Draft to complete.
Personally i think we have two options - complete the secondary or complete the defensive line.
Secondary - Vontae Davis, sean smith, will allen all starting calliber corners; SS YBell number one tackling saftey in the league . What's missing? a gaping whole at FS whether or not culver or clemons can fill the void remains to be seen. If the dolphins have an option in selecting Earl Thomas or Taylor Mays at 12 then that would complete our secondary. (it would consist of 3 first round picks (will allen (believe it or not, 2001 NY giants), vontae davis, and Thomas/mays) and a proven SS) this unit would progress as a whole and be a dominant force.

Defensive line in a 3-4 normally won't rack up the big numbers we like to see, but it's the heart and soul of the Defensive unit. Currently football focus has starks as the 2nd Best DE in a 3-4 Langford is 7 and a number 1 DT to the mix, Dan Williams really being the only option at 12, and the unit not only become complete, but elite.

OLB - is another vital part of the 3-4 it's our pass rush. Currently Cam Wake has upside but as rusher, not sure if he is the complete package. There will be outstanding talent available at 12 spot: Sergio Kindle, Brandon Graham, and Jason Paul-Pierre one of those will fall to use each can have a great impact. But are the dolphins really all that desperate for more sacks? Last year we were the THIRD IN THE LEAGUE LAST YEAR. A whopping 44 sacks; only the vikings (48) and steelers (47) were better.

If Dan Williams is not there at 12 then it becomes a no brainer and we either draft Taylor Mays (Bill Parcells guy ran faster 40 time then Berry and Thomas - "His official 40 time was 4.43 but 6 or 7 scouts had him clocked around the 4.31- 4.35 range", benched more, and 41 inch vertical at 231 pounds.) He needs to shed some weight and he only had 5 ints in 3 years i believe but he is very, very talented. Thomas would be the safer pick as a proven ball hawk though 8 int's in 2009.

If we do go with Thomas at 12, then we can only hope that either Cody falls to us in the 2nd or Cam Thomas falls to us in the 3rd, going for Cam Thomas in the 2nd would be a reach. The pick would be better spent on OLB if Cody is not available.
My links are evidence for all the claims made.

If we get Thomas in the 1st
There are still guys out there. We can get quality players throughout the draft LB is pretty deep, as is WR and dare I say it D-Line. I’m not sold on Dan Williams. It scares me to draft a guy in the first rd that only had one standout season. I’ve been watchin’ a good amount of youtube and there are a good amount of plays that he simply gets pushed back. If you want a real force in the 3-4 IMO it’s best to go big & stout and no one fit that bill like Mt. Cody. Brandon Grahm is the best I’ve seen as far as OLB prospects so far, and Earl Thomas is just as good as Berry IMO. In short, this year’s draft is one of the most talented overall in years and the FO will be licking their chops at the possibilities. ;)
Thomas
I think that Draft Earl Thomas makes the most sense a lot less bust possibility. I’ve been watching a lot of videos on him and he just looks great if we get him i’d be pretty happy and just hope that Cody falls to us. But in order for Mt. Cody to fall to us he needs to get past the Bills that just finished switching to a 3-4, browns, and chiefs.
ps did some more research on Taylor Mays, not a big fan, some say if he bulks up he could play OLB and that he is a head hunter rather than a bawl hawk. We already have our tackling big safety in Y Bell, Earl Thomas would be the balancing force.
Bell really isn't a big hitter, he is more of
a perfect form tackler. I’ve never see someone break his tackle.
The only wisdom is the knowledge that you don't know.
On the Draft Hernandez in 2nd Bandwagon.
Now lets go get OJ Atogwe.
The only thing you know about me is.. THATS ALL YOUR EVER KNOW!!
And, as always, screw the JETS!!!!!!!!
totally agree
I can’t really recall Bell ever laying some one out. But you said it perfectly he won’t miss a tackle and is great for run support; also had 3 picks and 1.5 sacks he can make plays. I remember back in 06 when he wasn’t starting but played special teams and i thought he was great. I used to think that he should play saftey and he did. I would love to see Earl Thomas back there because of how much of a ball hawk he is and how well him and bell would complement each other.
But it wouldn’t be the end of the world if we got Jason Paul-Pierre (If we take a OLB i only hope it’s this guy, it’s a gamble, but has the most upside) or Dan Williams. And then in the 2nd go for a Nate Allen out of USF – has the intangibles smart , 9 career picks, and played and started 39 games.
think all the senerios sound great, but.
dont think we need a first rd. FS. we need a good FA to learn clemons how to play the position. there r a few to b had. dont need a first rd. NT. i think solia did a decent job considering he started for only a half a season. pick one up in the later rd.thomas, troup, joseph, to chellenge solia. cant count on fergie should b a good teacher for them though. i like the pick up of dansby but we need more help at LB and lots of it. no reason why we cant come out of this draft with at least 2 more quality LB. thats def. we really need a great cathing TE to give our WR any chance of doing better. and then bring in a big deep threat WR to open up the offense and let henne tp air it out. we have to fill all of these needs if we want to get better and compete.
no mays in the first round
good post tho. I say we get earl thomas if hes there if we don’t get atogwe in free agency. if we do get atogwe then we draft a pass rusher or receiver. i just think there are some underated nose tackles we can get in the later rounds like torell troup or cam thomas
ALRITE MIAMI!!!!
draft jimmy graham
on the "MT Cody Madden Bus" (second round, hopely)
DEZ DEZ DEZ DEZ DEZ
if we get dez, im pretty sure henne won't be a robot anymore
slowing hopping aboard the go get OJ atogwe bandwagon
I feel you guys
Just watch videos on Earl Thomas, it’s almost as exciting as watching CJ Spiller. But it’s the more likely pick. The only wide receiver I’d take in the 2nd round is Brandon LaFell or Arrelious Benn. But honestly i think we have a pretty solid receiving core – i don’t know about you but I’m very excited about Brian Hartline 3 td receptions and 1 rushing td on a reverse. But currently we have more pressing needs on defense. I have been reading on Taylor Mays and am officially turned off, lol.
Dream
1st FS Earl Thomas
2nd Cody/Arrelious Benn if available, if not get a solid OLB (Ricky Sapp)
3rd If we didn’t get a NT in the 2nd go NT here and hope that Cam Thomas is still here, if we did go NT then get OLB, don’t spend another pick in the 3rd on receiver (rather let Patrick Turner develop)
Sean Weatherspoon will be awesome in the first
with Lafell in the second, Cam Thomas or Troup in the third and Robert Johnson in the 4th.
