Video Time: Dez Bryant Edition
With the 2009 NFL season now in the rear view mirror, it's time to bring back our weekly "video time" posts. And from now until the NFL Draft in April, these posts will highlight some of the potential candidates the Dolphins could pick at some point in April's draft.
We'll also have much more extensive scouting reports (via SBN's college bloggers) beginning in the not to distant future.
To kick things off, I bring to you three videos of Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant - the top receiver available in the draft. So what does Dez think of himself? He says that he makes "uncatchable catches catchable."
Got that? Ok then....
Videos after the jump.
Enjoy:

i would like to draft him problem is he's been away from Football for a year and it scares me to see if he's still in shape.
he could definitely help us out though.

no doubt he has talent but.....
I’ll hold my judgment until I see his workout and hear him talk about his suspension. I’m still not sold on him. Is he going to the combine? I hope so, I’d like to see him there.

i agree with Corroncho
we would only take Dez if a number of other guys were already gone at 12. and if that happens and all of the guys we want to pick are gone, Parcells will prablaby trade down…
lets all just dream of the 60 yard bombs Henne would be throwin to this monster.
these highlight videos
always get me pumped about players—but it doesn’t always turn out. I remember watching videos of both Teddy and Pat White (post-draft) and seeing a lot in both of them to get fired up about. And we see how that turned out.
I mean, it looks like Dez has great size and great hands, and I would be guardedly excited if we were to land him—but only guardedly, because the flick isn’t always as good as the preview.

Jayson Foster
I did the same with Jayson Foster. Ridiculous videos, but the guy didn’t make it out of the preseason.
"The superior man blames himself. The inferior man blames others." Don Shula
I saw him on TV last week at an All Star challenge. He looked pretty good.
He’s big and strong and he has long arms and huge hands which is a plus for a WR. He’ll get those YAC and not crawl up into the fetal position. (GINN)
Shipley was also there and he looked pretty damn good too. He’s quick strong and catches everything thrown to him. Plus he doesn’t use gloves which I love seeing. A little old school. I believe gloves should be band. You take those gloves away and see who the true WR really are. Anyway I really like Shipley but I believe we alraedy have a WR like him (BESS). I believe Bryant would be just like Crabtree if not better. He’d be able to jump in and make an immediate Impact. I must say with all that said I believe we still need to go LB. (MCClain Kindle Weatherspoon, Spikes) Both would be nice. A man can dream can’t he.
shipley does use gloves just not in the skills challenge

I think we should all spend our time from now until the draft
going to various sites and starting rumors about Dez Bryant. It’s the only way that guy gets to us.

DEZ IS THE MAN...
But I need to see more. I didn’t see him making people miss or blowing by people. That concerns me. The NFL Corners are way better than some wanna bees. I have to say that his QB looked like garbage and that could have something to do with it. I think him and Henne will make each other stars…but so would Marshal

YOU KNOW WHAT GUYS...
we went through the SAME arguments last year over Percy Harvin… and look what happened…. Offensive Rookie of the Year. Granted, even if we wanted him, he dropped off the board before we got him. Fact is, we’re in a much better draft position to get that game changing WR we’ve been looking for. Draft him! As a rookie, he will instantly upgrade this squad. Yes, we need some LBs, but the FA can solve that problem. A stud WR? You won’t find that in FA this year.
and 1
Have you heard of Brandon Marshal…he will most likely be traded a that punk coach in denver continues to dismantle that squad..first the franchise QB…then the DC…Hopefully Brandon Marshal will be next

have you heard of
bill parcells? Terrell Owens came to dallas (similar wr-type that complains to the media about coach/qb) and BP was out…
Haven’t we learned a VALUABLE lesson from the joey porter saga… these coaches will not take BS from a player. If a player speaks out against the HC, ya done! So yeah, B-March – as much as i’d LOVE for him to be in miami – will not be a dolphins. That simple. Therefore… we NEED to draft Dez.
Like Percy, he won't be available to the Phins... at #12...

MATTY; he's definetly a #1 wr. & that is just what we need.
in this upcomming draft!
Now in here lies the Q.do we (FO) go against every thing that BP or the (trifecta) think’s. From what we’ve seen in the past, Dallas for one was prime exzample of why there’s a good chance that we pass up a wonderful talent as this. & also stooke extra fire in this man’s vains as at sum point he will play aganst us i just hope it’s not the “patsyies”??

