Dez Bryant - This kid makes all the right decisions...
Dez Bryant isn't exactly winning character points in the run up to the NFL Draft. Most recently, Bryant attended a workout held by former NFL player and notable foe of the Commissioner's office, Adam "Pacman" Jones. With all of the questions swirling about his own character, this latest move leads to another: What is Dez Bryant thinking?
Are there still people on this Bandwagon?
Really? If so, I'd like you to break down for me exactly how this elite talent, who hasn't played football in over a year (Mike Williams style) would be worth a first round pick.
I'd also like to hear your debate, and please make an intelligent debate, on how Dez Bryant has more value than a Brandon Marshall.
Lets not make this a Brandon Marshall Post....instead, this is an anti-Dez post.
But, I know he still has supporters (who haven't seen him play in over a year), so I'd like to hear your reasonings.

pacman was actually a good defensive back in this league before he got in trouble. he probably has a few things he could let dez know before entering the nfl. a few tips and pointers and what not. plus pacman is trying to get back in the league once again so you know he is 1) working out hard to be in great shape. and 2) telling dez to not do the shit that he did so he can stay in the nfl and be a premier player for years. idk but with this argument that might just insure my place on his bandwagon.

Yeah
I don’t think there is anything wrong with Dez’s character but he is way overly hyped up. Why is he considered to be the first reciever taken in the draft? Personally I don’t get it and I think there is way more better talent than Dez.
Mmmmm no not really....
Yes there seems to be some decent talent at the WR position in the draft, not really superstar caliber, starter capability. However Dez Bryant IS the most talented WR in the draft. I for one have a problem with his character especially since he didn’t even show up for his own school’s pro day! I mean what is that about??? He doesn’t go to his school’s but he goes to pacman’s? This guy’s got some off-field issues, possibly worse than Marshall’s. Especially considering the fact that he’s not even in the league yet and he’s acting like a punk.
I dont think they let him go
The issue was he wanted to reschedule so he could impress scouts more, but the school said no. So he had to do it in Texas, close to Texas’s pro day
Apparently, they train at the same facility.

So what, he attended a workout? And it’s been 5 months since he’s played, not over a year. I’d rather have Marshall since he is proven, but there is no denying that Dez is a great talent and well worth the #12 pick.

I don't understand where all these Dez haters are coming from.
The only thing he’s done wrong was that one lie, but that’s all right? He’s been considered by far the best WR in this class for over a year and a lot of people are saying he’s the best WR in the draft since Calvin Johnson.
You got me, lol
Well a lot of fans/bloggers have said so. But I don’t recall any “experts” or analysts stating that. Regardless, a number of analysts do think that Dez is a top talent.
i don't even care about the lie, or the suspension from it.
all i care about are the scouting reports that say he is unfocused and unmotivated.
-LCFF
by LeftCoastFinFan on Mar 21, 2010 11:42 AM EDT up reply actions
Do you have a link to any of those scouting reports?
I haven’t come across anything that has made me really think that Dez is unfocused. But if he is, then yes that’s a big red flag.
i don't
but i have this link to a J. Cole story citing sources, and Cole is usually pretty accurate.

Thanks
But seeing as there is so much misinformation out there, this may or may not be true. If it is true then I would pass on Dez. But I’m sure teams who are interested in Dez will do their homework to find out the truth. If the front office finds nothing wrong, then I think he would be a great pick.
too risky
he might have a great future, and he might be getting a bad rap… but we can’t afford to miss on a 1st round draft pick. Maybe if we had all the pieces in place you could take that chance, but we aren’t there yet.
-LCFF
by LeftCoastFinFan on Mar 20, 2010 10:36 PM EDT reply actions
But you won't win the Super Bowl without taking a few risks!
I understand what you’re saying though, and Dez sure isn’t the safest pick. It really all depends on how much the front office likes whoever else is left by the time they pick.
so take the risk when you can better afford it.
-LCFF
by LeftCoastFinFan on Mar 21, 2010 12:06 AM EDT up reply actions
But my point is that it is not much of a risk
if they don’t like anyone else that’s available at #12. If they do like some other guys a lot that are projected to be drafted in the first round, then it is a big risk.
For instance
I could see them not be too impressed with Dan Williams or Earl Thomas and thinking they could get a good NT and FS later in the draft (as well as other positions). But they might think that Dez is THE guy. Of course I wouldn’t bet my money on this being the case, but it’s possible.
then take spiller.
if that were to happen, and CJ was still on the board, take him. lower bust rate.
But I don’t see how an elite player at one of our defensive positions of need is not there @ 12.
-LCFF
by LeftCoastFinFan on Mar 21, 2010 11:49 AM EDT up reply actions
I love Spiller
But a #1 WR is a bigger need and I think it’s easier to find a #1 RB later in the draft then it is to find a #1 WR. There may be some elite players available, but they might not fit our team as well. For instance, Graham is a great player, but he’s more of a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB. And the players that do seem to fit well, like Kindle or Thomas or Willimas, may have other concerns (e.g. talent, character for Kindle, size for Thomas, etc)
so pick a different WR.
there are 3 or 4 that could be #1 WRs in this draft.
-LCFF
by LeftCoastFinFan on Mar 21, 2010 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions
I think Dez is far better than any of the other receivers in this draft
On the other hand, I think there is less of a difference among the top safeties and OLBs since those positions are so deep this year. That’s why I think there’s more value in getting Dez.
they only thing i disagree with is that @ #12
you can still get a FS or OLB that is ProBowl quality. After the first 15, maybe 20 picks, i think you are correct, that the margin of difference in talent gets minimal.
-LCFF
by LeftCoastFinFan on Mar 22, 2010 11:58 AM EDT up reply actions
Actually I think CJ will be another Sproles and we really don't need a supplemental guy
If we draft a RB I’d rather us get a guy that can take over Williams role and eventually Brown’s role. (with Brown being the change of pace, of course as Brown ages and can’t handle a full 16 game as the lead back.)
The only wisdom is the knowledge that you don't know.
And, as always, screw the JETS!!!!!!!! Here Comes Dr. Tran!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO0kRE5OTZI&feature=PlayList&p=A33989B65116A425&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL
no, you misunderstand.
this draft is so deep as so many positions, that we can fill two holes on the team with solid starters; possibly pro bowl talent for years to come with our first two draft picks.
WR has a much higher bust rate than most positions, and we have more holes than just WR. So filling two of these spots – FS/NT/OLB/RB – with elite players gets us farther ahead in rebuilding than possibly missing on a WR in the first round.
And if we WERE going to take a WR, I am more in line with Fr8 about trading for a known commodity, rather than drafting to it. I think we draft Defense and grab a WR later.
-LCFF
by LeftCoastFinFan on Mar 21, 2010 11:48 AM EDT up reply actions
I agree with everything
Like I said, Dez is not the safest pick and there is some risk. The players that are available and the front office’s draft board will determine how much of a risk.

If you are willing to take the risk on Bryant
You have to be willing to take the risk on Marshall….its pretty much the same risk, with the exception that one player is a proven talent.
If this post contains no substance, just assume that my answer is Brandon Marshall. Pay the 1st and 3rd, get the proven guy, and don't worry about that position for the next decade.
No it's not the same risk.
Marshall is a proven headcase, as well as a proven talent. We don’t know the truth about Dez yet. But I would certainly take the risk and trade for Marshall. I never said I wouldn’t.
