Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, died after a high-speed crash during the final training run for the men’s singles event in Whistler, British Columbia. He was thrown off his sled and collided with an unpadded metal support pole outside the track.
I have seen the video, it is brutal, this poor guy hit an UNPADDED STEEL GIRDER, WTF!!!
I'm not putting the video up, you can find it easily enough, its disturbing, he was going 88 mph when he hit the girder, my problem is, and this really gets me, these girders could easily have been either padded or better yet plexyglassed off, so you cannot get to the girders.
THIS IS AN UNNECESSARY DEATH!! IT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED!!.
I hope that his friends and family can find peace soon, and my heart, and good will goes out to them.
R.I.P. Nodar, the world mourns for you.
