Miami Herald's "exploring options at guard, tight end"

Just thought I'd share these article cuttings posted by the Miami Herald's Sports Buzz this past Sunday.

"Sporting News analyst and former Browns scout Russ Lande said the players who most display the skills Miami is seeking (downfield receiving skills, good size, skill to develop into solid blockers) are Arizona's Rob Gronkowski, Southern California's Anthony McCoy, UM's Jimmy Graham and Penn State's Andrew Quarless.

The Dolphins also like Oklahoma's Jermaine Gresham, who showed he's over the knee injury that sidelined him in 2009 and likely is to be taken between Miami's picks at Nos. 12 and 43. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has Gresham as the only first-round tight end (25th overall), but UF's Aaron Hernandez and Gronkowski could go soon after.

Miami has shown an interest in McCoy and Graham, who has met with the Dolphins' Jeff Ireland and could go between the second and fifth rounds, analysts said. Quarless, who interviewed with Miami, could be a third- or fourth-rounder, Lande said.

Iowa's Tony Moeaki, Pittsburgh's Dorin Dickerson, BYU's Dennis Pitta, Oregon's Ed Dickson and Wisconsin's Garrett Graham have appealing pass-catching skills, but their blocking needs work (as does Jimmy Graham's). Dickerson is undersized at 6-2, 226 pounds."

Gresham would be a great pick if he fell to the second round

Unlikely but the draft is unpredictable as we all know, it would be hard to fit in a quality TE in our draft if we we’re to select a OLB, DT, WR, S in the first 4 rounds. Tony Scheffler anyone?

Pitta

If we’re going to draft a TE we should draft a TE that can understand blocking schemes and pass patterns.

He’s the only TE I’ve seen who has great blocking technique, both running and passing and the sharpest route running I’ve seen from a TE coming out of college for some time.

We have too many defensive holes to fill and should use our first three picks to fill them. I really think Pitta could fall for us in our fourth round due to the TE spot looks really “sexy” so he’ll be lossed in the shuffle.

I’m just praying the Patriots don’t get him or our TE problems will continue for another five seasons.

Very agressive

Graham is about 6-foot-8 and 265 pounds, Very agressive about getting the ball…. Former Basket Ball player with MU. I think he was fouled from most of the games for “snatching the ball” LOL….. ended up with 290 fouls total…. and that’s just in B-Ball. LOL. Could be a good pick in a lter round, but I think he’s projected to go in the 3rd.
