and draft Major Wright. Let them compete for the starting job.
