4-round FINS mock draft (Round 1)
I tried this last year and I am trying it again. I am going to link a four round FINS mock draft.
Here are players that might be there in the first round. If you disagree, please share your ideas and your reasons in the comments below. You can wait until I've set it up or vote now.
If you follow the links, share your final draft of the four players you select at the end and we can discuss who got the best value...

but ok!

not necessarily saying he is a first rounder, but that the FINS might select him because...
he would be gone before their second round pick (say by Buffalo at their early 2nd round pick).
Also, with the many teams switching to the 3-4, players, especially big burly nose tackles may be taken earlier than they are worth…just food for thought
Where do you see Cam Thomas going?
1st: Earl Thomas S; 2nd: Lamarr Houston DE; 3rd: Emmanuel Sanders WR; 4th: Arthur Jones NT; 6A: Kade Weston NT; 6B:Colin Peek TE; 6C Adrian Tracy OLB; 7A: Thomas Austin G/C; 7B: Scott Long WR;
I was thinking the second round.
But, if he is a 1st, we should trade down then.

This isnt too shabby
I think I could deal with this. But I would still also like to address LB in the draft. My only thing is the fact that we NEED a NT and FS, to develop for our future or can start right away. We also NEED a LB because we run a 3-4 for depth.
Cam Thomas
won’t be there at 43. Everyone thinks, well, the Fins could pick him at 12 and him at 43. There’s NO guarantee. You want something, get it now. Never mind about general value – if he’s value to you, that’s all you need. I’m not saying they will take him (naturally, no one knows) but it’s a long distance between 12 and 43 and mid-70’s when we pick in the 3rd. Good luck to them.
ouch
Are you people serious?

Don't discount McClain.
Dansby / McClain up the gut sounds like a formidable combo.

Crowder isn't going to the bench after what we paid him
and we won’t be tying up pick #12 money into a position that’s already expensive.

Nicky your words of wisdom always make my heart flutter
But in all reality, I think unless we some how sign a free agent NT, the first pick will go towards Dan Williams or Cam Thomas(?). jason is old and even though he has a lot of heart, age is still a factor. Paul Soliai is a good back up, but thats it back up. And the fact that we will be without a true NT starter for the first 8 weeks really hurts our defense without or without Karlos Dansby.
keep that center & guard off dansby

With Fergie suspended
And Soliai not showing much last year, I think we’ll be picking NT by round three. Williams in the first would not suprise me, but a offensive playmaker would make me happy.
I disagree
and you don’t pick BPA when you are set at a position for multiple years. You move on to the next BPA.
And McClain isn’t better than Dansby or Crowder, so you’re picking a guy at 12 that rides bench for the duration of his rookie contract.

Don't we need another pass rusher opposite Cam Wake
As I see it the dolphins have many needs that can be addressed but should be addressed in order of importance and quality of talent available. 1st yes the fins need a playmaker at FS but they are already so young at CB wouldn’t a vet at FS be a better fit. Also as concerns the secondary I think a vet a CB would also be beneficial. 2nd, for the 3-4 to really explode you have to have 2 dynamic passrushers at OLB, Wake is 1 of em whos the other, ILB is set and depth at LB is fine. DL is actually OK, I thihnk we need to get better at NT but Soliai is not bad, he’s serviceable and Ferguson will be back down the stretch, I don’t think NT is as pressing as we might think, though I think D.Wiliams will be a stud. Our DE’s are set, good rotation with Merling Langford and Starks.
On offense QB position is set, OL is OK though I think we could use a younger more agile RT, maybe A. Davis from RUT, and move Carey inside to gaurd where he would prob be more effective. TE and FB are fine We need to get younger at RB as Ronnie gets hurt and could only be around 1 or 2 more years and Ricky is in his last year, perhaps a RB like Hardesty or Tate in the mid to late rounds. Finally, WR we need a dynamic #1 receiver, Bryant could be it or Dem Thomas could develop into one.
In closing i would like to see the following in the 1st 2 RDs
1st Rd- D. Bryant WR or S. Kindle OLB or A. Davis RT
2nd Rd- D. Thomas WR or Thomas or Cody DT or Sapp OLB or Pouncey OG/C
Ok
i am cool with Kindle (wouldnt be my first choice) but Bryant or Davis? This FO can get a decent RT in the later rounds.
I love Demaryius Thomas. But the 2nd round? I cant agree. he is a 4th rounder. I mean he is a steal in the 4th round, but taking him higher (especailly cconsidering where we choose in the round) would be a mistake. Cody maybe alright if all other options are gone at NT
Don't forget they plan to move Merling to SOLB
where he could have a Matt Roth like impact without the mystery groin injury
1st: Earl Thomas S; 2nd: Lamarr Houston NT/DE; 3rd: Jimmy Graham TE; 4th: Emmanuel Sanders WR; 6A: Stevenson Sylvester ILB; 6B: Adrian Tracy OLB; 6C: Scott Long WR; 7A: Thomas Austin G/C; 7B: DeMarcus Granger NT;
O.J. Atogwe
I would love for the dolphins to pick up Atogwe, he’s a rangy smart athletic coverage minded FS, but how much would he cost. If Rolle got 37 ML over 5 years and hes a pro bowler what would it take to get Atogwe from the Rams. Id like to hear what yall think.
I think a 4 year 25 mil may get him
I have not read anything about any teams pursuing him. Which is strange so there has to be something amiss. I mean if St. Louis didnt tender him, whats up. They dont want any compensation for a starter?
I think offering him something similar to what Clark got would be closer
He doesnt compare to Rolle. Rolle was the best FS in FA, so this was his time to get it.
O.J. Atogwe
He was Franchised last year at roughly $6.3 million. He’s a better FS than Rolle. He’s coming off of shoulder surgery. From what I can gather we offered A. Rolle roughly $32 mil over 5yrs. It’s tough to say what Atogwe will cost and we may have to pay it. He is a year older than Rolle so I would maybe offer him a 4yr. deal with 5th year option. $6-$7million a year.

I think there's a money game being played here
The Rams can match any offer made. I think the Rams are trying to gauge how much to pay him and he’ll resign with them.
About D. Williams. In my experience, the only people hoping for Williams are those who have heard that NT is our biggest need – without actually examining our roster situation. And, by that same token, they’re the same people who have heard that D. Williams is the best NT in the draft without seeing what we can get in later rounds at the position. Unless it’s C. Thomas in the 2nd or 3rd, I don’t see us drafting a NT before the 4th. There are other 2-down NT’s that play with greater leverage than Williams.

I guess.
If Thomas, McClain, Weatherspoon (he’s so fast for a big dude.) and Kindle are gone and trading down isn’t an option then Williams would be a OK pick.
