Mock Draft 2.0

Whats going on everyone,

Ive spent a good part of the last few days going over different mocks around the net, reading scouting reports on a lot of players and trying to find videos on some of them. After all of this, Im gonna update my mock draft. Anyone who remembers even one post of mine knows Im in favor of trading down. Here, I got us trading the 12th to Philly for their 1st and 2nd (24 & 55). If you look at their roster, they have only 3 LBs right now and a couple more that are RFAs. This would be a good spot for them to pick one up. I also think with the re-signing of CP10 that Thigpen is on the market. I got us trading him to Buffalo for their 4th. They have nothing at QB and will probably draft one this year but theyre going to need someone solid at least for now. We might be able to get a 3rd but I think a 4th is more realistic. I would love for someone to take Ronnie or Fasano from us but I doubt itll happen. So in my mock we have 11 picks not counting a compensatory pick we might get.

Star-divide

Round 1 (from Phi) - Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri

I really like this guy. I think he is the most NFL ready LB in this draft and that he would be great on our strong side with JT and Wake on the weak side.

Round 2 - Cam Thomas, NT, UNC

Although he may not be as complete as Dan Williams, I think hes still a good player that can contribute right away and grow into a stud for us.

Round 2 (from Phi) - Morgan Burnett, FS, Georgia Tech

Hed be a good pick up in the 2nd and will add another young, talented player to the safety position. Good tackler and great ball hawk

Round 3 - Montario Hardesty, RB, Tenn

Good solid runner whose stock is on the rise. Weighs 225Lbs and can run between the tackles but has enough speed to bounce it outside.

Round 4 (from Buffalo) - Dennis Pitta, TE, BYU

A great receiving TE with good blocking skills. An instant upgrade at a position where we need one.  Might not be available in the 4th but with other TEs stock rising its possible.

Round 4 - Danario Alexander, WR, Missouri

Has an extensive injury history but when healthy is absolutely scary. 6'5'', 215Lbs, runs around a 4.5 with a 40 something inch vert. I cant copy & paste on my phone so cant link videos. Check him out out on youtube. There are two good videos, one is a local news story on him where you get to see his personality and what his teammates think of him. There is also a good highlight reel. Being that hes injured AGAIN his stock is obviously falling. He might be a reach in the 4th but dont think he'll last to the 6th. If he can stay healthy, this kid is gonna be a star.

Round 6 (from KC) - Al Woods, DT, Tenn

Although a 4-3 DT, he has great size at 6'4'', 317Lbs. Was mostly a backup in college but that was on a very talented Tennesee D-Line.

Round 6 (from Was) - Chris Hall, C, Texas

A very underrated player from Texas. Could be a solid backup in the NFL.

Round 6 - Clifton Geathers, DE, East Carolina

Imposing guy at 6'8'', 281Lbs. Had a solid college career but didnt live up to expectations. Still an interesting late round project.

Round 7 - Dexter Davis, OLB, Arizona St.

Found this guy going through scouting reports. Four year player who was improving every year. Put up 11.5 sacks in his Jr. year against good competition but then struggled his Sr. year, totaling only 3.5 sacks. Im sure there are many other choices at LB at this point. This is just a guy that jumped out at me. Good size too,  6'4'', 255Lbs I think.

Round 7 - Jacob Hickman, C/G, Nebraska

Solid, versatile player that spent time at both positons

i love the first two picks, i feel we should get Brandon lafell where Morgan Brunnet is and Lagerrate Blount where Alexander is. And draft Robert Johnson in the 4th.

I would love Graham in a Phins uniform but

I dont think the FO is gonna spend a 3rd on a guy who cant block and who only played football for one year, regardless of potential. I also love Johnson in the 4th. If we end up signing Clark, I dont think we touch FS in the first three rounds and he becomes a real possibility. If not, I think Burnett is less of a project and is closer to being game-ready come September.

Cmon now..

no trades in mocks!

Plus, I would rather take Dan Williams with the 1st round pick from where you traded down too, and go OLB in the 2nd, maybe Jerry Hughes.

Take Myron Rolle in the 3rd, and Graham in the 4th. Draft a running back, like Blount somewhere in the draft, though.

No love for Alexander?

I know its a big if but IF he stays healthy every team that passes on him is gonna seriously regret doing so. Just imagine, Turner steps his game up and Alexander stays healthy. Now we got two 6’5’’ targets with great hands running around the field for Henne. Dont forget, he was always meant to be the #1 at Mizzou, even when Maclin was there but the injuries stopped him. With anywhere between 9 and 12 picks this year, I think we could take a chance on him.

I like Alexander a lot

it’s just concerns about him staying healthy, like you said. He also is a bit of a project because he didn’t run a whole lot of different routes or learn many NFL skills at Mizzou thanks to that spread offense. But the learning curve for a Spread WR is much shorter than for a Spread QB, so it shouldn’t take more than a year to get him up to speed.
