Brandon Marshall

I just read a great article from the Palm Beach Post about why Zach Thomas thinks  we should go after Marshall. I wasn't a fan of going after Marshall before reading this article. But if Zach is right, I'm all for it.  But, Zach thinks we should trade this years #1 pick for a proven player. I say we need a NT BADLY!   and I would love to see Dan Williams as our #1 pick. So, I say trade next years number pick  for Marshall (and maybe someone else, like a TE, Turner, or a late round pick). That way we have a proven #1 WR. We'll get our NT in the draft. Then we'll have the rest of the draft to look for our free safety. Maybe get one in the second round. Therefore, our teams top three needs for this year are met. I know i might get jumped on for trade away pics, but this scenario looks awesome to me. As Zach implied, as long as we keep Brandon Happy it will be worth it.

Marshal w/ our 12 pick

He is a proven stud WR and he is still young. Get a NT in the 2nd rd. I’m all for getting Marshal not matter what, as long as it involves just one pick.

I like the idea, but why would Denver EVER do it?

I can see it now….

“So we give you Marshall this year….and we get……nothing? so yeah, um, no.”

If this post contains no substance, just assume that my answer is Brandon Marshall. Pay the 1st and 3rd, get the proven guy, and don't worry about that position for the next decade.

by Fr8Train on Mar 11, 2010 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

I see what ya saying but I don’t see Marshall playing with Denver next year. I’m sure he’s packed n ready to go. Denver is on the lookout for the best deal for him. But we need a capable NT to start this season and Williams is the man IMO. That’s why i think we can’t get rid of our first pick this year. If they need something this year then we should package something together.

I don't know if you didn't read my signature

but, if anyone is on the Brandon Marshall bandwagon, its me. I’ve discussed it, and argued for it from pretty much every angle (I’m sure everyone here will agree).

I also agree that BM’s relationship with Denver is damaged beyond repair (unless they offer him a HUGE contract as money fixes everything), but I don’t see anyway that Denver doesn’t get decent compensation THIS year for him.

Especially with a new Head Coach in his second year. You don’t extend your tenure with a new team by getting rid of the 2 superstars (Cutler/Marshall), without getting significant immediate compensation for your team, so you can immediately address those holes.

I think Denver might do it for a 2nd this year, and mid round pick next year. Or a 2nd and a player (if we had someone they wanted)…

But they definitely will want a pick this year…..and yes, I’d give them our 1st this year if I had to.

If this post contains no substance, just assume that my answer is Brandon Marshall. Pay the 1st and 3rd, get the proven guy, and don't worry about that position for the next decade.

Next Years Pick

If we could trade next years pick and say this years 3rd and throw in Cam. I say do it with a contract for Marshall based on performance on and off the field. An in a perfect world we trade back in the 1st and pick up a 3rd. I think next years 1st could be more attractive for a team with the hope that there will be a rookie salary cap. Plus next year is when we are probably going to grab a WR in the 1st anyway.

thats all cute and all but lets say you due get him for a 1st round pick

now you have to give him a long-term contract which is something the past two regimes(shanahan, Mcdaniels) didnt want to commit to and so far no other teams either so why us.

Because Brandon is the only #1 in FA. And we need a #1 to open up our offense. But we have more pressing needs at other position to address in the draft. But we can say we can wait till next year to find one. Then next year we can say we can wait till next year. Then the year after we can say we can wait till next year. I doubt Parcels will ever draft a receiver high because its extremely risky. See Ted Ginn

by 54 on Mar 11, 2010 4:13 PM EST up reply actions

Dont blame Ted Ginn for not drafting a receiver high...

We all know he should’ve never been a 1st rounder let alone a top 10 pick…if the Trifecta wants to go Defense then fine…I just don’t want them drafting Dez Bryant, who is unproven and has issues already and not go after Marshall? Makes no sense at all..

by tonyy on Mar 11, 2010 4:24 PM EST up reply actions

If we draft Dez, instead of getting Marshall

I’d be completely COMPLETELY disappointed in our Front Office.

If Marshall’s “character” issues scares off the Front office, then Dez’s definitely has to, especially since his involves his work ethic. If they ignore that, then clearly they are misguided in their judgments, and “character” never was the real issue.

No offense...

But as someone who has worked in the media, I can tell you that story could easily have been edited to show that the girls involved were the instigators. Its all in perspectives and editing my friend, and the fact that a good portion of the police visits to the home were because of the girl, and not Marshall….well, lets try not to overlook that.

As for Bryant, its as substantial as Brandon Marshall’s non convictions…..

If this post contains no substance, just assume that my answer is Brandon Marshall. Pay the 1st and 3rd, get the proven guy, and don't worry about that position for the next decade.

by Fr8Train on Mar 11, 2010 5:01 PM EST up reply actions

But lets not find out his version of the story. Im sure that girl never ever did anything to prevoke him.