Dez vs. Ginn
As a Columbus native, I watched almost every snap of Ginn’s career with tOSU. There are some big differences between the two, and one that would push me to say that Dez could have a MUCH bigger upside than Ginn.
Ginn was and is a speed receiver. He doesn’t have the best hands in the world, and isn’t much for contact. He never has been.
Here is the big one. Watch those videos (and subsequently watch Ginn’s tOSU highlight footage). Dez runs north-south ALL THE TIME. His first move is usually upfield, and if not is almost directly (within two steps) upfield. Ginn has always been east-west, trying to rely on his natural speed to outdo defenders. Ginn dances way too much, thinking that his speed will save the day. It did in college, why not now? Dez KNOWS how to work a football field.
Also, Dez seems to almost relish going across the middle. In college Ginn hardly ever went across the middle and would gator-arm far too often if he did (unless it was a slant where he was able to gain a step close to the goalline). Consequently, Dez can pull the catch down while in traffic with contact coming…and we all know about Ginn in this instance.
I also enjoy Dez’s fire, something which Ginn has always been lacking in. There were times in big games where he would make a play and his response seemed…lacking. More than usual for a Tressel team, and that is saying a lot.
Obviously Dez is a longshot. He should be a first rounder, and I agree with the Tuna on not taking receivers in the first round. But if he is there…how high is receiver on the draft wall?
i wouldnt be suprised
If denver goes against the grain and drafts tebow, look, everyone thought surely that the first wr going in the draft would be crabtree, turns out he wasnt even taken top 5-10 if i remember correctly.
Truth be told ol boy may just do something this dumb, but as far as draft is concerned,we may as well draft spiller if we want an offensive weapon.
Ive seen the tape on both, and spiller does what this guy does coming out the backfield.

well that's just because Al Davis is a retard
he took Heyward-Bey over Crabtree because DHB had a nicer 40 time. I really doubt they take Tebow, he doesn’t fit into McDaniels offensive scheme..

Bring Boldin over to Miami
and draft Dez!
It’s the perfect oppurtunity to develop our own good WR… Anquan can be a good mentor to Dez and help him out with the intricacies of the postion.

mcdaniels
Doesnt even fit mcdaniels offensive scheme. That being said,u have got a coach that is coasting on the reputation of his boss. Denver may as well have hired ronald mcdonald or better yet the fry guys to be the hc.
The players see this, and thats the reason no one wants to play for him. That being said,we may be suprised at who all we have to choose from this year. We may find ourselves drafting berry after all
by dolphinfan4lyfe on Feb 14, 2010 3:08 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Mcclain or DEZ !
I think this kid DEZ B. is just what we need on this “grind it out” offense. Really in the NFL now a Franchise WR (Fitz, Moss, etc) is very valuable. How much did Colston alter the SB ? He was on FIRE, making plays all over the field. Sure the game is still a TEAM game – but you do need a few PLAYMAKERS if you are going to win it all. N.O. was LOADED with playmakers – YES more than the COLTS – and I have $100 to prove it after betting the SAINTS and getting points. they just had too many playmakers on offense for the Colts. Yes – the Colts were pretty strong in that DEPT. too.
McClain fills a slightly bigger need if he is there – so we probably need to take him – but my 1. A pick would be DEZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
Also – this draft is MUCH deeper at LB, OLB, ILB that at WR….
DO NOT DRAFT BERRY – a safety is NEVER worth the value of a great LB, WR, NT – our biggest positions of need.
anyone remember the last Tennessee player that Miami had success with ????
I HATE these TN players, always seem to FLOP on Miami – (and I am from TN/KY) so I have every right to hate on them. … Love the SEC – but these TN players…. not so much/
Jason Allen, Eddie Moore, etc dont make me go back further…
Yes Berry is a good player – but we would be much better off with a LB or WR with pick #12 – there are PLENTY of Safeties to be found in the later rounds…..just like the TE position – NEVER WASTE a high pick on these positions, unless you are really set at – QB, RB, WR, LT, DE, OLB, MLB, CB – all much more important positions in the NFL/
40 Year FIN FAN
DRAFT a #1 WR now.........
Pass on Dez, lol.

Nice
