Why not Ryan Clark? Instead of Rolle....
I keep seeing flashes of a player whose hard hitting and has a nose for the ball (remember that INT from Clark in the endzone to end our comeback against the Steelers?).
Ryan Clark isn't afraid of contact and seems like a better fit even though Rolle may seem like the better safety option.
Check this out!
What I like in Clark is that he's a hard hitting Safety and is 30, giving him up to 4 or so year left of service (like Sharper) and could tutor a guy like Earl Thomas / Eric Berry (if we were lucky) or even a super smart guy like Myron Rolle (FSU Rhodes Scholar).
I think a hard hitting guy like Ryan Clark would fit our new D-Coordinator's mindset than a guy coming from a past first team like the Cardinals that allowed lots of yardage on them and only won by outscoring opponents on offense.
I leave you with this! Imagine this a couple times a year :)
and this :)

If the price is right
but I think I’d rather just go with Clemons, Culver and a pick.

I'd like Clark, Clemons or Culver, and Robert Johnson (Utah)
He might not be cheap, he might not be reasonably priced, he might be costly, but he won’t cost $8 million/year. Offer him a 4 year, $15 million deal with a $2.5 million signing bonus and throw in a few performance incentives (I want some INTs, dammit) to bring the contract up to a $20 million value. He only made $2.4 million last year (AFAIK) but he wants to play in Pittsburgh with Polamalu. If we have to go and higher than $4 million before bonuses and guaranteed money, he won’t be worth it but he would still be better bang for the buck than Rolle.

Actually
Salguero is reporting
the Dolphins have been talking about Pittsburgh unrestricted free agent Ryan Clark.

He cant play in Denver due to sickle cell anemia.
OH NO
KYLE ORTON LIGHTING UP OUR DEFENSE! That’s nightmare-worthy.
Haha I’m not too concerned about that. I’d be for signing Ryan Clark, as long as we don’t break the bank for him. I think he’s a solid guy, but not a game-changer.
It's 2010 - do the smart thing. Draft Myron Rolle.
Well that'll be a problem
Since we play in Denver ONCE every 8 years (Barring Playoffs). The 2012 season should see us playing the AFC and NFC West teams but we played Denver at Mile High in 2008 so the next time we should be here.
Even if we have to travel for that game, you are talking about 1 game in the next 5 seasons unless we play the Broncos in the playoffs and those odds are real slim right now since A.) We’d have to make the playoffs as a wild card unless the Broncos are seed 1 or 2, B.) Denver doesn’t look like they are going to win their division anytime soon, and C.)even if A, and B are eliminated there is a 10% to (at best) a 50% (We’re WC and they are AFC West Champ) we would play in Denver. If we were the #4 seed and Denver was the #3 seed there would only be a 12.5% chance we play Denver in the AFC Championship.
I’ll play those odds. Of note, the AFC West champ has only hosted the AFC East champ three times since the divisions were realigned (2002-03 NYJ @ OAK, 2005-06 NE @ DEN & 2006-07 NE @ SD). That’s 3/8 or 37.5% of the time did the AFC East champ play out west and only once or 12.5% of the time did the AFC East champ play in Denver.

Okay, so when we play Denver
We can let Chris Clemons light up their team. Clark would be a great signing and I believe would have a much more positive impact on our team than Rolle or Wilson. He is a fast, hard hitting FS who has played on a truly great defense. If I had a choice between the two, i would give Clark the big bucks before Rolle.
I'm sure they are talking to his agents now...
I know the popular opinion is Rolle but I suspect the FO has other options in mind. They can’t put all their chips on Antrel and Clark could be a better value.
my opinion is
We sign eithe rone, but my preference is Rolle
But for the money, if we can say a bunch by signing Clark than I am good with that..
I think karlos Dansby should be our guy for ILB. He is going to require probably 5-6 year 30 mil
I also think we should get Boldin, give Arizona our 3rd and sign him to a 4-5 year 20-30 mil (probably more like 23)
Doing so would help our offense get over the hump a bit, and ignite our defense
And if we draft Graham or Hernandez we would be set (or trade for Greg Olsen)
You won't get Dansby for $30 Million over 5 years
He wants Bart Scott money and while he isn’t worthy of it someone (Dan Snyder) will throw that kind of money his way even if they have to pay him $20 million guaranteed. We, however, will not. Hopefully we can land a big name guy for no more than $5-8 million guaranteed money and less than $4.5 million a year.

Even more reason
I think he would be a good adition, but I am partial to Rolle. But if it doesnt make dollars it doesnt make sense. The FO is smart. They will want to maximize their budget. If they cant get Rolle for the right price (regardlss of being uncapped), then they will get Clark I would hope.
My wish list has Rolle, Dansby, Boldin on it.
Wilfork is not happening, so drafting a NT would be a good move.
But Clark wouldnt be bad, its the fact that he is 30 may put a damper on it. But who knows.
The guy knows how to play a similar D, why not.
