Mock Draft 3.0

Whats up everyone,

Im back with another one. As much as I would like a NT taken in the first two rounds, Im starting to believe its less and less likely to happen so the first half of the picks have changed accordingly. The second half hasnt changed much but with the Incognito signing our O-Line depth is better so I changed one pick in the late rounds.

Selections after the jump

Star-divide

1 - Earl Thomas, FS, Texas

Im sure just about everybody here knows why he'd be a great pick at 12.

2 - Jerry Hughes, OLB, TCU

Already a stud rushing the passer, if he can improve against the run he can be a force on either side of the defense.

3 - A.J. Edds, OLB, Iowa

He might be the best pure SOLB in the draft. Great tackler and size. Good player that makes very few mistakes.

4 - Jay Ross, DT, ECU

Not my first choice but he might be the best available at this point. If Troup or Joseph are there Id prefer them. That being said, Ross has good size and strength and could make a good NT.

6(1) - Al Woods, DT, LSU

Mostly played as a backup on a very talented      D-Line. Like Ross, he has good size and strength and could be successful on the next level.

6(2) - Clifton Geathers, DE, ECU

Big and talented DE that never really lived up to expectations. Would be a great fit in a 3-4.

6(3) - Chris Hall, C, Texas

Good player who could be a solid backup in the NFL, maybe more.

7(1) - Dexter Davis, OLB, Arizona State

This would be a good spot to add depth at ILB too but i couldnt find any late round prospects that jumped out at me. Im sure theres a few though.

7(2) - Jeff Cottam, TE, Tenn

I dont think we can find a viable receiving threat this late so we might as well pick up a GREAT blocker that can help in pass protection and the run game for years to come.

**********

I know its very heavy on the defense but a solid D could of easily won us 3 or 4 (maybe more) games  last season and put us in the Playoffs. Either way, 2009 wasnt the year we were gonna win a SB and realistically either is 2010. I say we fix our D (which needs a lot of fixing) now and try to get a couple playmakers on offense next year thatll hopefully put us in a position to compete for a championship. If we get some extra picks this year through trades or Comp. I would not hesitate to use them on offense.

Let me know what you think.

replace Ross with Jeff Owens of Georgia in the 4th and you're pretty set

I’m curious about this Iowa linebacker. The biggest goal for Miami is to find a pro bowl stud in the first round. Whoever is available that they think will fit that mold, that is how they should go. This is a roster void of playmakers. They need to add one in the first. Earl Thomas would fit that mold.

i can see the tuna having a draft like this

stock piling on positions in need on the defense. however our offense will be very average at best
