We can all agree that the Dolphins need a #1 wide receiver. Ginn has blazing speed, but not the hands and playmaking abilities to be the guy. Bess and Camarillo are both possession receivers, and not really cut out to take the playmaking role. Hartline would probably be our best chance, but I cannot see him developing into our #1 WR. So who is it going to be? A lot of people say Anquan Boldin is our best bet. But is he worth it?
Yes, for only a third round pick. Why do I say this. Because of Patrick Turner. We drafted him in the 3rd round, and he has not made a catch the whole season, and has not even contributed for special teams. I think we can all safely say the we would trade Patrick Turner for Bouldin.
But odds are, we are going to have to have to give up more. A third + a decent player, or a 2nd rounder. However, I do not think it is worth it. He will be at age 30 by next season, and his career will definitely by somewhat cut short due to his injuries. He only has probably about 2-3 more years left in him to be a #1 wide receiver. In addition, Anquan has been a #2 WR in Arizona, behind Larry Fitzgerald. Larry Fitzgerald has taken alot of the coverage away from Anquan, and he has been able to flourish under 2nd Cornerbacks. However, when he becomes a #1 WR, he will be taking most of the attention.
What iS one prime example of this? T.J. Houshmandzade . He was a #2 WR in Bengal, and tore it up. Then, he became the #1 WR in Seattle, and had to start dealing with the big boys. This year he had 3 TD's. Thats as much as Brian Hartline. If Boldin comes here, he will be covered by top Corner Backs ( i.e. Darelle Revis) and will be shutdown like T.J. was this year. I don't think it is worth it to give a 2nd rounder for him.
What do you think? What is Anquan Boldin worth?
