Combine rumor: Boldin will finally get dealt
Well i know this topic has gotten beaten to death so why not once more? Do you think we should trade a 2nd or a 3rd round pick to Arizona to get it done?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/02/25/combine-rumor-boldin-will-finally-get-dealt/
Per PFT.com they are reporting that Boldin will finally get traded. My question is, do we give up whatever it is that Arizona is looking for to acquire Boldin? Given he is only 29 years old. He is big, physical, and has great hands. The negatives are that he is injury prone, and only played one full season since he came into the league...something that doesn't vibe with the Regime.
To me, i know we need a "playmaker", but is it worth giving up a pick, then having to re-do his deal, or would you rather draft someone, and have them under your control with a team friendly contract? Yes he is a proven commodity in this league, but we need healthy players, not pay to acquire someone that can't get on the field.
Thoughts?

Get it done
then give him an incentive laden contract. Maybe one based on how many games he plays. He plays ten + games,he stays healthy,he makes bank,he gets hurt,he still gets paid, just not as much

We need this pass D to STEP THE F UP and do what they get paid to do!
We dont need a 30+ receiver we need younger, Bowe or Marshall will do fine
4th or straight up trade
3rd is too much, they need to deal and he’s at the edge of too old for a long-term deal so you can only expect to get 2-3 yrs from him. How about a straight up deal for Hartline or Bess? They get a younger (cheaper) guy who complements their receivers and we get a #1 and don’t lose a pick.
WHAT????? Hartline and Bess will never get traded they are one of the best complimentary recivers you could find
each with their own skill sets it will be hard to replace one of them

Do I need to repeat it?
Cammy catches more balls than Bess does, and Cammy fights harder for yards. They are both equally brave to go across the middle, except Cammy is a bit faster. Camarillo ftw.

Perhaps but one was a 2nd year receiver and one was a 5th year guy.
I would say they are both good but close as far as skill at this point. I would also point out that Bess is entering his 3rd year which is a breakout year for a lot of receivers. Bess over Cam in a heartbeat for me.

Bess is the best receiver we have…ok camarillo doesn’t drop passes but he also can’t make the plays that Bess does, doesn’t have the quickness Bess does and hasn’t made those impossible catches that Bess has…don’t even compared a 2nd year receiver to camarillo…Bess is our best wr and our future

Camarillo makes great plays.
Who else catches a ball with his legs?
Maybe we are all forgetting that he was just 1 year removed from a torn ACL, which kept him from playing as much as he did in 2008 (just like Ronnie Brown did not perform up to snuff in 2008 since he was a year removed from his ACL as well).
If Camarillo couldn’t make plays, then how on earth can he catch such a high percentage of balls? Does he only get easy balls thrown at him or something? Statistically speaking, it just does not compute that Bess makes “more plays” yet catches less balls thrown his way. Over a large sample size with the same parameters (ie QB), they are going to get the same percentage of tough catches.
I present to you that you, not I, are the retard.

Dude, your high % argument doesn't hold water,
in 08 Bess caught 72%, Camarillo caught 71.4%,
in 09 Bess caught 71.7%, camarillo caught 72.4%
So they’re about the same and the “Camarillo catches a higher %” argument holds no water.

Actually...
if you average them together, Bess = 143.7/2 and Camarillo = 143.8/2, so technically Cammy caught a higher % of passes.

That's a fair assessment,
but Cammy is still better right now and I do not think Bess will actually surpass him. I think Bess is hamstrung by his lack of top speed. The mofo is quick, I agree with that, and I also agree that he is an excellent #2 or #3, but given the choice between the two I’d take Camarillo in a heartbeat.
I would like to state that at the end of the 2008 season, I thought Bess was Jesus’ offspring and that Camarillo was the redundant one, but after watching Camarillo come back in ’09, I knew I had to testify!

actually man, i don't really think Cammy if faster than Bess
i think they are about the same in their ability to stretch the field… neither really can.
So that leaves short speed and lateral quickness. Cammy runs very good routes; Bess is probably quicker/shiftier.

Camarillo has longer plays than Bess...
I don’t think Bess would have made a TD versus Baltimore in ’07. This is why I think Camarillo is faster, it just seems like his maximum potential for yards after the catch is greater than Bess.

Our OREO Bess Welker? and the always beating HARTLINE?
You have to be joking. More like SkinnyGinn,GimpLeg Camarillo, Thigpen or Fasano. We should use them for trade bait and extra draft picks, then trade down with our pick. Now we have a late first rounder, Anquan Boldin, 4 picks in the next TWO rounds!!!! Sergio Kindle, Dan Williams, Brandon Spikes, C.J Spiller…..I think there are alot of game changers out there right now. Whats more important I ask… NT or ILB/OLB ? If only parcells would reach for Dez Bryant or Boldin I would be happy with watever defensive picks he chose.
HARTLINE? HARTLINE? ARE YOU KIDDIN ME? HARTLINE?
No way do we trade Hartline or Bess, too good of posession receivers. Send em Porter or Ginn and a pick. Besides, with no Hartline, I have no bandwagon to drive!