Did she ever hit him? slap him? push him? No you will never ever hear that. Also why did she not file charges? Why did she stay with him? Ya but shes the complete victim. And she had another fight.. but didnt report it as usual. Im not saying he did not have issues.. or does not have issues. But that does not mean he is a horrible person. Allot of guys have these issues when they are 20ish years old. And allot of guys grow up and never do it again. Also, sometimes couples just do not get along, add immaturity into the mix and a woman pushing buttons and an immature guy and you have fights like this happen. I work with people in this field and know a few cases where a guy and a girl just cannot be together. The guy has issues, is immature and anger issues then the woman has issues, anger problems, pushes buttons, the guy cheats or something.. the girl does the same (or whatever you want to insert here) and it lends to a very bad situation. But that does not mean the guy does this, or has these issues the rest of his life. I know more then one guy who had issues like this when he was 17 to early 20’s that have moved on and married or whatnot and never had these issues ever again.

I guess what I am trying to say is just because someone has these issues at one point in their life it does not mean they will always have issues like this for the rest of his life.

RFA thank u. I hear Parcells hasn’t drafted a WR in the first two rounds of any draft. Also I know little about other teams to come up with examples. It is said it usually takes a receiver 3 years to play at a high level in the NFL. I know there were a few rookies that did well last year though.

First and foremost we need to make a petition to sign Zach so he can retrire as a phin

And second I would not mind at all if we got Marsh even better if we could give up next years pick instead, now things are looking up we are in talks with JT and we are still looking at ufa’s and rfa’s so you never know also Kc is down a tight end they just lost Ryan hmmm maybe well hopefully they make a move for Fasano but I would be able to sleep a lot better if we get someone in fa to fill one of the holes before the draft

Trade down is the only way to fill all holes effectively.

Draft scenario:
Trade down into late teens early 20’s, pick up additional 2nd rounder, then trade 1st rounder for Marshall and draft as follows:
2a) Nate Allen FS
2b) Ricky Sapp OLB
3) Linval Joseph NT
4) Jimmy Graham TE/LaGarrett Blount RB
6a) Daryl Sharpton ILB/Colin Peek TE(if Graham not drafted)
6b) Best Available OG
6c) LB depth
7a and b) WR and S depth
= perfect draft and maximized offseason.

like the concept but

jimmy graham wont fall to the fourth daryl shapton is to small to be a parcell backer and i still doubt we trade a 1st for marshall

No it isn't, first of all no way we could trade down with everybody fuffiling their needs through Free Agency.

Second Those players you picked are not worth it besides a few here’s mine without trading down in the first. I think we will trade for a 5th round pick though somehow probrably trading down in the second or something:

2) Jerry Hughes
3) Jimmy Graham
4) Lamar Houston
5) Robert Johnson
6)RB
6) OG
7) WR
Now that’s realistic and Value isn’t it

Its a fan's fantasy though....

Very very few teams actually want to trade up.

We are always talking about trading down to pick up picks, but that just doesn’t happen very often. And it happens even less in a DEEP draft, which this is. Because teams know they can get comparable talent later in the round for less money.

If this post contains no substance, just assume that my answer is Brandon Marshall. Pay the 1st and 3rd, get the proven guy, and don't worry about that position for the next decade.

Problem is we need a starting FS and Nate Allen is probably the best option for a pure FS in the draft besides Berry. That move needs to happen.

i think in the preseason we should trade a 1st or 2nd round pick and tedd ginn depending what the broncs want.

by dingleberrywatson on Mar 11, 2010 7:04 PM EST reply actions

Brandon Marshall

The team has committed to Dansby. The contracts given to Boldin and Bryant are high. In addition to the first rounder, Marshall will want a long-term contract above those two guys (say something like the Dansby contract). Plus, this is a good draft, so I would not trade this year’s pick. If the Broncos’ FO would agree to next year’s 1st rounder and something else, then I would scream “Go get BM!!!” Otherwise, no thanks.

Marshall doesn't want to stay in Denver

Lets look at some facts!
1) Cutler was a pretty good QB while in Denver
2) Cutler was not such a good QB in Chicago
3) Kyle Orton was not a very good QB in Chicago
4) Kyle Orton was a reasonably good QB in Denver

Soooo, it would seem that the WR can make an average QB look pretty good. Dante Culpepper was a great QB when throwing to Chris Carter and Randy Moss!! Get my drift!!

I think as we get closer to draft day or on Draft days, Denver may be willing to entertain other offers. IMHO, I would think if we can we can give up a first round pick and lets say a third round pick for Marshall and Denver’s second round pick, I would make that kind of deal. I think we won’t need to give up a straight #12 pick. If we were in the 20-30 range then I would jump on it! However, I am not the TUNA and other than the Pat White brain fart, I have been pleased with our drafts the last couple of yrs!

We still need a WR, NT, and a FS, but I think 99.9% of the people who read this crap know that!!
