'MT' Cody continues to impress....
Well, its apparent Cody is commited to losing the weight still, as he showed up at his pro day down from the combine at 349. Not only did he show up lighter than the combine, but a wopping 21 pounds lighter than the 370 he weighed at the Senior Bowl. And, his workout wasnt bad either. Check Alabama's Pro day to see, as I am without any links available. sorry! So, I continue to iterate that if Dan williams is no longer available, which its looking like Denver is liking him more and more, that we move down and pick up Cody. This guy will be a beast at the NT position and we are in dire need of just such a NT.

I would say thats a good sign but not totally sure about the guy. I could see him working
his ass off to loose the weight to increase his draft value, get his big pay day and then get super fat again.

Hopefully that's where the "fear of Tuna" kicks in.
Welcome to the big time, Cody.

I guess but I also don't think the Tuna wants guys that require babysitting.
It seems like a minor expectation to stay in some sort of shape with the kind of money these guys make.

College grads or no, they're still kids.
It’s more like a wake up call. That’s one of the sweet benefits of having Parcell’s in the mix.
All of these kids know him.

Dont get me wrong. The kid may get to the NFL and shock everyone and be some
sort of a gym rat type. I just would prefer to see a guy a bit more motivated by this point. I know when I was a kid playing football in HS I was more motivated than he seems. I guess it also comes down to where you pick him.

Perhaps,
but like the mooch said, “You almost even want them a little sloppy…” in reference to Cody and how you would like your premium gap stop “power pig” NT to be. I think he did it for the pay day too….but I think he did it under advice given to him by none other than Coach Sparano at the Senior Bowl. Advice and perhaps an insight to whom might like to draft him. Sparano had good things to say about Cody then, all except his concern about the weight, and bam by pro day he’s 21 pounds lighter and moving like he never has. Sure, the drive for his loss was a payday…but will his pride, and determination take him to the next level in the NFL and keep it off. I think it will. He’s shown a lot in the last month.
Now sure, all around if Dan Williams is available at 12 we have to coincider him the better of the 2 and go with Dan. But if Denver does as what is now becoming general thought and drafts Dan, why not move back, get an extra 3rd round pick (as by then no one would give up a second to move up for…McClain) and roll the dice with “MT” Cody. Sure it’s risk/reward but so was resigning Fergy and that tells you there is a bit of desperation still in the position. And who knows, with Fergy being out the first 8 games he may take young Cody under his wing, teach him the in’s and out’s of the position and instill some values about decent playing weight. Not a bad mentor to have don’t you think?

I would not be pissed if we grabbed him as I would assume that our FO did all their homework
first and thus would have a lot more insight on the guy. That being said I would also be a bit worried that he would stay in shape. Sure you want the guy to be big and maybe carry a bit of extra weight but there has to be some sort of limit to it. As far as a mentor there are plenty of guys on this team that could take him under their wing and show him what it means to be a professional.

I Think Cody Will Do Fine. Look at The Top 5 NTs in The NFL. Their Huge.
I like to get Cody in the second round. Cam Thomas would be a good fit also. I could see us getting 2 NTs in this Draft. It’s a deep position in this years draft.
I think he realizes how much money he could lose
If he doesn’t get it in gear. Stud NTs are what all 3-4 teams want and need. A team will reach for one if they think it’s worth it to them.
i mentioned cody and kindle several times several weeks ago..........
i still think mount cody will be hard to pass on……..
there are two guys out of south florida that we should keep our eye on…
jason paul pierre and nate allen…..
so many people are saying that parcells like to draft seniors…..and that is true of several postions…especially offensive line and quarterback…..naturally….
but on the other side of the ball……we have several players that were selected as juniors…. jpp is a junior….so he is not out of the loop…….keep an eye on these two…… i’m telling you right now…..
by the way……i am just not sold on all the 6’2" and under OLB prospects at the top of the draft…….and i dont think our front office will be either……yep you hear it here……….
Just one mans opinion...
this guy is a football genius......you should listen to him.........
yep……you heard it first here too………..

I'll be honest
I’m starting to be impressed with him dropping all that weight. He’s down 21 lbs since that mess at the Senior Bowl, and the only way that happens is if he committed himself to working his ass off. The only issue I see is “Antonio Bryant Syndrome,” where he works hard to get paid, then shuts it down again. Where was this commitment to himself and the sport when he was playing at Bama, or before the Senior Bowl? I have a feeling it’s showing up because he knows he’s costing himself money, and he needs to get in shape to improve his draft stock. So even with this newfound love of the gym, I’m still scared of taking him. That contract might make him lazy again, which happens with plenty of players.
Saying all that, I don’t know if I’d be mad if we took him in the 3rd round, because A) if he truly is committed and gets his ass in gear, he’s a steal at that pick, and B) if he goes back to the See-Food diet, we aren’t out huge money and we don’t fail on a pick in the top 2 rounds. I think 3rd round and beyond is where you can take a risk if you like the potential reward. Top 2 rounds, you gotta land studs IMO.

There is no way Cody is available in the 3rd
As much as he is risk/reward he is still Top 3 as NT, and many teams are looking forward to take one.
I would not mind take Cody in the 2nd, of course if he is there on the 3rd IS a steal.
