My Dream offseason picks
Well since everyone is coming up with a post on who we should pick up in the Draft and FA, I figured why not?
This is mainly to focus on the FA and what I consider would be my "Wet Dream" picks for defense.
Without further Adieu...
As soon as he came out and said he wouldn't mind to play for Miami, I immidiately started advocating for him to be picked up by the Fins and at what, 28 or so, he could be a great NT for the next 5-6 years
OLB - Jason Taylor
Resign him. period. The guy did excellent in a position he had to learn over an offseason. That shows the kind of player he is especially having to step down pass rushing duties during 3rd downs... looking at you Peezy. I say if we resign him, use him all three downs or just 1st and 3rd downs on the weakside after Porter gets booted.
FS - Antrel Rolle
I'll be honest here, before his statement about wanting to play for the Fins, I was thinking of plans on how to steal Atogwe away from the Rams. This would be a no brainer for us but, his price is a little too high. My arguement is that were paying Wilson a lot too and hell if were gonna spend some money, make it worth it. just a thought.

am i the only dolphin fan that...
Not only doesnt want to see wilfork in a dolphins uniform, but antrell rolle either. First off, last year about 15-20 players said they wanted to come to miami last year, when push came to shove,as soon as their original teams,or coaching staffs started antying up the coin, they resigned period. Second, wilforks been coached by the pats the entire part of his pro career,we play them twice, they know his strengths, they know his weaknesses,we all know bellicheat will use whatever advantage he can get to win games “spygate anyone?”
Truth is wed be better off going with either Hampton from the steelers,or Aubreyo Franklin, at NT.
As for Rolle, two words,Darren Sharper unrestricted ball hawk, can get for a good bit less, and we dont need to tie the position down with Clemons waiting to take the reigns, plus a guy lile sharper can teach the kid a thing or two.
O say know on either, and keep us out the cap doghouse for when a collective bargaining agreement comes about.

I see what you're saying
But players say they would love to play in Miami or other teams just as leverage for their current team or others. In this case Rolle and Wilfork saying it is believable because they grew up in Miami. It may just be a bluff, and it could work out well for the player

The Patriots Suck
I look at is as more of a 50/50. Its probably partly a bluff to force the had of their current
team but also I assume that they also have some reason to want to go to the team that they mention.

My dream offseason would be a new CBA
Tim Graham @ ESPN wrote this easy to understand article about the CBA:

It seems we all should be rooting for it to rectified or 2011 could really suck.

The chances of a new CBA getting done are slim

On the CBA? It has to be signed before March 1st to be in force for the 2010 season.
All we can hope for now is that they can work things out in the next 13 months.

i was listening to a podcast from Espn
And the guy they were talking to said there is a slight chance that if a deal doesnt get done in the next year or 2 there might not be a draft in 2012 (and not bec the world is going to end lol)

If there is no deal by 2011 the owners will lock out the players. At that point either
the players come to the table or the union will eventually get broken up. At that point the owners have all the leverage and they also have a majority of the players under contract. At that point they will be able to dictate the direction of the CBA against a newly formed and much weaker union. I dont think there will ever be a time without a draft.

There will always be a draft
though most people miss the zillion rounds that they used to do back in the day. Could you imagine watching ESPN for all 12 rounds listening to Mel Kiper go on and on about Miami wasting picks on Zach Thomas….and how every team who passed up Trent Dilfer would regret it? Why does he hate Miami so much? I mean, does the humidity ruin the 12lbs of mousse that he uses in his hair or something??

LOL As sad is it is I admit that I would still probably follow all 12 rounds.

Vince Wilfork
I really think this could happen. Bill Parcells might pay some big $$ for NT.And Wilford
should make more money. say 5year 45mill plus guaranteed $$ not sure how much it would take but he only made 1.4 mill. last year.
Front load it a bit this year so in the capped years it does not sting as bad.

What are your thoughts for the draft?
if we did this should we draft mcclain or bryant (if they are available) should we go after brandon marshall? id love to have wilfork and rolle. and seeing as both of them want to play in miami that is very possible. antonio bryant wants to play in miami too but im not sure how much of a fan of his i am. id rather have marshall or dez bryant.

sorry
But i just dont see him in the cards, last two years have showed me something, and its that they dont use the same vision we do,and im kinda glad for it. last year,we wanted suggs, haynesworth, dansby, kinda halfway thought about TO,and almost every key superstar we thought would be an impact player for our team.
Look at what we got, wilson, wake,jt,eric green and several practice squad players, not to mention re-signs like bell, crowder, and will allen.
Not to mention,we still dont know what lays in store with our own free agents,we may resign ferg,jt,who knows, now if not,i can see a few second tier free agents being brought in,but i have a feelingthe face of this franchise wont be a player. But the team as a whole

also note
Every upper echelon player weve talked about doesnt fit the teams “we first” attitude. As opposed to the me first attitude weve been seeing. Come to think of it,we let fasano walk as well because of it. Porter and ronnie get packaged to a team like arizona for a first and third. May Even see pennington n a cardinals jersey as well, with warner retiring
