Agent Lamont Smith said the Dolphins have expressed an interest in free agent receiver Antonio Bryant. But Cincinnati hosted him Tuesday and has been more aggressive.
-Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.
As much as I'm not a fan of Bryant's, signing him to a short-term deal has its benefits - especially in terms of draft flexibility. But other teams are probably more interested in Antonio at this point.
[UPDATE: Bryant has signed with Cincinnati - a reported 4 year, $28 million. That's a lot of money for a player with one good season.]

I would rather spend the 1st rnd pick on Marshall than bring in Bryant
And I’m not a fan of getting Marshall….

Bingo!
Wow, maybe I need to test the Free Agent market or at least offer my pass catching talents to the Bengals.
I mean seriously $28M for a guy whose season averages are: 41 receptions, 634 yards receiving and 3 TD’s per year????
I’m with Mosul, I’d rather a) bring in Marshall, or b) draft Dez………..either one of those moves, rather than have dropped $28M for Antonio. Mind you, like Mosul, I’m not a fan of getting Marshall or drafting Dez!
I wouldn't be opposed to signing Bryant
He’s not my favorite receiver, but I think he’d work well in our offense and would probably hit it off with Henne.
And isn’t Cincy also talking to TO? Interesting.

, but someone said that it wouldn’t happen because Parcells didn’t like him. I would love to get him to a 3 year contract. I think he may be better than any other reciever we have.

i think he will be a good pick up for now.
bryant and camrillio will be our starting wr’s and then in the slot you have bess. i like that combo. just until miami can find a true number one wr with zero injuries problems i see this working well.
Not because he's better yet,
but because of his potential and need to learn the game. I agree.

I actually dont believe we'll get a wr nor even need
one this year

disagree with the need part
This team needs a true #1 target for Henne. I don’t see anyone on the current roster stepping up and being that guy.

I don't think the Phins will get a WR this year either, but they definately need one.
I look at it this way. Of the last 6 teams to play in the Super Bowl (NE, NYG, Pit, Ari, NO, & Ind) the 2nd most important piece of each of those teams on offense (1st being the QB) was a pass catcher (Moss, Burress, Holmes, Fitzgerald, Colston, Wayne). It wasn’t a RB or a LT, it was a WR.
Let's get offensive this offseason!

Not against BRYANT if its reasonable contract.
BUT WE COULD HAVE USED LB WITHERSPOON…..
“The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on a three-year, $11 million deal with Will Witherspoon, according to reports….Analysis: The team confirmed that the 29-year-old Witherspoon visited the team Tuesday. The Tennessean and The (Nashville) City Paper reported on their Web sites Tuesday night that they had reached the team’s first deal of free agency.”
Cheap contract for a good player – and we need depth at LB !!!

DRAFT a #1 WR now.........
I would have liked him if we didnt sign Dansby
We would have had to cut Crowder as well to open up a spot for him.. I am actually all for it but its too late now. Witherspoon is a better player than Channing

If you can sign him to a small $ contract,
thats the only way I want this guy, I want him to be easy to get rid of, he has been vastly overrated, would he upgrade our WR corps, yes, but how much, could be a lot, could be a little.
He has not really proved he is #1 material, 2 1000yd seasons, his TD high for a season is 7, then 6, those are the only 2 times he has ever surpassed 4 TDs.
His entire career has been based on potential with only a little empirical data to back that up.

When healthy and out of trouble Antonio Bryant can be a damn good weapon!
Folks, we have to remember that we don’t need 2 guys to catch 80+ balls. All we need is a guy (or 2) that will keep that saftey out of the box for the run game. And if an oppossing d-coordinator does wants to test us the wr needs to be able to beat a bd playing man to man. A top tier #1 guy would be great, but with what is on the table Bryant can get it done and I think the price will be right.
i dont think he's got the size and/or speed to command that presence though....

I have a feeling that whoever gets him is going to overpay.
he has yet to really prove himself. he has done little but one amazing one-handed circus catch since his time on the bucs, a team that blows and throws alot. I wouldn’t be objected to bring him in but please do not give him underserved cash we can use elsewhere.
I would rather bring in a lower guy like Brandon Lloyd, pay him less and see what he’s got…
I still do not know how Brandon Marshall is not worth a #1 pick? Why is this guy not signed yet???

... but is Lloyd a Patrick Turner?
… and that #1 tag is pretty intimidating given todays players in the draft…
I agree with passing on A. Bryant unless zero picks are involved and it’s a cheap price. The Dolphins will not overpay for this guy. That’s why they are not strong contenters for his services….

lloyd's more of a shifty guy
patrick turner looks like lurch he’s like 6’4 180. he’s not physical enough to get separation and he can’t run routes and he’s really not good at catching either. honestly i was never sold on that selection. lloyd won’t be a beast (see Brandon Marshall) but he’s quick and shifty, like a couple other guys we have and could have a successful ‘cotchery-like numbers’ season

I really laught at the though we will draft a wr #1 We are a run based offense and a strong defense even if we got Brandon Marshall we still be a run based offense. The first pic would be Taylor Mays he could be another Troy Polmolau. And maybe the second round Terrance Cody. We could pic’s up T.O. and we would have met our most important needs. Corey Wootson or Jermaine cunningham in the third round. maybe Linval Joseph in the four round. & alot of depth and backup to develop in the later rounds.
