Phin Snap: Brodney Pool (FS)

I have contributed several fanposts to the community and thought "Phin Snap" could be a "snapshot" that's quick and easy.  Maybe it works and maybe it doesn't, but I thought it'd at least stand out enough to make a point on players that are flying under the radar.

Phin Snap: Brodney Pool (FS)

On NFL.com they were going over several free agents and this player, Brodney Pool, came across as a curious option for the Dolphins depth.

The Main aspects that stood out were:

1.) He is an RFA but has no tag designated on him so he's free to pick up.

2.)  His Age, he's 25 has many years left to play that position.

3.) He has gotten better "Stat-wise" every season - See Brodney Pool's Stats

4.) Last season he had 11 passes defended and 4 INT & averages 50-60 tackles per season and could provide some depth since we cut Gibril Wilson.

Star-divide

Phin Snap Wrap:

In closing I like the fact that he's a young guy but is showing an increase in stats year to year.  He could provide some depth and might have a chance to shine because the Dolphins are the type of organization that will give every player a chance.  Also given that Mike Nolan now runs the D, he might have some skills that Nolan likes.

Finally I leave you with the only play that I could find on the internet of him:

Brodney Pool Picks Off Kyle Boller 100 Yards Return Vs Ravens 2007 (via ClevelandBrowns2009)

*UPDATE*

It seems like Brodney has concussion issues which is a shame considering he's only 25 and players like Shannon Sharp are in their 30's and still in the league.  Maybe he can turn things around???? Maybe he's still an option...

*UPDATE*

It looks like the JETS listened to my advice and decided to pickup Brodney Pool.  I hope I wasn't right in his abilities because the last thing I want to see if Brodney Pool picking off Henne and returning it for TD.  Good to see our opponents bringing in players to shore up their teams, looks like we will have to keep our fingers crossed for a "A+ draft grade" or we will be doomed to repeat ourselves this next year.

wow do your homework before you post this

brodney pool is a saftey so we dont need his depth to make up for nate jones, secondly we let nate jones go i belive the fo likes jason allens corner depth, and last but no least clevland let him go because hes had about 4 concussions and has missed alot of time due to that

Nice post Deuce - No need to be a downer, just be an informer....

What I wanted to present was a player and I’m glad you are able to provide info that he is “injury prone” etc. I simply ran across the name and looked at his stats etc and thought he could provide some depth at the Safety position.

All good; good info though....

It’s a shame he has concussion issues as he’s young (25) and should have 10 more years left…

Nate Jones was a nickel/dime DB(which he wasnt anymore with Allen back)

mentioning depth without him means a DB that could play some dime(Will Allen is 3rd CB) whether he is any good in coverage I dont know but calling him out for it: brodney pool is a saftey so we dont need his depth to make up for nate jones::: is the stupid statement of the two becauase a saftey can certainily be a dime back which was your STUPID reasoning for calling him out…

Duece I realize you’re a child but take the meds mom gave you and calm down

Injury prone

I think he has had 4 concussions in 5 years or 5 in 4 years. Wouldn’t touch him.

thats what i was sayin

yes, the concussions are a problem

it would be safe to say that he is one more away from ending his career.

That being said, he would probably come cheap, and he could provide a some depth as we try to develop Clemmons.

It could be good enough to get us through the season without having to draft to the position this year.

If we can’t get Atogwe, I think Pool is a good backup plan.

the guy is good

it just that one more big hit and he is out of the league.

if you sign him to an incentive based contract, it’d be a minimal risk proposition.

BLAMO!! I changed it to "cut Gibril Wilson" for ya!

Agreed, it sounds like he could be a cheap pickup and he may have “something to prove” or maybe he sucks. I wasn’t a big fan of Gibril but he did have a lot of tackles and sadly couldn’t catch a ball that my momma could have caught.

by Phin-Phan-Phorever on Mar 8, 2010 9:08 PM EST up reply actions

no, he doesn't suck.

i agree with your stats, the kid keeps improving year-to-year, but has missed a lot of games because of the concussions. And I am pretty sure #5 pretty much puts you medically out of the league nowadays.
