My Dream offseason/draft

Although I have been following and love this sight for about a year this is my first post or comment.  This is not a mock draft per se;  just what I would love to see happen with the rest of our offseason and the upcoming draft.  I must first admit I am a little bit biased...I played linebacker growing up so of course that is my favorite position but I tried not to be too blind to our other needs!  We all know we need an OLB, FS, WR, NT and could even still use another ILB so here is my dream of how we fill those needs.

First of all I must say I loved the Karlos Dansby signing.(ILB check)  Next I would like us to target Otagwe from the Rams.(FS check)  Now this is where it gets fun!  Im gonna just stick with the first three rounds of the draft because I feel that excluding the diamonds in the rough that the 4th-7th rounds are for depth and projects.  So here we go!

Round 1- Sean Weatherspoon ILB- It may be a BIG reach but I take him to play ILB and not OLB.  I love his ability and think he has the skill set to play ILB next to Dansby.  (I'm not completely sold on McClain although I would not be mad if we got him and I think Dez Bryant's character is garbage.  He didn't work out at the combine or his pro day because he's not in shape.  Even Mt Cody is making efforts to get in shape!) (ILB check again)

Round 2- Jerry Hughes  OLB- BEAST(what more can you say) (OLB check)

Round 3- Joseph Linval NT-  Small school guy but built in the mold of our own Ferguson.  Will develop nicely.  (NTcheck)

Now I know what your saying ..."what about WR you knucklehead?"  Well this is BP's 3rd year and I believe its his last so I think on the last day of the draft there is a trade.

So for my final move we trade 2011's 1st round pick and Will Allen(and hopefully Ted Ginn and fam) to the Dallas Cowboys for Miles Austin!  I have been watching for this kid since last offseason and was glad to see him breakout!  I think it's only the beginning for him.  I know JJ won't let him go easily but hopefully a trade package along those lines makes him atleast think about it!

So that is what my dream offseason and draft would look like!

I know this was long but let me know what you think!  I don't cry easily so don't worry about hurting my feelings!! Haha

love the first pick but...

I believe if we draft Weatherspoon it would be for him to play OLB at least initially. Remember we have Crowder too and althogh Crowder is not great I still don’t see Weatherspoon supplanting him as a rookie. Therefore, as much as I like Hughs I think it would be overkill. I would prefer Brian Price or G. Tate if he somehow slips.

I can’t criticize your 3rd rounder because I honesly have no clue who Linley is. I’ll have to do some homework.

Great Eye

You got it backwards its linval joseph hes a beast. He’s 6-6 320, a gargantuan run stuffer, very raw played for ECU in Conference USA but a beast, he wouldn’t start right away but might develop and can prob get him in the 4-7 rds

Sincityphinfan,

Just want to let you know that Joseph is a little too tall to play the nose at 6’6". Ideal nose tackle height is 6’1" to 6’4"

I love the Hughes pick.

But I’m beginning to think he might not be around in round 2.

And Weatherspoon at 12 is a little bit of a reach.

So what am I saying? In a perfect world, the Dolphins trade down in round 1.

Like the idea of stocking on quality LBS

As good as Miles Austin is i wouldnt give up that much for him, i’d rather use the pick on a julio jones or aj green next year.
Last years problems was that we gave up too many big plays and we made too few big plays. To really get deep into the playoffs we must make the offence more dynamic and i believe the draft is filled with dynamic players such as CJ Spiller, D. Mccluster, M. Gilyard, G. Tate, J.Ford and also TEs like Gresham, Graham and even D.Dickerson.

Sean13-Linval measured in at 6’4 at the combine so I think he can develop well. He’s got a good center of gravity for eating blocks plus he benched 39 times at the combine so he has upper body strength as well.

Aquandy- I definitely think we need a gamebreaker! I’m a ND fan so I love this kid and everything he can do…I think we take Graham in the 4th

Matty thanks for commenting on my post!!

Wait till Deuce Black see's this

he thinks McClain is better than Weatherspoon. And if we do get Weatherspoon he’ll prolly play OLB.

Love the first two picks

and agree that you could move Spoons inside. . .my only concern with him playing inside would be his weight, 239lbs lbs, but he could also use his size and athletic ability to his advantage as far as leverage goes( shedding blocks on taller bigger line men), being able to play in and out is huge. . .plus you have to love his character.
