Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Possible FS through Trade

The Buffalo Bills very own Donte Whitner is on the trading blocks since Jarius Byrd has done so well filling the FS spot for the Bills.  He isn't bad its just the Bills have a less than average D line so the secondary isn't helped there.

Since we passed on Antrel Rolle and Ryan Clark who both are good respectively but one would have been too much and the other just wanted to stay in Pitt, this seems like a very possible option.

Star-divide

Now there arent many FS on the market worth signing and  Oshiomogho Atogwe (such a cool name to say) seems like a possibility but since no one has pursued him yet, something doesn't seem right on that RFA tender so he MIGHT be rules out, at least til June 1st.

We could still draft a FS but if we take him, we woudn't need to spend a 1st round or even a 2nd on a FS and could use those picks to focus on a SOLB and NT.

Just food for thought.  What do you think?

Yes please get rid of White

But I doubt any team would trade for White. Especially after WE showed the things White CAN NOT do and that is play football at any elite lvl.

He's not mentally ready for it.

He needs a couple of offseasons and/or a mentor. If Nolan could somehow help him break film down, sure. If he can’t learn that, there’s no way he ever starts at a high level for us.

i like clemons

but seeing how we went after starting safeties in the free agency and how were showing interest in just about every free safety in the draft… it looks like clemons isnt who we thought he was.

What about Ted Ginn Jr. and Tyler Thigpen to BUFFALO for Dontae Whitner and Roscoe Parrish?

Buffalo needs a QB and Gailey is familiar with Thigpen.
They are very familiar with what a “Good Ginn” did to them, less familiar with “Bad Ginn”
Roscoe Parrish’s stock is down right now, but might revive his punt returning prowess with a return to familiar and warmer Miami surroundings. Dontae Whitner is insurance in case a free safety just doesn’t fall right to us.
Perhaps we don’t take Earl Thomas in the first pick…or maybe Jacksonville grabs him ahead of us.
Note: Dontae Whitner = 5-10 208 = Earl Thomas

From Buffalo Rumblings analysis of tradeable players:

Donte Whitner – Whitner’s name has surfaced in a rumored trade to the Redskins involving QB Jason Campbell (more on that in a second). Whitner’s disappointing play since being drafted eighth overall in 2006 has made him a favorite whipping boy among Bills fans, but it’s not fans he should be worried about. Whitner was supplanted at FS last year by rookie Jairus Byrd, and RFA George Wilson had a tremendous year at safety as well. UFA Bryan Scott has started for the Bills at SS, too, making Whitner expendable for the right offer.

Trent Edwards and Roscoe Parrish – If the Bills are serious about turning the page on offense, they may want to look at getting whatever value they can for these two disappointing Bills. Both have seen their value drop significantly after being benched during the 2009 season. Both players probably won’t be dealt on their own, but certainly could be involved in trades during the NFL Draft.

Chan Gailey pretty much put the nail in the coffin to trade rumors yesterday. I’m 99% sure Whitner will be a Bill next year. The 1% is if we’re blown away by an offer, and considering y’all are in the division, I doubt you’ll be throwing us a serious haul for Whit.

Brian in da House!

Yeah. I think a lot here figured that. Whitner is too good to let go…

Thanks for a true update.
