Yet another Offseason thread now that Dansby is signed

Ok well the Dolphins made may Birthday special by signing Karlos Dansby (my b-day was 3-4) so now lets see what they will do to make this team an instant competitor...

Draft:

Round 1 - Miami Selects: Earl Thomas, FS Texas

Earl Thomas is a 5'10 ball hawking FS out of Texas. He might be small but has the instincts, speed, and strength to pay at the next level.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRrjr5HG_ck&feature=related

Round 2 - Cam Thomas NT UNC

Jason Ferguson is gone... out of the picture completely. Cam Thomas had a very nice college career at UNC and will upgrade our defense immediately!

Round 3- Jimmy Graham TE Miami

Jimmy is a fan favorite and wont disappoint! Has size, speed, and will understand the playbook quickly due to his love for the game and intelligence.

Round 4 - Riley Cooper WR Florida

This guy can play. He roomed with Tebow at Florida and was never really oustanding but he has speed (4.51) and size (6'3 222lbs) I being a gator fan have watched him closely and this guy will be great at the next level!

Round 5- Legarrette Blount RB Oregon

Great strength (reminds me ALOT of Ronnie) should be a 1st round pick if not for his suspension which was stupid... so he got in a fight... if it was not on national TV... he would have gotten a slap on the hand but since it was televised, it was like Peer pressure and they gave him a year off (hell thats great fort us though! AMAZING VALUE in the 5th!!)

why dont we have a 5th?

I think we traded it for Thigpen, but we got one back from KC for Allerman and Dookie.

LOL Blount was completely out of control, he also tried to go after some guy in the stands.

He had other problems too. He’s a “no” for the Dolphins. He’s Raider all the way.

Love Thomas at #12

I rate him just as high as E. Berry.

[Dansby was a Bday present for me as well (3-6)]

My issue with the draft is the neglect for the OLB. It’s as deep as any position – going three to four rounds with potential studs. I’m in favor of using two picks to cement SOLB and WOLB for years to come. Largely because it’s as important as any position in the 3-4.

But, I couldn’t be too upset with a draft that gives us ET and Cam Thomas.

I do realize OLB is a major need, but

I just think that NT is now a HUGE need for us and I would not mind doing something like

1. Dan Williams
2. Jerry Hughes
3. Chad Jones

That would be amazing but I really like Graham and couldnt pass him up in round 3… but I would not mind having Williams, Hughes, and Jones strengthen our Defense for Years to come!

I like Graham’s potential, but I don’t think you can spend a 3rd on a player who can easily fade out of the league in two or three years, when we have more glaring needs and when there will be better players available. Pitta’s the best TE in the draft, and he could be there in the 4th.

But, NT’s are space eaters. You need dynamic players at OLB. You can find a big body in the later rounds if you need.

I will say, though, that I think the FO will add a FS or NT before the draft. Otherwise, we’re looking at too many holes to effectively fill on the D.

Then they can defense the rest of the draft

Why would we take Cooper?

In my opinion, he is no more than a #2 WR, which is all we pretty much have. Dont know about you guys, but if we dont get Bryant, Benn, or Thomas, I really dont want to see us waste a pick on a WR.

Blount won't get to round five

there’s even talk of teams reaching into late-2s for him. Teams (including the Dolphins) interviewed him, and they all have nothing but great things to say about him. Plus with his nice combine, he jumped up. People (especially footballers) get into fights all the time, the boise guy was egging him on, and the excessive penalty made him wake up.
