WHAT KILLED THE DOLPHINS 2010 SEASON !!

what killed the 2010 dolphins was the 2009 and 2010  draft. pat white and patrick turner !! please !! and 2010 was evident that we needed skill players such as return man and deep threat wr and a te but we passed to draft a bunch of linebackers. this team could easily have gotten jacoby ford (4th round) and aaron hernandez (3rd round).  the injuries to the o-line this year was bad but the draft over the last two yrs has been terrible for the most part.

I'm not really sure that killed us at all. I would say it was offensive ineptness.

Sure we could have drafted those players, but would it have really mattered? Would they have fit into our system? Could they have even succeeded in our system. You point out two players that were busts, but given the circumstances would either jacoby ford or aaron hernandez have done any better?

No.. but Ford would have helped the Offense out and if not this season in the future. Kid if gona be a top receiver eventually.

Henne needs to step up

Hindsight is 20/20....even for you.

Blame the strategy but not the picks. Obviously Pat White and Patick Turner were complete busts and wastes of picks. No excuses there. But you can’t look at this draft and say we should have drafted this player or that player. Ford and Hernandez were both 4th rd picks meaning every team in the league passed on them at least 3 times including the teams where they eventually ended up.

As for the 2010 draft, I think the jury is still out. I firmly believe that you can never have enough linemen. Odrick will hopefully be a good player. Consider him a bonus 1st round pick for the 2011 draft (to offset the 2nd rd pick we no longer have). And maybe Edds will be lik a bonus 3/4 pick next year.

Fromt he 2009 draft we still got Davis, Smith, Hartline, Clemons….all starters. What more can you expect from one draft given that every team misses on at least 50% of there picks? In 2010 we got Odrick, Misi, Jerry (all opening day starters) plus Carrol, Jones and Spitler (all depth special teams players).

If you want to lay blame, how about starting with the O-Line. The front office has had 3 cracks at both the draft AND free agency and our O-Line is worse off today than it was the day Parcells got here.

I can excuse the Turner pick but for some reason the Pat White pick still pisses me off.

Need for Speed

I agree with this post because we were able to get 3 solid LB’s including Dansby after day one. Instead, we drafted two more LB’s. Don’t forget that we got Dobbins from the San Diego trade. In the first round, we could have drafted Jahvid Best who would have been a top 15 pick except for the fact that he had a concussion. Both Jacoby Ford and Aaron Hernandez were picked ahead of us in the fourth round, but the FO could have been more creative in getting extra picks. In the 2009 draft, the regime had worked out Johnny Knox but were afraid to pull the trigger on the fast small speedster. How has that worked out for the Bears? Pretty good so far. This regime has an affinity to avoid drafting small speedsters. Our greatest success has been when we have smaller players complementing our big guys. In the 70’s, we had Mercury Morris and Nat Moore. During Marino’s time, we had Mark Clayton. If Ireland keeps his job, then he better start drafting quick and explosive players who are game changers. Dunking and dinking does not work especially in today’s NFL. All Ireland has to do is look at the Dolphins teams of the past. The blueprint is right in front of him.

CP10's Shoulder

Killed our chances at the playoffs.

But I would say Henne’s overall play, the OC, the weaker oline and the corresponding weak play of the running game helped doom the season.