The Cards Don't Need Receivers
Trade Porter, Akin, Wilson for Boldin and Rolle. Then there is no bidding war and they get three guys that fill their needs. Because we will also be getting Dansby so they will need to fill that hole at ILB.
????
So are you suggesting that Arizona is gonna trade Boldin and Rolle to us for Crybaby Porter, Akin Breakin my Heart Ayodele, and The Gerbil Wilson?
The Cards may not need WRs and they may want to cut ties with Rolle, but I’m pretty sure they don’t want to take on baggage like Porter Ayodele and Wilson. If they wanted an overpaid FS they would just keep what they got as opposed to taking on Wilson, JP is past his prime and would cost us $1 million just to trade him, and Ayodele is a huge downgrade at ILB for them. They will be looking to plug there holes from free agency but they aren’t going to settle for garbage especially when they would have to sign Boldin in order to trade him.
Everyone knows Porter will be available when we cut him so why would anybody trade for him??

Reap
Sorry, I should have explained my statement better. I’ve brought this up in several other threads. Another team’s junk is another team’s treasure. First you and I both know that the Cards are cheap when it comes down to paying their players. Dansby is gone we all know that and so they need a fill in at ILB. Give them Akin or Give them Crowder or Torber. I think we know that one of those three will not be on our team by the start of the season. They are all over paid anyways. One thing the Cards do well is Draft Talent. They have young guys that are just not ready to start yet at all these positions. Rolle will be cut by next week they don’t want to pay him more then A. Wilson who is making $37mil. Rolle is using the $12mil he is due so the team will cut him. Rolle will probably cost us about $30mil. We would be giving them G. Wilson to fill the loss of Rolle. JP might be past his prime, but, I’m going to bet he still has 9 sack a year in him for next the 2-3 years. Wisehunt coached in Pitt. when JP was there. JP knows the defense they run in AZ and said he would like to play for AZ, SD, or SF. By the way the $1Mil JP is due is on Mar. 10th not Mar. 5th. So 5 days to trade him. Hell we could even swap out G. Wilson and put Y. Bell on the block. I like Bell though. The other thing that comes into play is the Cards are a Final 8 team and limited in the signing of F/As. Boldin doesn’t have be signed to be traded. Boldin wants to play in Mia. and I’m sure he would be more than glad to work out a deal for say $6-$8mil a year. Which in FL. is equal to about $7-$9mil. Boldin is making $3mil this year sad, but, true.

Sorry
Run on paragraphs suck I know. If you can get through it you will see there other possiblities for the Boldin trade.
by FinFanFromCA on Feb 26, 2010 4:16 PM EST up reply actions
You got me there
I don’t know why but I was thinking of JP and Boldin in terms of free agency when both are signed. What I don’t get is you mention how the Cards are cheap when it comes to their players but that they would take on any of our LBs who to quote you, “are all over paid anyways.” They might be stop gap pickups but I just don’t see it happening. I think it works great on our end (Cost of Boldin and Rolle’s contracts aside) but it would look disastrous for the Cards after a couple of games.
Arizona wants to keep Rolle. They are trying to work out an extension for him but Rolle is hedging heavily on the $12 million the Cards would owe him next year ($4 mil bonus + $8 mil salary) so the Cards will likely release him (which means a bidding war with the Bears) unless a trade gets worked out before the roster bonus kicks in.
Boldin could work but the Cards will want either a 2nd in return or a 3rd and another pick. Maybe a trade of Boldin for Porter and our 3rd round pick will happen. The Cards will almost certainly move Boldin since he would become a free agent in 2011.
NY Jets = NFL's Chicago Cubs

by TheFinReaper on Feb 26, 2010 4:31 PM EST up reply actions
Rolle and Dansby
The Cards are going to lose them anyway why not try and get something in return. Same goes for us JP and one ILB are gone. Our ILBs are over paid for what they give us in production. One comparison is Dansby this year at roughly $10mil and JP at roughly $5mil. They cut their cost in that sense. I’m still pissed we didn’t get something for Roth.
by FinFanFromCA on Feb 26, 2010 5:00 PM EST up reply actions
All valid arguments
Perhaps the only thing to get in the way is that we are not the only teams that have interest in the Cards Big 3. I would love to see us get Dansby, Rolle, and Boldin, but I would be fine without Rolle if we get a good FS in the draft.
NY Jets = NFL's Chicago Cubs

by TheFinReaper on Feb 26, 2010 10:04 PM EST up reply actions
Agreed
If we get Dansby and Boldin this offseason I would be very happy. In my opinion this would be the perfect year to go big in F/A. Uncapped year and an owner willing to pay the money. FS to me is like NT in the sense there aren’t to many good ones out there.

For the right price go get it done
The second that the price enters the 2nd round I’d tell them forget it. 3rd+ Camarillo should get it done. Maybe throw in another player or a 6th rounder.
